SATTARI TO GET A FACE LIFT: RANE

Panaji December 21, 2017  … Health Minister, Shri Vishwajeet Rane asserting that the Government is pro-active under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar informed that the entire Sattari taluka will soon get a new facelift with various infrastructure facilities.

Shri Vishwajeet Rane was speaking as a chief guest at Dhangar Mahotsav organised on the occasion of Anniversary celebration of Goa Dhangar Samaj Seva Sangh Sattari held at Bhuipal Sattari, yesterday.

Shri Rane maintained that initiatives have been taken to provide new infrastructure facilities to Valpoi hospital with a vision to bring Sattari on par with other talukas. The hospital will be soon upgraded with minor operation theatre, ultra sound, X-Ray facility, dialysis unit, medicine facility on par with Goa Medical College, he added.

Listing the projects which are in the pipeline like new RMD at Pissurlem, beautification of Honda and Keri villages, hot mixing of roads, modern Aanganwadi/ play school etc, Shri Rane reiterated that the long pending land issue in Sattari, will soon be resolved.

Government is working for the progress and welfare of people irrespective of cast creed and community Shri Rane said pointing that Dhangar community is developing and reaching the highest position in every field.

Complimenting the Dhangar Community for reaching great height in every field and congratulating the meritorious students who excelled in their respective streams, he urged everybody to live and work together for the progress of the Taluka.

Shri Rane felicitated various students from Dhangar Community for the meritorious achievement and various Panchayat members form Dhangar Community for achieving success in their respective field.

Dhangar Samaj Seva Sangh Sattari also felicitated Health Minister, Shri Vishwajeet Rane and Adv Saresh Lotlikar for their social service towards their Community.

Adv Saresh Lotlikar, Shri Sagun Wadkar, Smt Ankita Navelkar, President, Zilla Panchayat and Shri Premnath Hazare, Zilla Panchayat Member also spoke on the occasion.

Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar addressed members of media at Secretariat, Porvorim.

21/08/2015 … The Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar scheduled a Press Conference on thursday and addressed Press & Media representatives onthe incident of two IDC Field Officers being arrested.

 In his statement he stated that his Anti-Corruption Branch laid a trap on receiving a complaint and arrested the two field officers of IDC which points to steps being taken by his Government in the highest traditions of public trust without fear or favour.

 The Chief Minister also stated that some elements were trying to highlight the relation of one of the arrested officer’s with him and draw comparisons to other ongoing investigations, which was inappropriate. He went on to state that though he does not deny the officer being a relative, he would ensure that the law will take its own course as in all other matters. He further emphasized his expectations of people associated with him being transparent and responsible in their dealings while maintaining highest moral conduct.

 The Chief Minister firmly stated of taking pride in running the Government on zero-tolerance-to-corruption basis. In the concerned matter he had asked the Chief Secretary to instruct the Industries Department and IDC to immediately place the concerned officials under suspension and initiate disciplinary proceedings.

 The Chief Minister also made clear his expectations on the conduct of all government officials being upright and doing nothing that will be unbecoming of the public interest reposed in them. He warned that failure in doing so would lead to the strictest action and that no one’s wrong-doing will go unpunished in keeping with our principles of zero-tolerance to corruption and acting without fear or favour.

3RD MANDOVI CABLE STAY BRIDGE TO BE INAUGURATED ON JAN 27

Panaji. January 26, 2019 …The newly constructed third cable stayed  bridge across Mandovi bridge will be inaugurated tomorrow on January 27, 2019.

 The Mandovi River Cable Stay Bridge was an important project proposed by GSIDC (Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation) and designed by L & T Infrastructure Ltd; constructed by L&T heavy Civil Infrastructure.

 In order to overcome the bottlenecks caused at Panaji KTC Circle, and Panaji Entrance as same route was used by local traffic as well as NH-17 Highway bound traffic, this project was proposed. It is reported that about 66,000 vehicles use this route every day. The congestion of traffic for hours led to a huge mess ad nuisance, especially during the peak tourist season in Goa.

          This 4-lane Cable stayed bridge in the State of Goa across the river Mandovi in between the two existing bridges will support and sustain burgeoning traffic and will be an aesthetically pleasing landmark for tourism development in the State of Goa.

          To be precise, the Mumbai bound traffic incoming from Bangalore via Ponda route and Old Goa i.e. Madgaon and even from Panaji can be collectively sent towards NH-17 through an elevated bridge, bypassing the main Panjim City. The Cable Stay Bridge also adds an architectural beauty to the capital of Goa, Panaji. Total Bridge Length of the Bridge is 5.1(km including approaches).

          The bridge is made of 1,00,000 m3 of High Strength, High Performance  Concrete(enough to fill 40 Olympic size swimming pools), 13,000 MT of Corrosion resistant Reinforcement Steel, 32000 square meter of Structural Steel Plates, 1800 km of High Tensile Pre-stressing strands, 265 Nos of MSM® Spherical Bridge Beaings, 88 High Tensile Strength Cables in State-of-the-art Single Place Harp type Cable Stay System equipped with real-time Force Monitoring technology (DYNA Force ® ) and toal weight of the bridge  2,50,000 tons(weight of 570 Boeing-747 jumbo jets).

The Heroic Saint Francis Xavier released

24/11/2014 …. A book titled The Heroic Saint Francis Xavier was released by the Archbishop-Patriarch Emeritus Rev Raul Gonsalves in presence of Bishop of Mangalore Aloysius D’ Souza and others after the opening ceremony mass of the Exposition of the Sacred Relics of St. Francis Xavier on November 22, 2014 at Old Goa.

