MONITORING COMMITTEE TO ENFORCE CABLE ACT & RULES FOR SOUTH DISTRICT RECONSTITUTED

Margao:  November 27, 2017 … The District Magistrate, South Goa, has reconstituted the “District Level Monitoring Committee” for the Programmes and Advertisement telecast by Cable TV Channels for the South Goa District to enforce the Cable Act & Rules as per Clause of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, New Delhi.

The Committee comprises Collector & District Magistrate, South Goa  as Chairperson; Shri V.G. Khedekar, Eng. Assistant, All India Radio, Altinho, Panaji; Superintendent of Police(South); Additional Collector-I, South(District Public Relation Officer); Principal, Carmel College for Women, Nuvem; Smt Paciencia Cardozo, Sangath (NGO working for children Welfare); Smt Siddhi Parodkar, Representative, Bailancho Ekvott, (NGO working for women), Margao; Principal ,G.R. Kare College of Law, Comba, Margao; Dr. Sachin Moraes, Asst. Professor, (Sociology), Smt Parvathibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Gogol, Margao and Dr. Tanya Marchon, Assoc. Professor,(Psychology), Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim as Members.  Shri Allwyn Pereira, Assistant Information Officer, Department of Information & Publicity, will be the Member Secretary of the Committee.

The Committee has been set up to have an enforcement mechanism to ensure that the provisions of Cable Television Networks(Regulation), Act, 2004 are not violated.

 

ALBERT DEVELOPERS CRICKET TOURNEY FINALS

PANAJI: 26th November 2017 … Pajim Sports Club defeated Albert Developers Tigers by 83 runs to emerge victorious in the final of the Albert Developers Sports Club 1st Season Ball Cricket Tournament play at Sports Authority of Goa ground, Panjim, on Saturday.

Electing to bat first, Panjim Sports Club left no stone unturned as they scored 167 runs with a loss of six wickets. Hero of the match Robin D’Souza put up a splendid shoe as he scored 84 runs in 49 balls while Ilyas Naroo (27), Bhuddadev Mangaldas (28) and Anvay Naik (10) were the other top scorers.

At the other end Albert Developers Tek Bahadur put up a brilliant show as he picked the wickets.
In reply, Albert Developers Tigers managed to get only 84 runs on the scoreboard before they were bowled out in the 14th over.

Devidas Kholkar (35) and Anand Badri (10) scored the highest for Albert Developers Tigers however the bowling from Panjim Sports Club was commendable as in form Robin D’Souza picked three wickets while Hemant Khot, Vickey Karaporkar and Tushar Narvekar picked two wickets each to guide their team to victory.

ASSESSMENT CAMP UNDER THE SCHEME “RASHTRIYA VAYOSHRI YOJANA TO SENIOR CITIZENS

Panaji, November 25, 2017 …  The North Goa District Committee under the chairmanship of Collector North has scheduled an assessment camp under the Scheme “RASHTRIYA VAYOSHRI YOJANA” a scheme for Providing Physical Aids and Assisted Living Devices to Senior Citizens belonging to BPL Category.

The schedule of assessment camp are as follows : on November 27, 2017, Tiswadi Taluka at  PHC Corlim, November 28, 2017, Bardez Taluka at Azad Bhavan Porvorim, November 29, 2017 at CHC Valpoi, November 30, 2017, at CHC Pernem, December 1, 2017 at PHC Sanquelim from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

The scheme aims to address the disability/infirmity such as Low vision, Hearing impairment, Loss of teeth and Locomotor disability.

 The scheme proposes to provide the Aids and Assisted Living Devices to eligible elderly beneficiaries depending upon their physical impairment such as Walking sticks, Elbow crutches, Walker /Crutches, Tripods/Quad pods, Hearing Aids, Wheelchair, Artificial Dentures and Spectacles.

 The Requirement /Documents to be brought at the time of assessment camp are Aadhar Card or acknowledgment slip of Aadhar card and BPL Identity Proof/Antyodaya card.

GOA PAVILION EVOKES GOOD RESPONSE AT NEW DELHI.

