VARIOUS PROGRAMS TO MARK INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

 Panaji: August 13, 2015 …. As in the rest of the country Independence Day will be Celebrated in the state on August 15, 2015. The main state level function will be held in front  of the Old Secretariat Panaji at 9.15 am where Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar will  unfurl  the national tri- color inspect  the guard of  honor and address the people on the occasion .

 The Chief Minister will also present awards to those who have contributed in various fields

 The function will be attended by Dy. Chief Minister Shri Francis D’Souza Speaker Shri Rajendra  Arlekar ,Cabinet Ministers, Leader of opposition Shri Pratapsingn Rane, Member of Parliament, Dy Speaker, M.L.A ‘s, judges of High court ,Ld Advocate General and other dignitaries

 To mark the celebration Independence Day functions will also be held at the taluka level. The Flag hoisting Ceremony at Margao would be performed by Shri Avertano Furtado, Minister for Labour, Employment and Fisheries at 9.15 am. in front of the South Goa Collectorate building, Margao.

   The Flag hoisting ceremony at Ponda would be performed at the hands of Minister for Public Works, Shri Ramkrishna Dhavelikar, at 9.15 a.m. at Kranti Maidan, Ponda Similarly the Flag hoisting ceremony at Vasco would be performed at the hands of Minister for Power Shri Milind Naik, at 9.15 a.m. at Tilak Maidan, Vasco.

 The Director of Sports & Youth Affairs will organize Prabhat Pheries on August 15, 2015 involving children and citizens. It will also organize cycle races and marathon races after the function, where children and citizens can participate. The Raj Bhavan Dona Paula Old Secretariat building and directorate of accounts building at Panaji and New Secretariat at Porvorim will be illuminated on the nights of 14th and 15th August 15, 2015.   

 The Governor of Goa will host a state reception at Raj Bhavan at 5.15 pm. on August 15, 2015.

 After the main function, the Chief Minister will proceed to Patradevi where he will lay wreath at the Martyr’s Memorial at Patradevi at 11.30 am where he along with other dignitaries will lay wreath at the spot where the Freedom Fighters were shot dead.

Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar and Speaker Rajendra Arlekar will address the people on the occasion.

Shri Shyamsundar Nagvekar, President of Goa Daman and Diu Freedom Fighters Association Panaji and Shri Chandrakant Kenkre President, of Freedom Fighters Association Ponda will also express their views on the occasion.
