Panaji, September 2, 2014LIC is completing 58 years of its service to the nation  on September 1, 2014. To mark the occasion LIC’s is observing their 58th Anniversary Insurance Week begins from September 1 to September 7, 2014 in the country with various events.

          As part of the Insurance week celebrations the LIC’s Goa Division Office has chalked out various programmes during the week. Programmes such as planting of saplings, organization of Health Camp for children, Health cum Yoga for the staff, competitions for Agents, Drawing competitions for School Children and  Quiz competitions for Employees.

          Besides Special Service Desks will also opened in the branch offices to serve the customers, special drives for creating awareness of Insurance in rural areas will also be conducted, Customer Meets will also be held during the week.

GURUMURTHY CALLED FOR IMMEDIATE FINANCIAL INCLUSION OF NON CORPORATE SECTOR

01/09/2014 …. “The Non Corporate Small Business Sector which has outperformed Corporate Sector in terms of contribution in National GDP,  employment, exports and domestic manufacturing, needs a viable financial architecture for its structured development and to give a boost to national economy”-said well known economist and financial adviser Mr. S. Gurumurthy today at a National Round Table Conference on ” need of a financial architecture for non corporate small business” held at New Delhi today by Action Committee For Formal Finance For Non Corporate Small Business, a group constituted by various national organisations of non corporate sector including Traders, Transporters, Truck Operators, SMEs, self entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs, hawkers, labourers and other sectors.

 Mr. Gurumurthy while inaugurating the Round Table Conference said that the non corporate sector is economic backbone of the Country which produces a value addition of Rs.6.28 lakh crores per year but this sector is the most financially under-served limiting the economic progress of the nation. The banking institutions could able to provide only 4% financial needs of this sector.

There are about 5.77 crore unincorporated non-agricultural enterprises in informal sector providing employment to about 46 crore people in the Country out of which about 24 crore people are self employed.  He also said that about 61% enterprises in non corporate sector are owned by backward classes. He further said that the best way to make India’s economy fully formal is to extend the reach of the financial system.

Mr. Gurumurthy further said that 90% of the informal sector does not access outside source of finance.The Banks do not finance the non formal sector which are largely unregistered due to High HR cost to lend and also due to basel norms which makes it difficult to finance even registered MSME sector, leave aside the unregistered small business. Mr. Gurumurthy called for creation of Small Business Finance Companies or Institutions as a financial architecture for non corporate small business in the Country. He further said that the non corporate sector holds huge promise for entrepreneurship, self employment and livelihood and therefore there is an urgent need of financial empowerment of this sector in larger interest of the nation.

Mr. Praveen Khandelwal, National Coordinator of the Action Committee informed that similar Round Table Conferences shall be held at Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Hyderabad,Bangalore, Cochin, Nagpur, Bhopal and Kanpur within next two months. The Action Committee shall also hold  30 ” Jan Adalat”, a form of public hearing, in different states of the Country in next two months where people belonging to different groups of non corporate sector will narrate their problems and difficulties in obtaining requisite finance from banks and baking institutions. Such hearings will bring the ground realities of financial sector into limelight.

The Action Committee intends to prepare a White Paper based on the inputs received from Round Table Conferences and Jan Adalat which will be submitted to Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Commerce Minister, MSME Minister, Chief Ministers and Finance Ministers of different states and RBI Governor . Copies of the White Paper shall also be submitted to senior leaders of different political parties and MPs of both houses of Parliament.

​The Action Committee include the Confederation of All India Traders, All India Motor Transport Congress, All India Confederation of Goods Vehicles Owners Association, All India Transport Welfare Association, Federation of Indian Small & Micro Enterprises, National Hawkers Federation, Bhartiya Kisan Morcha, Laghu Udhyog Bharti, Institute for Enterprise Research & Development, Fruits & Vegetables Commission Agents Wholesale Traders Association and many other leading national and state level organizations of different sectors of non corporate sector.

Vice President Meets Differently Abled Children from UMEED

 01/09/2014 … The Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari and Smt. Salma Ansari today met the differently abled children from ‘UMEED’, a Vocational Training Centre run under the aegis of Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFWWA) here today. The Vice President and Smt. Ansari interacted with the children and wished them good success in their future. 

