Goan Reporter News: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant inaugurates 3rd edition of Vidnyan Dhara

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant expressed confidence in instilling a scientific mindset in Goa through the Vidnyan Dhara program, expecting tangible results over the next 7 to 8 years. He was speaking at the inauguration of the 3rd edition of Vidnyan Dhara 2024, a science series celebrating National Science Day, organized by the Directorate of Higher Education and Goa State Higher Education Council.

Allaying apprehension among students about maths and science subjects, Dr Sawant informed that a STEM Lab has been instituted at Sarkari Prathamik Vidyalaya, Housing Board, Sanquelim. The primary objective is to stimulate interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics at the primary level. The state government plans to extend STEM labs to primary and secondary schools in every taluka.

The Chief Minister further expressed that Vidnyan Dhara 2024 represents an incredible journey of scientific exploration and learning. It serves as a platform where imagination converges with knowledge and innovation, providing fertile grounds for the seeds of scientific curiosity. This initiative is geared towards sparking the scientific spirit in over 75,000 young individuals across Goa through a series of more than 500 remarkable events scheduled over the upcoming 45 days, from January 12 to February 28 he added.

Chief Minister Sawant also emphasized the opening of the First skill library at Government College Sanquelim, inviting book enthusiasts to register and utilize this resource that is accessible to the general public. In alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, Chief Minister Sawant encouraged individuals to embrace this vision.

Additionally, CM briefed on Modi’s campaigns, including Fit India, Skill India, and Inclusive India.To realize the vision of a developed India, Chief Minister Sawant outlined four pillars: Nari Shakti, Yuva Shakti, Kisan Shakti, and Garib Kalyan.

The Chief Minister also appealed to all young individuals to download the My Bharat gov.in app, register, and keep their profiles updated with information about their various activities.

Shri Bhushan Savoikar ,Director ,Directorate of Higher Education in his welcome address briefed about the recent edition of Vidnyan Dhara (2023) which was a huge success . It included diverse sessions such as public lectures, talks, and demonstrations, spanning 254 schools, higher secondary establishments, Colleges, Goa University, and various public venues he informed.

Chief Minister also released special magazine on Centre for Research Development and Innovation

Secretary Education, Shri. Prasad Lolayekar, IAS was also present on the ocassion .

Earlier Shri Ganesh Chari, MD and Founder of Neshaju Envirotech Pvt Limited, led a session on Environmental Surveillance for better Public Health and Climate Action.

In attendance at the function were Dr. Mahesh Majik, Associate Professor of Research Development and Innovation at Goa State Higher Education Council, and Prof. Tilvi, Professor at RDI-GSHEC, along with teachers and students.
