Dhruv Parsem emerged victorious in the Pedne Taluka Football Tournament organized by Morjim Boyz at the Morjim Football Ground, defeating Royal FC Parsem with a 3-0 scoreline.
Arun Naik opened the scoring in the first half, followed by second-half goals from Sanchit Gawde and Silvester Dias.
Sanchit Gawde was awarded Man of the Match, Sohel Khwaja received the Best Goalkeeper award, and Silvester Dias was the tournament’s Highest Scorer.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Devendra Prabhudesai, MLA Dayanand Sopte, Morjim ZP Satish Shetgaonkar, social worker Sachin Parab, panch Mandar Poke, Vilas Morje, Umesh Lingutkar, ex-sarpanch Nilesh Shetgaonkar, and ex-deputy sarpanch Amit Shetgaonkar among others.
Former Vice President of the Goa Football Association, Francis D’Souza of Siolim, highlighted the poor condition of the Morjim Football Ground and the lack of adequate government funding for football development in the state.
Former CM Laxmikant Parsekar acknowledged the 15-day effort by the Morjim Boyz to repair the ground and appreciated their dedication in making the tournament possible despite the challenges.
