Goan Reporter:REGISTRATION OF WARKARI GROUPS FOR PANDHARPUR WARI

The Directorate of Art and  Culture has commenced the registration process of Warkari groups (Dindis) from Goa under the Scheme for Assistance to Warkaris from Goa, instituted to support and recognize the longstanding devotional tradition of Goan Warkaris participating in the annual Pandharpur Wari.

The scheme seeks to facilitate organized participation of Warkaris through a structured and transparent framework while preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage associated with the Warkari Sampradaya.

The Leaders are requested to submit duly filled Registration Forms along with required documents within the prescribed timeline. Dindi Pramukhs shall ensure proper scrutiny and verification of participant details prior to submission so as to prevent duplication and ensure authenticity of registrations.

The Registration Form is available on the official website of the Directorate of Art and  Culture, www.artandculture.goa.gov.in.  The last date for submission of applications is May 10,  2026.

Goan Reporter:PAID HOLIDAY FOR VOTERS TO GENERAL ELECTION TAMIL NADU ON APRIL 23,

General Administration Department has declared the April 23, 2026 as a ‘Paid Holiday’ being the ‘Polling Day’ for the General Elections to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, to every person employed in any business, trade, industrial undertaking or any other establishment and entitled to vote at the aforesaid General Election, throughout the State of Goa.

The paid holiday will be applicable to persons who are entitled to vote at the General Election to Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly such as workers of all establishments including commercial and industrial undertakings in the State of  Goa; daily wages/ casual workers employed in any business, trade, industrial undertakings, Government departments, State Government Industrial Department or any other establishment.

A power shut down has been arranged on April 23, 2026 from 9.30 a.m to 2.00 p.m at 11 KV Porvorim Bazzar feeder,  Porvorim  to carry out urgent maintenance works. Affected areas are VP Socorro, Prabhu, Socorro HTC, Karapurkar 20 point, Samarth Nagar, Police Housing Society, Alps Valley and surrounding area.

Similarly, a power shut down has been arranged on April 23, 2026 from 9.00 a.m to 2.00 p.m at 11 KV Arossim feeder, Verna (Majorda Sub-station to AB Switch in fields on Consaulim Verna Road   to carry out urgent maintenance works. Affected areas are Baddem, Falwaddo and Sukhbhat.

And also a power shut down has been arranged on April 24, 2026 from 9.00 a.m to 3.00 p.m at Old Maina DTC, Agarwada to carry out urgent maintenance works. Affected areas are Maina, near Sakhaleshwar temple, Troppa church Sodiem, near Bhagwan shop and surrounding area in V. P. Sodiem.

Goan Reporter:RATION QUOTA FOR MONTH OF MAY 2026

Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs has allotted ration quota for the month of May, 2026 under National Food Security Act, 2013 Antyodaya Anna Yojana and Priority Household (AAY and PHH) (Fortified Rice), Tide Over (APL)(Fortified Rice), Tide Over Wheat and Welfare Institution Scheme (Fortified Rice).

The allocation for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) is 35.00 kg Fortified rice per card at free of cost. The allocation for Priority Household (PHH) is 5.00 Kg Fortified Rice per Beneficiary at Free of Cost. The allocation for Above Poverty Line (APL) (Fortified Rice) is 12.00 Kg Fortified Rice per card at the cost of       Rs. 12.50 per kg. The allocation for Above Poverty Line (APL) is 10.00 Kg Wheat per card at the cost of Rs. 8.00 Kg. The allocation for Welfare Institution Scheme is as allotted 15 kgs Fortified Rice and Wheat per inmates either Rice/Wheat at the cost of Rs. 6.15 per kg and Rs. 4.80 per kg respectively.

M/s. Shalimar Transport and Contractor, Shalimar Function Hall, Rahemat Nagar, Parbhani are informed that the quota lifting should start with immediate effect and they should lift their released quota on or before April 30, 2026 strictly and no extension would be granted for lifting. The ration cardholders are required to take their entitlement for May, 2026  from their respective Fair Price Shops.

The Fair Price Shops dealers are required to display the details of stocks as well as sample quality of grains for consumer’s information and all cardholders/consumers are requested to give their complaints, if any to the respective Civil Supplies Assistant Director/ Inspector of Pernem, Bardez, Bicholim, Sattari, Tiswadi, Ponda, Salcete, Mormugao, Quepem, Sanguem and Canacona Taluka or Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Junta House, Panaji.

Goan Reporter:CAREER JAGOR INITIATIVE LAUNCHED TO STRENGTHEN CAREER GUIDANCE IN GOA

The statewide career guidance initiative Career Jagor for students of Classes 10 and 12 was launched today at Kala Academy, Panaji. The programme is organised by the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (GSCERT) and is being implemented in association with the Directorate of Education, Directorate of Higher Education, Directorate of Technical Education, and the Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.

 

The Career Jagor initiative will be rolled out across Goa from 24 April 2026. Under this initiative, nearly 600 teachers will be trained as “Career Ambassadors” to ensure structured career guidance reaches every school across the state. The programme aims to help students make informed career choices based on their interests, abilities, and emerging opportunities in a rapidly evolving world.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stated that Classes 10 and 12 are crucial stages in a student’s life, where timely and right guidance can have a lasting impact. He said that students already carry aspirations within themselves, and teachers play a key role in shaping and guiding those aspirations in the right direction.

 

He further highlighted that in today’s evolving world, students have opportunities across diverse fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, cybersecurity, digital media, tourism innovation, and entrepreneurship. He emphasised that skill development, reskilling, and continuous learning are essential to succeed in modern careers.

 

Stressing the need to move beyond conventional career choices, he urged teachers to guide students in exploring a wider range of opportunities aligned with their interests and strengths. Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision that “Yuva Shakti is Desh ki Shakti,” he called upon teachers to fulfil their role as Career Ambassadors with dedication and commitment.

 

The programme was attended by Secretary (Education), Shri Prasad Lolayekar, IAS; Director, Directorate of Higher Education & Directorate of Technical Education, Shri Bhushan Sawaikar; Director, Directorate of Education, Shri Shailesh Zingde; Director, Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Vinayak Kambli; Director, GSCERT, Smt. Meghana Shetgaonkar; Chairman, Goa Board, Shri Bhagirath Shetye; and State Project Director, Goa Samagra Shiksha, Shri Manoj Sawaikar, along with teachers from across the state.

 

Goan Reporter:CLOSURE OF LIQUOR OUTLETS DURING LAIRAI JATRA

District Magistrate, North Goa District has ordered the closure of all liquor outlets  situated in the areas of Shirgao, Assnora, Mulgaon, Corjuve and Mayem from 6.00 p.m of April 20, 2026 up to 12.00 noon of April 22, 2026.

The order is issued in view of Shree Lairai Zatra to be held on April 21, 2026 at Shirgao for maintaining public peace and prevent any untoward incidents.
