Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs Shri Govind Gaude has stressed the need for a world class gallery and said that the government has initiated steps to create the same in the proposed annexe of Kala Academy.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating’ Asmita’, an exhibition of art by a prominent Goan artist Shri Rajmohan Shetye organized at the art gallery of Directorate of Art & Culture at Patto Panaji yesterday. The programme was organized by Samrat Club of Porvorim in collaboration with the Directorate of Art & Culture.
Speaking further, the Minister said through the Directorate of Art & Culture efforts are being made to provide exposure and accessibility to local artists in the state. He impressed upon parents to pay attention towards the education of their child and strive to recognise art talent in their children as well. He appreciated Shri Shetye for his inborn skill of art which he has exhibited through his painting.
Shri Pravin Arlekar MLA & Chairman of GHRSSIDC stressed the need to provide guidance to youth to develop interest in art. Goa has a rich tradition of art, music and culture. Goa has produced eminent personalities who have excelled across the world. He appreciated Shri Rajmohan Shetye for his outstanding skill of art.
