Goan Reporter News: Secretary Information and Publicity visits Goa state pavilion at IITF Pragati Maidan New Delhi

Ahead of the conclusion of the 14 days mega India International Trade Fair on November 27 presently underway at the refurbished iconic Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, Secretary, Information & Publicity, Shri. Subhash Chandra, IAS today visited the Goa pavilion setup at Pragati Maidan in Hall Number 3F.

Shri. Prakash Naik, Information Officer and Shri. Shanto Naik, Assistant Information Officer welcomed the Secretary during his visit.

The Secretary who was also the Chairman of the State level committee for the selection of the agency for the execution of Goa pavilion was impressed to see the aesthetically designed pavilion by the agency M/s Advertising Associates in line with the theme of IITF “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”.

The Secretary evinced keen interest in the Goan handicrafts and also enquired with the artisans about the sale of their products. The artisans informed the Secretary that they are doing brisk sale on day to day basis.

He expressed satisfaction to note that the Goa pavilion is evoking tremendous response from Delhites and its peripheries which is evident from the innumerable footfalls on daily basis.

He also witnessed the cultural performances presented by the artists of Kala Sangam, Priol led by Dinesh Priolkar.

Goan Reporter News: Will ensure proper utilization of National Games sports equipment: Minister Govind Gaude

Hon. Sports Minister Govind Gaude emphasised that his priority now is to ensure proper utilization of sports equipment and material procured for the recently concluded 37th National Games in Goa.

He was speaking after conducting an inspection of the Ponda sports complex, which player host to a few disciplines during the National Games .

“The National Games has ended officially, but our responsibility has increased as the sports equipment and material procured has to be put in place properly. The German Hangars have to be removed properly, while cleanliness has to be maintained while clearing the equipment. I have given the necessary directions wherever pavers need to be replaced properly. Putting all this in place will be my primary focus. I came to oversee all this.

Gaude also said that in the coming days, he will be visiting all the venues where the Games were held.

“I also visited the Sports Village City at Campal. I have given the necessary instructions to the contractor. Another 7-8 days will go into dismantling and loading the material. Debris and garbage like plastic bottles need to be cleared and cleanliness has to be maintained. It is my responsibility,” he said.

The Minister also emphasised the need to maintain the sports infrastructure in order to increase its value.

“The director of sports and youth affairs, and execute director, as well as those below like coaches and other staff, all of them are responsible for the upkeep of the equipment. An inventory has to be done as well. We need to plan on how to re-utilise this equipment. It is not possible to interact with each official. I will hold every person responsible, including the coaches and staff, for any damage to the equipment.

“I have taken sports very seriously. So much of Goans’ taxpayers’ has been spent
on this investment. We must take care of the equipment like we take care of the materials inside our homes. This is my priority.

Goan Reporter News: Sports Minister Govind Gaude promises grand closing ceremony for games

Sports Minister Govind Gaude announced that there would be a grand closing ceremony for the National Games that includes a cultural programme and a formal function as part of the ceremony that will be attended by the Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankar.

Speaking to reporters, Gaude said that the National Games so far have proven to be a huge success, just like he promised they would be.

“10,040 athletes have registered for the Games, which is exactly the number that we said would come and that we promised would be here. Everyone is satisfied with the atmosphere of the games and the quality of the infrastructure. If you go to see around the venues there is a festive atmosphere which is not too dissimilar to the Olympics.”

“We are making all arrangements for the closing ceremony which will be held on November 9. By 12pm on November 9 all the disciplines and all the events will have been completed and the stage will be set for the closing ceremony,”
