27/02/2014 … The consul general of the Federal republic of Germany has outsourced their visa application collection and delivery in goa to V.F.S global.

 the centre in goa was inaugurated on Wednesday by the consul and head of the consular section of the consulate general of Germany in Mumbai Alexander Thielitz , in the presence of  honorary consul of the Federal republic of Germany in Goa  Dean Menezes,  zonal manager of VFS global western India Monaz bilimoria and others.

The opening of this centre is aimed at providing high quality services to the residents of goa. VFS global will be responsible for accepting applications in Panaji at from applicants residing in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Daman and diu

 Speaking at the inaugural function, Mr thielitz said that  the opening of the visa application centre in Panaji marked a significant milestone for Indian Business and leisure travelers to Germany

 The Chief Minister said that the college building will be completed in three phases, with work on the ground floor phase expected to be complete by June and complimented the teachers and students of Multipurpose school for their excellent academic results.

With talks going on about a possible coalition between the nationalist congress party and the Congress party to fight the upcoming Lok sabha elections, the GPCC president John Fernandes stated that the Congress high command was aware of the sentiments of its party members to fight the elections on their own without joining hands with the NCP.

 mr Fernandes also stated that since the NCP  and congress were not having an alliance throughout the country, the congress leaders in turn could help its coalition partner, the NCP party by conceding more seats in another state.

 mr Fernandes also stated that some state NCP leaders were in touch with him and had shown interest in  re-joining the congress party.

19/02/2014 …If the , the corporation of the city of Panaji will stop the treatment plant, CCP commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues has stated.

 mr Rodrigues  was speaking at the general meeting of the Panjim city Corporation Tuesday. The opposition members led by Vaidehi Naik raised their voices over the stink emanating from the CCP garbage treatment plant.

The commissioner  requested the corporators not to politicize the garbage issue. He also stated that the CCP was  taking all the necessary measures to curb the odor problem.

He said that a consultant would be appointed to undertake works and complete it within a year’s time. 

 He was speaking alongside a press briefing on Monday in Ponda, wherein he announced that dept of information and publicity in association with the village panchayat of bandora will be organizing the annual Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj jayanti celebrations on Febuary 19.

17/02/2014 … The Vasco Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched ‘Ek Note Kamal Pe Vote’ door-to-door campaign which recently commenced from Pandurangwadi Patrong Baina at Vasco. The campaign aims to raise party funds to fight the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

 Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida kicked off the campaign in presence of Vasco BJP president Deepak Naik, Mormugao Planning and Development Authority chairman Krishna Salkar, BJP member, Goa Tourism and Development Corporation director Jayant Jadhav besides other party workers from Vasco constituency.

Panjim city traffic department installs seven close circuit TV cameras in and around the Panjim city

12/02/2014 … In an effort to ease traffic congestion as well as traffic violators in to the capital city of Panjim the city traffic department has installed around seven close circuit TV cameras in and around the Panjim city.

The initiative from the state traffic department has been a step forward towards making the capital city not only free from traffic congestion or traffic violation on those violating traffic laws which result in traffic jams and hardships for the people but also to keep crimes and thefts under check.

According to traffic officials CCTV cameras are important as it is not possible to post a traffic police at every point, adding it is a common tendency that once a common man notices a traffic police he would immediately put the helmet or the seat belt to avoid being fined.

but if the cameras are in place, the road users will be careful and will avoid violating the laws due to the fear of being caught as the cameras act as the law enforcing agency.

Mr virnodkar said city in the control room the traffic department was able to issue 600-800 fines for traffic violators in a month

 Presently there are seven high definition cctv camera’s installed in the capital city starting right from kadamba bus stand up to Miramar circle and are also in process of installing another eight cameras in days to come

 Panjim traffic pi dharmesh angle said that the major problem was that vehicles remain parked in a haphazard manner which leads to choking of the roads and with the idea of cctv being installed in the capital city there was some road sense and people were more careful in the movement besides obeying traffic rules