The Centre was established on 1st September, 2005 by AFWWA to empower the differently abled children with vocational training so as to make them contributing citizens of the society rather than being looked upon as a burden.

PERNEM PS:

Shri Deelip s/o Narayan Mahale, age 61 yrs., r/o Ganeshpuri, Mapusa complained that on 30.08.14 at 20.45 hrs. at  Casulem, Pernem  unknown accused fired  with  air gun which hit  on neck of complainant  when  he was  driving  his Maruti 800 car  No.GA-01-R-1140 while proceeding from Ugvem to Mapusa side causing him grievous injuries endangering to his life. Shirodkar r/o Tonca, Miramar complained that on 31.08.14 from 00.15 hrs. to 02.50 hrs.  at Real  Home  distillery Pvt.  Ltd., factory  at  Old Goa,  three unknown accused  person with their common intention  entered through  rear side  of compound  wall of  factory  and  break open ladies staff  and rest room  and committed theft of  cash of Rs.1000/- from complainant rest room. SMT. SINHA SWORN IN AS GOVERNOR OF GOA

August 31, 2014Smt. Mridula Sinha was sworn in as the Governor of Goa at a simple ceremony held at Durbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan, Donapaula, today Morning.

 Chief Justice of Bombay High Court  Justice Mohit Shantilal Shah administered the oath of office to her. Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar was present on the dais.

 Chief Secretary Shri B. Vijayan  read out the warrant of appointment issued by the President of India, Shri Pranab Mukerjee.

Besides Chief Minister, the swearing in ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge) Shri Shripad Naik, Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Shri Rajendra Arlekar, Deputy Chief Minister Shri Francis D’ Souza, Cabinet Ministers Shri Laximikant Parsekar, Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavlikar, Shri Mahadeo Naik, Shri Dilip Parulekar Shri Pandurang alias Deepak Dhavlikar Smt. Born on 27 November 1942, Smt. Sinha  is a famous writer of Hindi Literature and former Chairperson of Central Social Welfare Board (CSWB), Ministry of Human Resource Development. She is also the former President of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha. Member National Executive, BJP, Co-Convenor Women cell, AIBJP. She has actively participated in Samagra Kranti led by Jay Prakash Narayan.

Smt. Sinha is daughter of Late Chhabile Singh and was born in the village Chhapra of Muzaffarpur District, now in Bihar. After taking post graduation degree in Psychology, she completed her B.Ed. degree. She started her life as a college lecturer at Dr. S. K. Sinha Women’s College, Motihari, Bihar and later as Principal of Bharatiya Shishu mandir, Muzzaffarpur, Bihar. After marriage with Dr Ram Kripal Sinha, who was earlier a college lecturer and later became a Cabinet Minister in Bihar State Government. 

She has written more than 46 books in various disciplines. Her Literary contribution include Jyon Mehandi ko Rang (Novel) a short film on Doordarshan was made based on the same, Nayi Devyani (Novel), Gharwaas (Novel), Sita Puni boli (Novel), Savitri, Atishya and many more. She has written a Biography titled Rajpath se Lokpath on Smt. Rajmata Scindhiya. Her story collections include Sakshatkar, Ek Diye Ki Diwali, Sparsh kit Taseer, Apna Jeevan etc. He essay collection include Aine ke saamne, Maanvi ke Naate, Purana Ke Bacce, Bihar Ki Lok Kathaye for children. She contributes regular columns in various national and regional Hindi newspapers, magazines and periodicals. Short films and features based on her authored  work are Dattak (NFDC), Udhar ka Sooraj(Doordarshan), Jyo Mejhindi Ko Rang (Doordarshan serial), Khel Khel Main(Doordarshan telefilm).

