this year the festival would feature noteworthy resource people like Malaika Vaz, Dr Mickey Meta, Pralhad Kakar and Swami Smaranananda Giri.

Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude said that the basic idea behind organising this festival was to induce the growth of knowledge, educationally and generally.” The organisers have keenly picked out personalities to enrich the participants

Twenty-one-year-old Malaika Vaz, a National Geographic explorer, adventurer and wildlife presenter was the speaker on the first day of the event wherein she enlightened the public on her passion for adventure sports and environment. She also spoke on conservation and the popularization of science.

Festival of Ideas is a popular festival held annually, featuring eminent persons as speakers. Damodar Dharmananda Kosambi (1907–1966) has been an inspiration to many across the world, especially to Sanskrit philologists and Marxist scholars and the State government instituted the annual festival in February 2008 to commemorate his birth centenary.

The second day will feature Mehta, a leading global holistic health guru and a corporate life coach. He has life-coached billionaires, politicians, Bollywood stars, Miss Worlds and Miss Universes. He will talk on the topic ‘From Harlem to Harvard’

while Kakar, chairman and Founder of the Prahlad Kakar School of Branding and Entrepreneurship, will take the audience on a journey from ‘Goa-Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow’. He is also the Advertising Film Director for Genesis Films.

On the last day, Giri, the Vice President of Yogod Satsang Society of India, will speak on ‘Leading a Balanced and Joyous life Through Yoga- Meditation’. He has conducted a number of talks and interactive sessions throughout India and abroad.

October 8, 2015….. The ON LINE REGISTRATION OF C-FORM HAS BEEN STARTED IN FRRO, GOAes regarding on line registration of C-form has been started in FRRO, Goa under IVFRT (Immigration, Visa, Foreigners Registration & Tracking) system w.e.f. 25/06/2014.

The registration of C-Forms is mandatory under Rule 14(4) & (6) of Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992. As per Section 14(4), “Every particular, other than the signature of the keeper of a hotel or a visitor, which is required by this rule to be recorded in the said register, shall be recorded by the keeper of the hotel and in the English language, if he is so able, or otherwise, in an Indian language.

As per Section 14(6),The keeper of the hotel shall, as soon as may be but not more than twenty –four hours, after the arrival of any foreigner, transmit a copy of Form-C ,duly completed from the particulars furnished by such a foreigner ,to the Registration Officer.”

As per section 5 of The Registration of Foreigners Act 1939, “Any person who contravenes, or attempts to contravene, or fails to comply with, any provision of any rule made under this Act shall be punished, if a foreigner, with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both, or if not a foreigner with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees”

In the first phase only the Hotels, Guest houses were issued User ids for submitting C-Forms online of foreigners. Whereas the residents letting out premises to foreigners, the C-Forms were being accepted at Police stations/FRRO office manually.

As approved by Dy.Director BOI New Delhi the resident letting out their individual houses, rooms, flats to the foreigners on rent by entering into leave & license agreement will be issued /approved User ids for enabling them to fill/register C-Forms online of the foreigners

All the residents letting out such premises to foreigners on rent are advise to report /approach FRRO office at Police Head Quarters Panaji along with hard copy of request letter for approval of User id which has to be printed from the website boi.gov.in during office hours to get the ‘C’ Form user registration approved for enabling them to fill the C-Forms atleast by 15.10.2015

It may be also noted that manual C-Forms will not be accepted at Police Stations or at FRRO office Panaji after 15.10.2015.

Panaji :: December 23, 2019  ..The meeting of Goa state Environment Protection Council was held at the Raj Bhavan today. Governor Shri. Satya Pal Malik chaired the meeting. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, Minister for Ports Shri. Michael Lobo and Minister for Power Shri. Nilesh Cabral.

Leader of Opposition Shri Digambar  Kamat besides MLAs Shri Pratapsingh Rane,  Shri Churchill Alemao, Shri. Ramkrishna Dhavalikar, Shri Vijay Sardesai, Smt Alina Saldanha, Shri. Prasad Gaonkar and Shri. Dayanand Sopte also attended the meeting.

Issues such as proposed Solid Waste Management Facility at Cacora and Bainguinim, Solid Waste Management Facility at Verna and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Chicalim, Establishment of Common Hazardous Waste Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility (CHWTSDF) – Pissurlem, Establishment of Common Bio-medical waste treatment and Disposal Facility (CBWTDF), Other Waste Management initiatives through GWMC to comply with the Rules notified by the MoEF & CC, Status of Construction and Demolition waste & sites in Goa were discussed.

 The meeting also took note of the current status of Mhadei river dispute. Status of Coastal protection initiatives to protect beach erosion in Goa, Mineral Policy, River Rejuvenation Action Plan, CZMP for the State of Goa, the study of tar balls surfacing on Goa beach and demarcation of ESA’s in the Western Ghats were also discussed in the meeting.

Environmentalists Dr. Nandkumar Kamat, Shri. Rajendra Kerkar, Shri. K.D. Sadhale, a scientist from NIO Dr. Sushant Naik gave their inputs on various issues.

The Chief Secretary Shri Parimal Rai IAS welcomed the dignitaries and Secretary Environment Shri Puneet Kumar Goel IAS proposed the vote of thanks. The meeting was also attended by Collector (North) Smt. R.Menaka IAS and other officers of various Government Departments.

Panaji: September 1, 2015 … The General Elections to 11 Municipals Councils are due to be held on October 25^th, 2015.

The preparatory work for Municipal Election has been announced by the State Election Commissioner. The Returning Officers and Assistant Returning Officers are already working on the job.

The Election scheduled commence from September 30^th, 2015 and concludes with the counting of votes on October 27^th, 2015.

 Panaji: June 02,2018 … The Tourism Minister Shri Manohar  Azgaonkar  said that the Government is exploring possibility of employment generation in the state in private as well as public sector. He said once the work of  International Mopa Airport completes there would be ample opportunities of  employment   for  local youth..

Shri Azgaonkar was speaking at a Hearse Van handover function held at Pernem yesterday. The facility of hearse van is provided under MPLAD fund to cater to the need of local people.

Shri Azgaonkar further said that the Government under Department of Tourism  have  undertaken various developmental  works which comprises  of major  project  of beautification of road  entering from high way to Pernem Bazar. The project  includes the work of improvement of road, widening, illumination, walking   track   etc. He lauded the efforts taken  by Ayush Minister Shri Shripad Naik in providing  hearse  van   for the people of Pernem under MPLAD funds..

The Minister of State for AYUSH  ( Independent Charge) Shri Shripad Naik while speaking said that the facility of hearse van provided  to the Pernem   will help  the needy  and poor being a great relief to them in times of sorrow.
