Goan Reporter News: IMD launches mobile App ‘Mausam’
India Meteorological Department, Ministry of Earth Science has taken various initiatives in recent years for improvement in dissemination of weather forecast and warning service based on latest tools and technologies, Ministry of Earth Sciences has launched the mobile App ‘Mausam’. This mobile app is available both on Playstore and Appstore.
Users can access observed weather, forecasts, radar images and be proactively warned of impending weather events.
Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, Pune an autonomous Institute, under the Ministry of Earth Sciences has installed a Lightning Location Network. Using this network, by ESSO-IITM has developed a Mobile App, DAMINI-LIGHTNING. This App gives exact location of current lightning and direction of thunderstorm. DAMINI-App would indeed help in getting advance information about impending lightning activity.
Meghdoot, a simple and easy to use mobile application which provides crop advisories to the farmers based on the weather information. It is a joint initiative of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) and Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR).
The app provides district-wise advisories on crop and livestock management issued by Agro Met Field Units (AMFU) every Tuesday and Friday based on the past and forecasted weather information. It will help the farmers to take weather-sensitive decisions like sowing of crops, pesticides and fertilizer application, irrigation scheduling and vaccination of animals.
There is also Public Observation App which provides weather information to users location wise. Users can also provide their feedback on this app. App contains dual mode. Quick, Advanced for Weather Feedback, as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.

The Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated ‘Mantralaya’ refurbished Ministerial Block today at Secretariat in the presence of Cabinet Ministers and MLA’s, Secretary to Government, HoDs and others
The refurbished ‘Mantralaya’ has a State of the Art Conference Room ‘Samantranaah’ and Cabinet Room ‘ Manthan’ with the latest Audio Visual systems like wireless presentation with touch panel, video wall facilitating video conferencing amongst the allied Government Departments/ Institutions within the state of Goa and the Country.
While addressing the media Chief Minister extended his warm wishes to the people of Goa on Statehood Day. He said “It’s the beginning of a new start and this State of the Art Mantralaya will commence its official work starting from today. It’s the 36th Goa Statehood Day and our Government works for the development and advancement of the state” he added.

A power shutdown has been arranged on May 16, 2023 from 09.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. at 11 KV Pilgao Feeder to carry out maintenance work. The areas affected are Bank of Baroda, Zatye cashew factory, Sesa mining Dhabdhaba, Bagwada, Kamat Dock, Mathwada, Sarmanas, Dempo mining Sarmanas, New Wada, Pilgao, Saptokotesnwar Narva and surrounding area as informed by the Department of Information and Publicity.

National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, Directorate of Health Service will organise State Level Function at conference hall of Urban Health Centre Margao on May 16, 2023 at 10.15 am on the occasion of National Dengue Day.
To emphasis on strategies to control and reduce the Dengue burden National Dengue Day is observed on 16th May every year. This year the theme is “Harness partnership to defeat dengue”. Also awareness activities are being organized throughout the State.
