Goan Reporter:YOUTH MUST DRAW INSPIRATION FROM FREEDOM FIGHTERS: SHIRODKAR

Emphasizing the importance of remembering the sacrifices of Goa’s freedom fighters, WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar urged the youth to uphold the values of patriotism while embracing innovation and creativity in the technological era.

 

Speaking at the Goa Revolution Day function at Kranti Maidan, Ponda, Shirodkar said the younger generation should understand the struggles of the liberation movement and take pride in Goa’s rich legacy. He noted that the ancestors preserved the state’s cultural heritage during the pre-Liberation period by safeguarding temples such as Kamakshi and Rayeshwar across the Zuari river.

 

Paying tributes to freedom fighters and martyrs after hoisting the national flag, the minister said India is marching towards greater prosperity and development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

 

The function was attended by Ponda Municipal Council Chairperson Veerendra Dhavalikar, 6TTR Commanding Officer Shantanu Kaushik, Additional Collector Vishal Kundaikar, councillors, officials and citizens.

 

The event featured patriotic songs and cultural performances by students from various schools across Ponda taluka, adding colour and enthusiasm to the celebrations.

 

Earlier, WRD Minister Shri Shirodkar and other dignitaries placed Wreaths at Martyrs Memorial and paid homage.

On his arrival at Kranti Maidan the WRD Minister was received by Shri Vishal Kundaikar, Additional Collector and Shri  Amitesh Shirvoikar Dy. Collector.

Shri Girish Velguekar, compered the function.