Panaji, November 24th. 2017 ….. The Goa Pavilion set up at India International Trade Fair, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi has been receiving tremendous response from Delhiites and the people from adjoining states. This is evident from the innumerable number of footfalls at the Goa Pavilion since its inauguration on November 14, 2017. This annual event will conclude on November 27, 2017 and by this time it is expected that more and more people will visit the Goa Pavillion which is spread on a land admeasuring 150 sq.mts in hanger 15.

          Every year the Goa State participates in IITF, a mega international trade fair with the prime objective of showcasing the progress and development made by Goa in varied sectors besides to project Goan cuisine and hospitality, promote tourism in a big way, attract industries to generate employment avenues and promote industrial growth and investment in the state.

          The Dept. of information and publicity is the nodal agency for the participation of Goa at IITF which coordinates with other participating departments and corporations which includes Dept. of Tourism, Dept. of Industries, Trade and commerce, GHRSSIDC, GTDC and GIDC.

          At Goa Pavilion the brochures incorporating the achievements of the state Government under Tourism, Industries and Information Technology are being distributed to the visitors, besides the officials attached to Department of Information and Publicity, Industries, Tourism and GTDC are guiding and providing              requisite information  to the visitors about Goa state.

          During the two week long IITF period the artists attached to Sidhivinayak Kala Sangh, Mardol are enthralling, the Delhiites and other people visiting the Goa Pavilion with traditional Goan Culture with their splendid performances. In addition to this, the artisans attached to Goa handicrafts Corporation are making brisk sale of their handicraft items.

CHIEF MINISTER LAUDS INITIATIVES OF ROTARY CLUB

Panaji:-November 23, 2017 …. Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar Provided vehicles to Mission Rabies through Rotary global grants and also handed over mobile library van to Goa state Library at a function organised by Rotary club of Panaji Mid-Town, CSR initiative by Automobile Corporation of Goa, at a function held at Directorate of Art & Culture today. The function was followed by Gifting letter of WINS facilities to over 20 Schools at the hands of Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar.

                    After distributing the gift letters to install WINS facilities to 20 schools, Shri Parrikar said this is one of the most important programme. He congratulated and appreciated Rotary group for such initiatives. Government will also carry out such extensive initiative like Rotary Club he added.

                Shri Parrikar also stressed on importance of Personal Hygiene and said that nobody should compromise on hygiene. He also appealed public to stop using plastic.

               Welcoming the gathering, President Rtn Ashish Verlekar said that mobile library van will move towards rural areas which will help to inculcate habit of reading in children of rural areas. He also said that Under WINS Project, 5 aspects of personal health for school children namely Safe drinking water, Hand washing, Segregated toilet for boys and girls, menstrual hygiene and most importantly training in using all these facilities will be provided. Pentair India Ltd is partner for WINS he added.

      Shri.Shrinvas Dempo who expressed his views said that it is extremely important to develop reading habits among the children. He also congratulated rotary club for initiative of WINS Project.

DSYA YOUTH FESTIVAL 2017

Panaji, November 22, 2017 …  To provide platform to youth the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs had organized zone level Youth Festival. The competitions will be held in 3 talukas each combining to form one Zone.

            Pernem, Bardez, Tiswadi talukas will be in zone – I, the events will be held at Farmers Co-Operative Society, Pernem on November 22, 2017. Zone II- Bicholim, Sattari, Dharbandora at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali on November 24 and 25, 2017. Zone III- Salcete, Mormugao, Ponda at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco on December 6 and 7, 2017.  Zone IV- Canacona, Quepem, Sanguem at Ravindra Bhavan, Curchorem on November 28 and 29, 2017.

          Two day state level – XVIth Youth Festival 2017 will be held at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda on December 13 and 14, 2017.  

          Common event for the first day at all the venues will be folk dance, one act play, elocution, classical vocal, harmonium and flute. Second day events will be folk songs, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, sitar, tabla and guitar.

NO LIMITATION FOR VALIDITY OF BIRTH AND DEATH CERTIFICATE

 Panaji : November 22, 2017 …. The office of the Chief Registrar of Births and Deaths and Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation clarified that the RBD Act 1969 and the Goa RBD Rules 1999 do not prescribe any period of limitation as regards the validity of Birth and Death Certificate issued under the above Act/Rules.

