Goan Reporter:NATIONAL HIMALAYAN TREKKING EXPEDITIONS CUM TRAINING PROGRAMMES

 Panaji: March 7, 2026:The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs has invited applications from Goan trekkers & adventure enthusiasts to participate in the National Himalayan Trekking Expeditions cum Training programmes organized by Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Goa in association with Youth Hostel Association of India scheduled to be held from May 17 to 24,  2026 at Roli Kholi Pass in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.

The programme will provide participants with an opportunity to experience high-altitude trekking under expert guidance, along with basic training in trekking techniques, safety measures etc.

Interested candidates may download the prescribed application form from the official website of Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs www.dsya.goa.gov.in or collect the same from Shri Manoj Joshi at Joshi Wines, Behind Old Secretariat, Panaji Goa. The duly filled application forms, along with necessary documents, must be submitted to DSYA office on or before March 9, 2026.

Panaji: March 07, 2026:The paid holiday declared on Sunday 8th March, 2026 for the bye elections to Ward No.II of Village Panchayat Salvador Do Mundo, and Ward No.VIII of Village Panchayat Balli Adnem, in the State of Goa, stands cancelled on account of the candidate being elected unopposed.

Goan Reporter:STATE EC ISSUES DIRECTIONS FOR PANAJI CCP ELECTION

Panaji: March 05, 2026:     The Goa State Election Commission has issued directions to ensure free, fair and peaceful Election to the General Elections to the Corporation of the City of Panaji on March 09, 2026 from 08.00 a.m. to 06.00 a.m. of March 11, 2026.

There will be ban on unlawful assembly as per sub section (1) of section 189 of BNS and any procession or rally will be strictly prohibited to prevent any nuisance disturbances and low and order problem, no loud speaker will be permitted to be used for the purpose of elections during the period preceding 48 hours from the commencement of the poll, Vehicles permitted to all contesting candidates by the Returning Officer for campaigning will not ply on roads during the period to avoid any distribution of money or gifts or liquor and to prevent any nuisance and law and order problem, except the vehicles authorized by the Returning Officers on the day of poll, all private vehicles will be subjected to inspections in a dignified manner as per rules to avoid their misuse for distribution of money or gifts or liquor and for causing any nuisance also to avoid any harassment to private persons.

Goan Reporter:DM NORTH ORDERED TRAFFIC DIVERSION

Panaji: March 05, 2026:      District Magistrate North Goa has order for traffic diversion/closure phase-3 from March 20, 2026 to May 19, 2026 from P24 near Hyundai Showroom to P28 near Wellness; and closure of road from P51 near Dr. Anil D’Silva to P47 near Goa Scan Centre, Porvorim-Bardez.

Heavy Vehicles carrying essential commodities will not be able to travel on ODP road from Mapusa side due to steep ascent. Hence, One lane on the existing carriageway will be kept open for all vehicular traffic proceeding from Mapusa to Panaji.

 

Goan Reporter:DM NORTH ISSUES PROHIBITORY ORDER

Panaji: March 05, 2026: District Magistrate, North Goa has ordered that assembly and gathering of five or more persons and taking out or organizing of processions, carrying of firearms or weapons of offences such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears, use of loudspeakers, shouting of slogans and burning of fire  are prohibited in any public place, street, road, square, thoroughfare, by-lane or in any open space within the radius of 500 meters around the Assembly Complex at Porvorim and the area under the jurisdiction of Panaji Police Station.

This restriction will not apply to public servants on duty and to bonafide marriage or funeral processions or any special occasion or occasions which in the opinion of the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrates are genuine and for which prior permission in writing has/have been be obtained from the District Magistrate or the Sub-Divisional Magistrate concerned in view of thirteenth session of the eighth legislative Assembly session starting from March 06, 2026.

The order to be in force w.e.f. 10.00 a.m. on March 06, 2026 and will remain in force till the Assembly Session is over i.e. on March 27, 2026.

The Public in these areas are advised to keep away from the poles, structure and lines as contact with this power line will be hazardous to life and property.
