The Arnold Seva Kendra (ASK) Goa, in collaboration with the Chotanagpur Youth Group, successfully organised a vibrant 5-a-side football tournament at the SVD Seminary grounds in Raia. A unique aspect of the event was the rule mandating each team to have at least two girls on the field, promoting inclusivity and gender equality in sports. Eleven teams from across Goa participated, with the tournament being inaugurated by Fr. Innocent Fernandes, SVD, Rector of the SVD Seminary. After intense matches in the league stage, the top four teams—Verna, Varca, Olaulim, and Pompurpa—advanced to the semifinals. Pompurpa defeated Verna, while Varca overcame Olaulim to set up a thrilling final. The championship match ended in a 2-2 draw in regular time, and Varca clinched the title through penalties. Verna secured third place after a close win over Olaulim. Outstanding individual performances were recognised: Melroy (Varca) was named Best Goalkeeper, Sanju (Pompurpa) won Best Male Player, Eshleen (Varca) earned Best Female Player, while Deepak (Verna) and Venita (Verna) were the top male and female goal scorers respectively. The event was graced by Fr. Caetano, SVD, and Fr. Roque, SVD, and organised by Fr. Michael Pereira, SVD, who expressed gratitude to the Verna Chotanagpur Youth, the SVD Fathers for providing the grounds, and the SVD Seminarians for their support. The tournament was widely praised as a celebration of sportsmanship, community spirit, and gender inclusivity.
