PANAJI PS: Father of the Victim girl complained that from11.07.14 at 08.30 hrs. to 13.07.14 at 11.00 hrs. near Panaji Church and Campal-Panaji, accused person namely Naresh r/o Nunes Lodge- Panaji- Goa was found following    his minor daughter on her way  to  church and college, thereby  outraged her modesty. OLD GOA PS:Shri Sunil Dashrath Betlikar, age 45 yrs., r/o Devagi- Chodan complained that on 12.07.14 at 22.00 hrs, at Saude- Madel near Chapel Chodan accused Mahendra Chodankar r/o Chodan assaulted him on his head and right ear, thereby causing grievous injury. Cr.No.129/14 u/s 306 IPC is registered. HC- Suraj Velip is I. O.

MAPUSA PS: Smt Shainaz Yelgar r/o Canca- Verla- Bardez complained that on 13.07.14 at 17.45 hrs.  at  Canca- Verla,  accused lady Asha Mulla  r/o  Verla  over the  issue of  disposal of garbage, entered her court yard, house premises, abused her  with filthy words and  assaulted with slaps, fist blows, took tooth bite causing bodily  injuries  to her. Accused not yet arrested. Cr.No.301/14 u/s 447, 504m, 324 IPC is registered. HC-3301 S. Shetye is I. O.

QUEPEM PS: Mother of the victim girl complained that on 13.07.14 between 06.45 hrs.  to 08.15 hrs at  Quepem, unknown accused person kidnapped her minor  daughter, age 16 yrs. from her lawful guardianship. Cr.No.48/14 u/s 363 IPC and Sec 8 of Goa Children Act 2003 is registered. PI Praveen Gawas is I. O.

MARGAO TOWN PS: Smt Succorina Constancio Costa, age 52 yrs., r/o Margao complained that on 13.07.14 at about 17.15 hrs. at  Mungul Grande- Margao, two unknown males, age around 16 yrs., with their common intention forcibly  trespassed into the her  house, criminally  restrained her by the  holding  her mouth  with  a cloth and further committed theft of cash of Rs.25,000/- form her house. Cr.No.344/14 u/s 451, 341, 394 r/w 34 IPC is registered. PSI  V.  Kauthankar is I. O.

Loyola HS win Inter-school tournament

14/07/2014 …. The 4th edition of annual Maccabeus Rodrigues inter-school tournament was organised successfully on Sunday 13th July at the Fr. Agnel school grounds.

Organised by Fr. Agnel Youth Centre and supported by Dempo Sports Club, this event saw participation from 16 schools and over 300 students from all over Goa. Mr. Alberto Colaco, General Secretary of Dempo SC inaugurated the tournament. He was accompanied by Fr. Andrew Silveira, principal of Fr. Agnel Higher secondary and Mr. Oswin Goveias.

The finals were played between Fr. Angel’s Multipurpose High School, Verna and Loyola High School, Margao.

Loyola HS defeated Fr. Agnel MHS by a solitary goal to win the coveted trophy for the first time. Both the teams displayed attacking football and came close to scoring on numerous occasions. However, Loyola HS were able to maintain their lead till the end which saw them lift the glittering trophy.

Master Nafiz Sayyed from Guardian Angel High School was adjudged the player of the tournament while Maldinho Rodrigues (Loyola H.S), Ryan Pereira (O.L Perpetual HS, Cortalim) and Shane Estibeiro (Fr. Agnel MHS, Verna) won the best Defender, Midfielder and Forward respectively.

Mrs. Juliana Gurjao e Colaco, Dy. Director DYSA gave away the prizes for the winners and Mrs. Francisca Rodrigues, wife of Late Maccabeus Rodrigues gave the runners up trophy. Also present on the occasion were, Fr. Fredrick Rodrigues-Principal of Fr. Agnel Degree College, Fr. Richard Crasto – Headmaster of Fr. Agnel School, Welvin Menezes- GFA executive committee member, Fr. Paixao Gonsalves, Fr. SUGAR TO BPL, AAY AND ANP CARDHOLDERS

Panaji, July 14, 2014  … One Kilo of Sugar per person will be distributed during the month of July 2014 to the families of Below Poverty Line (BPL), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Annapurna (ANP) at a price of Rs.13.50 per kg.