The extensively researched, illustrated with sketches, maps of the journeys, paintings, plans and colour photographs  was presented by the author to the Archbishop Emeritus for release. The book has a foreword by Fr. Francisco Caldeira. The Nihil Obstat is given by Fr. Manuel Pascoal Gomes, historian and Imprimatur for the book is granted by Archbishop-Patriarch Filipe Neri Ferrão.

The major achievement of this book is that the story of St. Francis Xavier unfolds inside-out. The book accompanies him on his travels against the background of war, politics, and intrigues. Long waits, patient focusing, administrative acumen and unwavering determination define his strong personality. His disappointments, doubts about himself serving God adequately, his acceptances of failure, his physical weaknesses, and his illnesses reveal a human being who rises above limitations and restrictions in his zeal to serve God and the people he cared for. His prayers, letters, comments reveal the inner man candidly.

His last journey, from the place of his death to the final resting place in Old Goa, is brought vividly to life. The awed adorations, the doubts, the examinations and the dissections come to life as if we are eye witnesses to the events.

MOCK DRILL AT IOCL & HPCL ON AUG 29

Margao:  August 06, 2018 … The District Magistrate and Chairperson of South Goa District Crisis Group, Dr. TariqThomas have decided to conduct a mock drill between 10.30 a.m. to 12.00 Noon on August 29, 2018 at Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Hindustan Petroluem Corporation Ltd, Vasco.  The drill is a part of the planned activity to have such drills at all the 8 Major Accidental Hazardous Units (MAH) in South Goa.

The South District Magistrate, Dr. Thomas assesing the risk areas in the likely scenario, i.e, the fruit and the vegetable market along with others during the drill expressed the need to co-ordinate with the people  undertaking the activity by having a meeting with the stakeholders by the concerned agencies.

Dr. Thomas stressed the need to have minimal disruptions of normal life of putting the general public to inconvenience and difficulties and felt that the people in the vicinity should participate for their own good – to prepare themselves for actual reality.

Dr. Thomas called upon all the line agenies to appoint a Nodal Officer for the purpose and sought co-operation to ensure and improvise upon the SOP to meet any eventualities in real life.

The general public are informed that the traffic F.L. Gomes Road will be diverted through the Swanthatha Road during the aforesaid time on the given day and appealed to the people to co-operate with the authorities.

It may be informed that the South Goa District Crisis Group have recently successfully conducted drills at two installations, namely, Zuari Agro Chemcials Ltd. and Zuari Indian Oil Ltd. out of the 8 Major Accidental Hazardous Units (MAH) in South Goa.  The objective of the drills is to create awareness among the residents of the locality on how to take safety measures and prepare themselves during such incidences.  

GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATIONS MEETING HELD

Panaji, September 23, 2014 … Smt. Nila Mohanan, IAS , Collector of North Goa District chaired the meeting convened to discuss  the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti to be held on October 2, 2014 at  Se Old Goa in Tiswadi Taluka held at Conference hall,   Collectorate ,  North Goa , Panaji, recently.

            The meeting discussed at length the matters pertaining to finalizing the programme, Seating arrangements, parking, traffic diversion, maintain law and order, transport arrangements for school children. The Collector  instructed the concerned Departments to initiate necessary action in this regards to make celebrations  a success.

 The meeting further deliberated on  erecting of Pandal and  installation of sound system and illumination of  Mahatma  Gandhi Statue.  The authorities of the Public Works Department and Electricity Department were instructed  to  take necessary  action in this connection.

            The other issues  such as wide publicity to the Gandhi Jayanti celebration, erection of speed breakers wherever  required   and other related  issues were discussed at the meeting.

            The meeting was attended by Shri Swapnil Naik, Addl. Collector, North Goa,  Smt. Sheru Shirodkar, Dy. Collector and Senior Officers from PWD, Suptd. Of Police (Traffic), Suptd. Of Police, North Goa, PWD, Electricity,  Education,   Panchayats  and others.

COUNTRY’S 1ST GI STORE OPENS AT GOA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Panaji, January 29, 2019 … …Minister for Civil Aviation Shri. Suresh Prabhu today inaugurated India’s 1st Geographical Indication (GI) Store at Goa International Airport in Dabolim. The store is located on the 1st floor on Departure Terminal, and jointly set up by Airport Authority of India(AAI) and The Cashew Export Promotional Council of India(CEPCI). Members of Parliament Shri. Narendra Sawaikar and Shri. Vinay Tendulkar, Minister for Tourism Shri. Manohar T. Ajgaonkar, Minister for Town and Country Planning Shri. Vijay Sardesai, Minister of Panchayat Shri. Mauvin Godinho were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Prabhu informed that currently there are 270 GI registered products in the country and the store will be a boon for the global tourists. “All airports in India will have a GI stalls in the coming future. These stalls will also promote local products, handicrafts and geographical talent. Goan Feni is one of the GI products, and Mankurad Mango is a local specialty. The AAI will soon sign an agreement with all the State Governments in the country to promote their local produce at the airport,” the Minister told.

The Minister also told that products from self-help groups, artisans and farmers’ produce will be also displayed on the airport at a concessional rate. “The Ministry of Commerce has already made a proposal to overseas Trade Missions. If the Trade Missions across the globe agree to display our products, it will be very profitable for the rural sector. Japan, Korea and other Scandinavian countries have already agreed to keep our Marine products with a little value addition at their airports. International Trade Expos is another destination to keep these products on display,” he informed. He further added that in the coming future all the GI stores will have a similar design, designed by National Institute of Design. We have a very rich cultural heritage. Hence, our archives will be digitized soon and made available to the general public, Shri. Prabhu said.

            Earlier, the Minister inspected the new stall in the presence of other Ministers and traders. Ministers Shri Ajgaonkar and Shri. Godinho also spoke on the occasion.
