Panaji, September 10, 2019 ….The Directorate of Transport has compiled monthly report of number of accidents that occurred and number of Challans issued for the month of July 2019.

As per the report there were 233 road accidents of which 14 were Fatal Accidents (North Goa – 8 and South Goa – 6), 10 Grievous Accidents (North Goa – 0 and South Goa – 10), 47 Minor Accidents (North Goa – 18 and South Goa – 29) and 162 Non – Injury Accidents (North Goa – 88 and South Goa – 74).

The total number of persons who lost their lives in road accidents were 14 (North Goa – 8 and South Goa – 6). 11 riders, 2 P/Riders and 1 Pedestrian lost their lives in these accidents.

13 people were Grievously Injured (North – 1 and South – 12) while 74 persons suffered Minor Injuries (North – 28, South – 46).

A total 5136 Challans were issued by Transport authorities in the month of July 2019.

Panaji: September 7,2019….The Indian Red Cross Society-Goa has collected Rs.1.50 Lakhs being a contribution from three Rotary Clubs of Panaji namely Rotary Club of Miramar, Rotary Club of Panaji and Rotary Club of Riveira and Members of Goa Petrol Dealers Association who generously contributed towards the Kolhapur Relief fund.

The Demand Draft of the said amount was handed over to Governor of Goa, Smt. Mridula Sinha who is also the President of Indian Red Cross Society Goa (IRCS-Goa), at a simple function at Raj Bhavan Donapaula today.  The Demand Draft will be carried by Chairman of IRCS-Goa, Shri Gaurish Dhond to Kolhapur and hand over the same to the Rotary Movement Kolhapur (RI District 3170).

Also present on the occasion were Vice-Chairman of IRCS-Goa Shri Manguirish Pai Raikar,Member of IRCS-Goa, Shri Rajesh Salgaonkar, Members of Rotary Club of Miramar, Smt. Pratima Dhond, Shri Anshul Singhal, Members of Rotary Club of Panaji, Shri Parag Sardesai, Shri Sanat Pilgaonkar, Members of Rotary Club of Riveira, Shri Yogish Kulkarni, Shri Sairaj Dhond and Officials of  Petrol Dealers Association, Shri Narhar Thakur and Shri Gaurish Dalvi.

Panaji:  September 6, 2019 … The Indian Diaspora Youth, 40 member participant group under the 55^th Know India Programme will be on 10 day visit to Goa starting from September 7, to 16, 2019.

The Ministry of External Affairs has been organizing the Know India Programme to create awareness amongst the Indian Diaspora Youth about India’s cultural heritage and various aspects of contemporary India.

The Diaspora during their visit to the State will on the Chief Minister,  Dr. Pramod Sawant on September 9, 2019 and the Governor, Dr. Mridula Sinha; Speaker, Shri Rajesh Patnekar and the Commissioner for NRI Affairs on September 12, 2019.

Panaji, September 05, 2019 .. The Governor, Smt. Mridula Sinha has conveyed her best wishes to all the teachers on the occasion of Teacher’s Day. In her message, the Governor said, “In India, Teacher’s day is celebrated every year on 5^th September as a mark of accolade to the part played by the teachers in the society. 5^th September is also the birth anniversary of India’s first Vice President, Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was a great philosopher, academician, and above all a great teacher, and hence this day is recognized as Teacher’s Day.”

The Governor further said, “Teachers nourish and prepare students for whole life as they are the real icon of knowledge and wisdom. It is our teachers who stand behind our success. They helps us to improve our knowledge, skill level, confidence as well as they shape us to choose the right path in life and to get success.”

Quoting the former President of India, A.P. J. Abdul Kalam, the Governor said, “If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, mother and a teacher.” This was an illustrious saying of India’s missile Man, Late. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. The quote epitomizes the influence of teachers on every individual’s mind and the society as a whole. Standing just next to the parents in lead, teachers are truly an indispensable part of everyone’s life. They mold and nourish individuals talent and their capabilities.

