United Club of Verna defeated Shiroda Youth Club 2-0 to emerge champions of the 33rd Arlem Rolling Trophy football tournament organized by the Arlem Youth Association at the Raia Panchayat ground on Sunday. In a fast-paced match, Jesloy Moniz of United Club of Verna and Elton Cruz of Shiroda Youth Club missed scoring opportunities in the first session. Clifton Rebello gave United Club of Verna the lead in the 51st minute, and Fulganco Cardozo doubled it in the 60th minute. United Club of Verna took home ₹1,00,000 and a trophy, while Shiroda Youth Club settled for ₹70,000 and a trophy. Rajesh Faldessai, Chairman of the Goa Rehabilitation Board and MLA of Cumbarjua Assembly Constituency, handed over the prizes in the presence of Domnic Gauncar (Z.P. Member, Raia), Mario D’Souza (Sarpanch, V.P. Raia), Anthony Pango (GFA Vice President, South Goa), Andrew Ferrao, Cosme Oliveira (GFA Executive Members), Luis Caetano Quadros (President, Raia Sporting Club), Shrikant Sawant (President, Youth Club Manora), Jerome Colaco, and other dignitaries and club officials. Individual prizes were awarded as follows: Best Goalkeeper of the Final – Pearson Vaz (Shiroda Youth Club), Best Player of the Final – Clifton Rebello (United Club of Verna), Best Forward of the Final – Vaibhav Naik (Shiroda Youth Club), Best Defender of the Final – Desmon Gama (United Club of Verna), Best Midfielder of the Final – Climax Fernandes (Shiroda Youth Club), First Scorer of the Final – Clifton Rebello (United Club of Verna), Best Disciplined Team – Carmona SC, and Best Player of the Tournament – Stephen Satarkar (United Club of Verna).