 She is recipient of  several Awards and accolades  at the National and Internatinal Literary Conferences such as Sahitya Bhushan Samman, Uttar Pradesh  Hindi Sansthan,Rashtriya , Rashtriya Shikhar Samman, Pt. Deen dayal Upadhyaya samman, Utta Pradesh Hindi Sansthan(2001),Kalpatru Samman, Delhi (1989), Ojaswini Shikar Samman, Sahitya Shri Samman. Shei was also Honoured by Vishwantantra Hindi Sammiti, New York (1999). 21 scholars have been awarded PhD degrees for their thesis based on her literary works.

Smt. Sinha has been founder and editor of magazines, “Panchva Stamba” (The fifth pillar). She has been President of Raj Mata Vijaya Raje Scindia Smriti Nyas, Delhi, Vice President, Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad. She has participated in more than 500 programmes of All India Radio and Doordarshan on Literary, Political and social issues.

 Smt. Sinha is the President of Surya Sansthan NOIDA.

 Smt. Sinha was member on Rajbhasha Samiti, Ministryof Home Affairs, Member, hindi Salahakar Samiti, Ministry of Steel, Member, Delhi Women Commission, Delhi Government, Member, Railway Hindi Salahakar Samiti, Ministry of Railways.

 Smt. Sinha has widely travelled to attend Foreign Seminars, paper presentations and Conferences (International). She has undertaken tours of Germany, Manila, New York for various conferences and paper presentations. She has also participate in Vishwa Hindi Sammelan in England, Surinam, South Africa, Mauritius over a period of many years. 

Salgaocar Football Club’s adopted schools, conducts 3rd edition of the Late Sir Pais and Sir Redkar Memorial All Goa U-17 inter-school tie-breaker

31/08/2014 ….. Marina English High School, Verna, one of Salgaocar Football Club’s two adopted schools, conducted the 3rd edition of the Late Sir Pais and Sir Redkar Memorial All Goa U-17 inter-school tie-breaker at the Verna Church Ground on 27th August.

The event was backed and supported by Salgaocar FC.

In all, 22 teams participated in the tournament and there plenty of individual and team prizes up for grabs. On an extremely wet and rainy day, proceedings got underway with a colourful and exciting opening ceremony put together by the students of the school.

Present to inaugurate the tournament were Peter Vales, Technical Director – Youth Development, Salgaocar FC, Adlear D’Cruz, Addl. Secretary – Youth Development at Salgaocar FC, Rev. Fr. Romano Rodrigues and Mrs. Vanda D’Souza, Headmistress of the school. Students were out in large numbers through the course of the morning to support the various participating teams.

 In an exciting final that went down to sudden death, the top honours on the day were bagged by Infant Jesus School, Colva whilst Our Lady of Health High School, Cuncolim had to be content with the Runners Up spot. Holy Spirit School, Margao won the third-fourth place play-off. The winners were awarded trophies, cash prizes and certificates. In addition, Infant Jesus School, took home a glittering rolling trophy. There were individual prizes for the Best Goal Keeper and the best shooter as well.

 Fr. Benjamin D’Silva was the Chief Guest at the finals and Rahul Rodrigues, Manager, Media and Marketing, Salgaocar FC, the Guest of honour. The dignitaries along with family members of the late Mr. Valerian Pais and Mr. Suresh Redkar gave away the prizes.

 Salgaocar’s senior team stars, Karanjit Singh, Rocus Lamare, Augustin Fernandes and Gilbert Oliveira were also in attendance to encourage the talented youngsters.

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT REALIZES TOURISM POTENTIAL IN GOA- UNION MINISTER SHRI SHRIPAD NAIK

Aug: 30, 2014 … The Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent charge ) Shri Shripad Naik has said that the Central Government gives more thrust on strengthening infrastructure for tourism to make India as tourism hub in the world and therefore has decided to develop various ports  through which cruise tourism can be enhanced.

Shri Naik stated this at a function of laying of foundation stone for New Passenger Terminal Building at Mormugao Port Trust Vasco yesterday.

Shri Naik further speaking said that  the Central Government realizing the touristic potential of state and has agreed and Sanctioned developmental projects like Hotel Management Institute at Farmagudi, Water sport project at Miramar and IIT center, AIMS center, convention center etc. He assured his full cooperation for the development of tourism in Goa.

Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Shri Krishanpall Gurjar while addressing said that Goa being tourist destination known to the world and has great potential of cruise tourism. The plan for developing various ports across the coastline in the country will help the tourists drown from all over the world and within to learn and understand our culture and heritage. The cruise tourism project in Goa has importance as it will open the avenues of employment and it is an important achievement of Government. He congratulated MPT staff and other stakeholders for their efforts for the said project,

The Chief Minister of Goa Shri Manohar Parrikar who was the Chief Guest for the function, while speaking said the new passenger terminal building will help increase flow of tourists in the state and expected to open era of improved relation between Goa Government and MPT. MPT is a important port in the state which will change the  structure from Cargo vessals to Cruise vessels.

Shri Cyril Georgr Chairman  MPT   also spoke on the project,         

The proposed New Passenger Terminal Building would be constructed at a cost of Rs.8.79 crores and will be completed by December 2015. The facilities provided are custom and immigration clearance, baggage check, CCTV surveillance system, Security check, duty free shop and shopping arcade, recreational facilities, Lounge and cafeteria, electrical cars etc.

CM GREETS PEOPLE ON THE OCCASION OF GANESH CHATURTHI

August 29, 2014 …. Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar has greeted the people of the state for the Ganeshotsav festival beginning tomorrow.

In his message, Shri Parrikar said, “Goa’s most-awaited festival of Ganeshotsav has arrived. Lord Ganesha is worshiped at the beginning of all important events. He is hailed as the remover of all obstacles. This is a special time when family and friends get together to celebrate this auspicious occasion.

Ganeshotsav reminds us of the life and work of the great freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak, who turned Ganesh Chaturthi into a public festival to generate public opinion for securing complete Swaraj.

The Chief Minister wished that Chovoth will not only reunite families but also strengthen the social fabric of Goa. May this Chaturthi remove all hurdles and may Lord Ganesha bless us all with wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.

 

Robotic Workshop by Amardeep Natt, India’s Robot Dancing Superstar

29/08/2014 ….. Goa is all set to experience dance in its purest forms. Cecille’s Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) is organising a Robotic Workshop by India’s Dancing Superstar, Amardeep Natt, on 2nd, 3rd and 4th September 2014. The ‘Robotic Workshop’ will be held at the Don Bosco Oratory Hall, Panaji.

The Workshop will focus on ‘Robotic, Kill beat and freestyle dancing’. Participants will be fusing different styles of dance to the tunes of Bollywood and international music. There will be special session by Cecille Rodrigues, Dance India Dance Supermom and Amardeep Natt who would speak about Reality Shows ‘Tough Life to gain Fame’.

 ‘Zinda Robot’ aka Amardeep Singh Natt, made his fame through a unique style of dancing on one of the most popular Dance Reality show ‘India’s Dancing Superstar, where he featured in the Top Five. He is preparing to perform on the international stage and represent India.

To help cultivate the dance community in Goa, CAPA exclusively focuses on providing students and dance enthusiasts more than just dance classes and rehearsal space, by giving them new opportunities to get involved with dancing and contributing towards a healthy and fit community. CAPA has been involved in bringing to Goa various platforms to highlight new talent and dance techniques to make sure that local talent get the best training and ideas in the dance fraternity.

TILLARI REHABILITATION COLONY GETS GANESH CHATURTHI GIFT FROM POWER MINISTER

August 28, 2014 …. 11KV line of length one Kilometer has been erected to release supply to 200KVA Distribution Transformer Centre meant exclusively for releasing Power to the  Tillari Irrigation Rehabilitation Colony Sal Colony. The Power Department has built a  network of  low tension to supply power to the total 95 domestic consumers, as existing Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company’s conductors were very close to newly erected poles.

Total 142 poles of 7.5 mtr height and 38 poles of 9 mtrs are erected to complete the network of LT line. Approximately 5 Km length of LT Conductors were erected to resume the power supply to Tillari Irrigation Rehabilitation Colony. Departmental Engineers too worked very hard to complete said project in time bound manner.  

The residents has thanked the Power Minister for his efforts to provide them uninterrupted power supply.