Highlighting the role of teachers, the Governor said, “Dr.S. Radhakrishnan in his book, “Political Thinkers of Modern India”, indicates the significance of teachers and education in a democratic country like ours. According to him, teachers play a massive role in building of the nation and for that reason, they deserve more respect. He also wrote a book on Bhagvad Gita in which he characterized teacher as a Guru, “The one who emphasizes on presentation to converge different currents of thoughts to the same end”.

          Appealing to the teaching community, the Governor said, “On this occasion, I appeal to the teaching community of Goa to continue to steadfastly strive to attain higher standards of professional excellence and to continually serve the society with a renewed sense of dedication, devotion and commitment to the progress of the State.”

Panaji: September 02, 2019 …The prospectus for M.Sc. Nursing program for the year 2019-2020 will be available for sale from September 5, 2019 at the Office of the Institute of Nursing Education, Bambolim, Goa  during office hours (10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  and on Saturday (10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon). Details  can be obtained from the website www. dhsgoa.gov.in.

The last date for submission of complete application forms  alongwith testimonials  for the M.Sc. Nursing Programme is  September 16, 2019 by 4:00 p.m.

Panaji: September 01, 2019 ….The Commission has observed on previous occasions and  during the General Elections to Lok Sabha 2019, that many complaints with respect to the discrepancies in the electoral roll were received from the electors/citizens, emerging the need for correcting and authenticating the demographic details and images of all the electors in the electoral roll in a campaign mode with the help of SVEEP, by involving the electors to achieve the improvement of the health of Electoral Roll.

Accordingly, the Commission has directed to launch a special Electors Verification Programme (EVP) during the pre-revision period before the actual start of Summary Revision 2020.

          The Citizens are requested upon to come forward and authenticate the existing electors’ details relating thereto, by giving a copy of one of the following documents: (1) Indian Passport, (2) Driving Licence, (3) Aadhaar Card, (4) Ration Card, (5) Identity Card for Government/Semi-Government officials, (6) Bank Passbooks, (7) Farmer’s Identity Card

          The Electors may verify the existing details in the Electoral Roll through “Voter Helpline” mobile app or login at NVSP Portal. They can also visit the Common service Centres (CSCs) or Voter Facilitation Centre at ERO Office. The PwD electors may call on 1950 i.e. Voter Helpline.

The Schedule for Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls with respect to January 01, 2020 as the qualifying date, is as follows:

The Pre-Revision Activities are as follows-From September 01, 2019 till September 30, 2019 there will be Electors Verification Programme (EVP) and House to House verification by the BLOs.

The Revision Activities are as follows- Publication of Integrated draft electoral Roll will be on October 15, 2019. Period for filing of Claims and Objections is from October 15, 2019 to November 30, 2019.

Special Campaign Dates will be November 02 and 03, 2019 and November 09- 10, 2019. Disposal of Claims and Objections will be done by December 15, 2019. Checking of Health parameters and obtaining Commissions permission for final publication will be done by December 25, 2019. Updating database and printing of supplements will be done by December 31, 2019. Final Publication of Electoral Roll will be from January 01, 2020 to January 15, 2020 as decided by the Commission.

Panaji: August 31, 2019 …Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant today inaugurated Indoor Stadium Gymnasium at Multipurpose Hall in Sankhali. Present on the occasion were Shri Dharmesh Saglani, Chairperson, Sankhali Municipal Council, Shri Anand Kanekar, Councillor of Sankhali Municipal Council, Shri Yeshwant Desai, Shri Shailendra Kanekar, Shri Shyam Pednekar and others.

This was long pending demand of the local youths and the   Chief Minister,  had assured them. The youths in and around Sankhali have appreciated the efforts of the Chief Minister for providing hi tech gymnasium equipments at the Indoor Stadium in Sankhali .
