Internal Committee of Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sankhali had organized a Capacity Building Seminar for the teaching and non teaching staff recently.Adv. Amita Kamat was the Resource Person for the session.
Adv. Kamat explained the definitions and types of sexual harassment, significance of POSH Act 2013, complaint mechanisms and timeline, role of IC, necessity for improvement in workplace culture and various dimensions of prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment.
Principal, GCASC, Sankhali, Prof. (Dr.) Rajesh Pednekar emphasized the need for such capacity building seminars to create awareness around the issue of sexual harassment and to inculcate work culture that prevents, prohibits any such occurrences.
The objective of the seminar was to sensitize maximum employees and disseminate knowledge about prevention, prohibition and redressal of issues of sexual harassment against women; to create awareness about POSH Act 2013; to create a campus,free of sexual discrimination and harassment at all levels.
Prof. (Dr.) Agnela Dias, Presiding officer of the Internal Committee welcomed the audience. Dr. Dipesh Harmalkar proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Ambika Kamat compered the session.
