Goan Reporter News: Minister for Agriculture Shri Ravi Naik emphasises need for unity among people


Highlighting the significance of the Indian constitution, Minister for Agriculture Shri Ravi Naik today called for unity amongst the people of all caste, religion and creed. He also stressed on the need for renewed and determined efforts by the people to take the nation ahead on the path of progress and prosperity.

Speaking at Kranti Maidan, Ponda today on the occasion of 74th Republic Day celebration Shri Ravi Naik said the Indian constitution, the architect of which was Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar envisages the duties and responsibilities the people should shoulder. Republic, he said, should not be confined around one’s house but it should be for the welfare of the people and to ensure the prosperity of the nation.  He further mentioned that the Indian constitution which came into existence on January 26,1950  provides equality to all, our rights and duties, besides forging unity among people of different faiths in the country.

The Minister emphasized the need for unity among the people of different faiths so as to prepare ourselves to face the new challenges ahead. He said Law is equal for all. It is everyone’s duty to obey the law. One should not damage the country’s property by vandalism and added saying that everyone should maintain the pride of the country as well as self-respect.

Earlier, the Minister placed a wreath at Martyrs memorial and paid homage. He also inspected the guard of honour from the police contingent.

Students from various schools from Ponda and surrounding areas presented Patriotic songs.

The function was also attended by  Chairperson of Ponda Municipality, Shri Ritesh Naik,  Additional Collector Shri Vishal Kundaikar, Deputy Collector Shri Sitaram Sawal, D.Y.S.P Ponda Shri Ashish Shirodkar, Commanding Officer 6TTR, Lt. Col. Abhimanyu Sharma,  Freedom fighters, Government  officials, teachers, students among others.
