Goa government to implement strict fishing ban in the state says state fisheries director

02/06/2014 …. Goa government has imposed 61 day fishing ban in the state between June 1 and July 31, 2014 in a bid to conserve fish, Director of fisheries Dr Sharmila Monteiro informed goareporter.

The state government has already issued a notification stating that the government having regard to the need to conserve fish, hereby prohibits fishing by fishing vessels fitted with mechanical means of propulsion and by means of trawler nets and purse-seine net, except fishing by registered motorized canoes fitted with outboard or inboard motors of up to 10 hp capacity a means of propulsion using gill nets only, along with the sea coast of the state of Goa and the territorial waters of the state, for a period of 61 days from June 1 to July 31,2014.

All the fishing jetties across the state would be sealed by government officials during this period.

Dr monteiro said that the ban on fishing along Goan waters during  the monsoon would be strictly enforced with the help of the Navy and the Coast Guard so as to ensure that vessels from the neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka do not venture in Goan territory during the ban period.

Dr monteiro also stated that the state fisheries department would also have a new patrol vessel by the state of next fishing ban in the state

Speaking to goanreporter over the issue of why the state congress party had not taken any action on its mla’s specially on its mla’s mauvin godinho who had done anti party activities during the recent held lok Sabha elections and also had shown signs of moving out of the congress party gpcc president john Fernandes said that there were certain mla’s within the party who wanted to remain unattached instead of resigning from the party and going for a bye election missing using the provision of the tenth schedule

Fernandes said that there were certain mla’s within his party who were trying to misuse the provisions of the tenth schedule constitution of anti defection law and therefore he felt that some of the provisions in the law had to be reviewed..

GPCC preisdent hopeful of central bjp government solving goan mining and dual citizenship issues

state tourism department to carry out first trials of sea plane service by mid July says Tourism Minister dilip parulekar

30/05/2014 … In order to boost its tourism related activities the state tourism department would carry out its first trials of the tourism-oriented sea plane service by mid July said Tourism Minister dilip parulekar.

The sea plane service will be operated by Mumbai-based mehair civil aviation company and the state government expects a certain amount of percentage from the revenue generation of the sea plane tourism services

Speaking to media reporter’s tourism minister dilip parulekar said that the sea plane services would start its trials in the mandovi river from 15th of july and would have four to five point locations in the tourist belts starting with dabolim airport.

Parulekar said that the state government would give the required infrastructure to the concerned company for carrying out the sea plane tourism activities

It may be noted that chief minister Manohar Parrikar had recently promised the pwd contract workers of regularizing them from their contract system and had also assured of giving first preference to the pwd contract workers whenever permanent jobs were advertised in the pwd department …

Presently there are more than 1,400 workers who have been working under the contract systems in the department for more than twenty five years in various sections of roads, water and sewage in the pwd department …

Speaking to media reporter’s premanath kalangutkar, vice president of pwd labour supply society union said the chief minister Manohar Parrikar had assured them to put their things in order by 16th of next month …

Addressing media persons at the conference hall at the secretariat chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that a total of 24 new post of various categories along with 7 post which was waiting to be filled had been approved in the vigilance department who would work on investigating cases in a faster pace well as delivering judgement in pending cases …

Commenting over the issue of deu chodankar facebook case Parrikar said that his government had no role in the full episode and whatever procedures that were followed by the state police department were done as per the rule of the Supreme Court orders

26/05/2014 … A delegation of the members from the civil society led by fatorda independent mla vijai sardessai on Monday met the state director general of police t n mohan and appraised him over the police officials harassment towards the Young shipping professional Devu Chodankar who is facing arrest for his comments on Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi on a Facebook forum

It may be noted in a post in March this year, Chodankar had in his facebook comment had stated that if Modi comes to power, he would unleash a ‘holocaust’, a post that the police claimed was later deleted.

Chodankar had posted the comment on March 23 and was summoned by Goa police on May 12. He has been booked under the contentious section 66A of the IT Act along with sections of 153(A) and 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code.

The FIR was registered by former chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries Atul Pai Kane.

But on last Saturday Goa Police’s attempt to arrest deu for making anti-Narendra Modi comment was opposed by members of the Civil society activists who believed police interest in a Facebook post was draconian after which even a protest was held outside the police headquarters in Panaji on Saturday.
