Goan Reporter:CM TO INAUGURATE NEW OFFICE OF TRANSPORT DEPT

Panaji: April 28, 2026::The new Head Office of the Directorate of Transport, Government of Goa, will be inaugurated on April 29, 2026, at 5:30 pm at Building B-1, 1st Floor, New Market Complex, Porvorim. The Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant will inaugurate the office premise which will mark a significant milestone in enhancing administrative efficiency and improving public service delivery in the transport sector. Over the years, the Directorate has undertaken several key initiatives to modernise services and strengthen governance. A majority of transport-related services, including driving licences, vehicle registration, and permits, have been fully digitised under the Vahan and Sarathi platforms, enabling citizens to access services online with ease. Efforts have also been made to streamline operations across RTO Offices and enhance accessibility through decentralised service delivery centres. The Department has further introduced technology-driven measures such as Aadhaar-enabled authentication, digital payments through POS and online gateways, and enforcement systems including e-challans and real-time monitoring through Command and Control Centres. Initiatives like automated vehicle testing stations, vehicle scrapping policies, and installation of vehicle tracking and digital fare meter systems reflect the Government’s focus on transparency, efficiency, and road safety. The inauguration ceremony will be attended by Shri Mauvin Godinho, Minister for Transport; Shri Rohan Khaunte, Minister for Tourism; Shri Mahesh Kumar Shambhu, IFS, Secretary (Transport), Government of Goa; and Shri P. Pravimal Abhishek, IAS, Director of Transport, Government of Goa.