  The registration of birth and death is governed by the relevant provision(s) of the Registration of Births and Deaths (RBD) Act, 1969 and the Goa Registration of Birth and Deaths (RBD) Rules 1999.

 Section 12 of the said Act provides that the first copy of the Birth/Death Certificate shall be given free of charge to the informant as soon as the registration is completed. Subsequent additional copies may be obtained under Section 17 by any person on payment of fees as prescribed in the Goa RBD Rules 1999.

LAPTOPS DISTRIBUTED TO STUDENTS

Panaji : November 18, 2017 …. Minister for IT Shri Rohan Khaunte distributed 843 laptops to Higher Secondary from Porvorim and adjoining areas at a function held at Socorro Village Panchayat in Bardez Taluka today.

            The laptops have been distributed to students studying in 11th,  12th and those who have passed out 12th standard under the Cyberage Scheme implemented through the Directorate of Education and InfoTech Corporation of Goa.

            Around 45,000 laptops are being distributed throughout Goa under the scheme.

            Shri Glen Ticlo, MLA Aldona, Shri Ameya Abhyankar, Secretary IT, Shri G.P.Bhat, Director of Education, Sarpanch of Salvador de Mundo Shri Sandeep Salgaonkar, Sarpanch of Socorro, Shri Sandeep Varadkar, Sarpanch of Penha de Franca, Shri Swapnil Chodankar graced the function.

            The Students to whom the laptops are distributed are St. Thomas Higher Secondary, Aldona (416), Sanjay HS School, Porvorim, (36) and Vidhya Prabhodini HS, Porvorim(391).

            Speaking on the occasion Shri Rohan Khaunte impressed upon the students to use laptops in positive and right perspective to gain knowledge. He said having knowledge in an asset and could be use for positive purpose in life this will also help to improve their ability to become entrepreneurs besides getting preferred jobs. Above all, he said laptops should be used to become good citizens which will contribute to build the nature, he said.

            Mr. Khaunte further asked the parent to vouch the use of laptops by students for meaningful purpose and ensure that reading habits of the students do not decrease.

            Shri Glen Ticlo in his address asked the students to use the laptops in right perspective and for purposeful use so that they become good citizens.

            Director of Education Shri G.P.Bhat in his welcome address thanked the Government for distributing laptops three months prior to the exams.

THREE KONKANI BOOKS RELEASED AT RAJ BHAVAN

Panaji, November 21, 2017Governor of Goa Dr Smt. Mridula Sinha released three Konkani books written by Smt. Jyoti Kunkaliekar a Konkani writer at Raj Bhavan today.

 Shri Suresh Amonkar, Shri Suresh Kudchadkar,Shri Vaibhav Fondekar, Shri Pundalik Naik,Kum. Sampada Kunkolienkar, Smt. Vini Tandon Keni, Shri Vinayak Khedekar, Smt. Yashodhara  Katkar, Shri Audhut Kunkaliekar  were present on the ocassion.

The books “Agantuk”, “Shambhar Takke Budhwantrai” and “Mayuri” were released by the Governor.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor appreciated the initiative taken by the author and said that today’s literature based on history will be a source of information for future generation. She further stressed to lay more emphasis in creating new literature for posterity.

MINISTER FOR HOUSING BOARD DISTRIBUTES LAPTOPS TO STUDENTS UNDER CYBERAGE SCHEME

Panaji, November 21, 2017 …. Minister for Housing Board Shri Jayesh Salgaonkar distributed Laptops to students at Village Panchayat hall Reis-Magos, Bardez.The function was organized by Directorate of Education in collaboration with M/s. Info Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd yesterday.

 The students of the educational institutions which received the benefit of this scheme are V.M. Parulekar Higher Secondary School, Verem and Kendriya Vidyalaya I.N.S. Mandovi.

 Deputy Director of Directorate of Education, Shri R Samant ,Joint Managing Director ITG, Dr. Vijay Borges,Reis Magos Sarpanch Shri Shailendra Parulekar, Reis Magos Deputy  Sarpanch, Smt.Siya Nagvekar, Pilerne Sarpanch, Shri Amarnath Govekar,Nerul Sarpanch,Shri Piedade Almedia were present along with others  panch members.