The Fair Price Shop Owners are directed to start lifting the stock of the Sugar immediately and supply the quota of July 2014 to the cardholders immediately.  They are also requested to display the sample of the quality of Commodity supplied to the cardholders.  The entire  quota to the BPL, AAY and ANP cardholders should be made immediately and the entire quota should be lifted before  July 20, 2014.

Respective cardholders are requested to draw their monthly ration quota from their respective Fair Price Shop on or before July 31, 2014 as per their entitlement and sign the register maintained at Fair Price shops in token of having lifted their quota.

Complaints, if any, in case of non supply of PDS commodities and the quantity and quality supplied by the Fair Price Shops is not found satisfactory be made to the office of the respective Joint Mamlatdars-I or Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Panaji.

POWER MINISTER FAVOURS UNDERGROUND CABLING FOR RELIABLE POWER SUPPLY

July 14, 2014 …. Power Minister Shri. Milind Naik has  favoured uninterrupted and reliable power to the State by means of underground cables which would be done in a phased wise manner. This he said would  completely eliminated by underground cable faults and  90% of interruptions.

 The Minister was speaking during his visit to  Tivim and Siolim Constituency on July 12 to attend to the grievances of the people.  The Minister said that the life style of common men has considerably changed. From the era of constant it has moved to instant. He cited examples of telephones where the STD/ISD calls had to be booked and wait for long hours to get the calls across. He said Android technologies have brought the internet at the fingertip no need to switch on Computers to access mails.

 He said all these facilities are worthless without reliable power. There are sometimes things which are beyond the control of Department staffs. However all out efforts are made to provide un- interrupted power supply to the consumers in the state even in difficult conditions.

 The Meeting held at Agarwaddo to address issues of Siolim Constiteuncy  was attended by Water Resources  Minister Shri. Dayanand Mandrekar, Sarpanchs and Panchayat Members from all the Panchayats. Siolim Constituency comprises of Five Village Panchayats Namely Marna, Oxel, Sodiem, Assagao Badem and Anjuna having total 15400 consumers. This constituency has also touristic importance.

 All these Panchayats are supplied power by 3 feeders that is to say by Siolim Feeder ( 25kms long), Assagao Feeder ( 22kms long) and Anjuna Feeder(24 kms long) aggregating to total 71 kms of 11 KV overhead feeder which support 135 Transformers of various capacities. From these 135 transformer LT line that comes to we consumer is of length 210kms overhead line.  In siolim itself Goa Electricity Department has to maintain 280 Kms of overhead line which is as old as thirty years at most places.

 Panchayat members pointed out that being thickly vegetated area lot of transient interruptions take place and therefore it was requested to take up work of underground cabling on top priority. Power Minister directed the officials to prepare on top priority. Shri. Milind Naik directed the Engineers to work on top priority to resolve the power problems in the area. Shri Milind Naik also requested Minister Shri Dayanand Mandrekar to help in locating land for setting up Sub-station in Assagao which can take care of future Growth. This is the part of  Twenty Year Perspective Plan developed by Minister for Power for Goa Electricity Department.

 Power Minister Shri Milind Naik  also visted Revora Panchayat and attended to the grievances  of Tivim Constituency. M.L.A. Shri Kiran Kandolkar was present. Shri Kandolkar  expressed said that his constituncey was neglected for years together and hoped to have initiated to improve Power Scenario in his area. Shri Milind Naik  Directed  engineers to frame estimate of underground cabling and bring for his perusal in specific time frame. Some Panchayat Members requested to address Low Voltage problem in their area. Departmental Engineer Informed that they are aware of situation and already estimates have been framed to Install New Transformer Center in that locality.

Shri. Milind Naik directed his office to ordinate with departmental and get this issue resolved within 15 Days. Shortage of Men Power and vehicle in resolving fault is faced by department was felt by Panch to which Shri Milind Naik replied that department has been given adequate power to hire vehicles and men power needs to be allocated properly by department and he personally directed department to do the needful. Shri. Milind Naik gave a patient ear to even smallest grievances and issued on the spot  directions to resolve them in time bound manner.

It may be noted that the even the concerned Minister of State for Culture and Tourism (Independent Charge), Government of India Shripad Yesso Naik had stated that the Liberalization of the visa system at Goa airport would help the state to boost tourism

Speaking to media reporter’s tourism minister dilip parulekar said that since there was no e-visa facility earlier lot of tourists from certain countries who were deciding their vacation at a last minute had changed their route from goa to other countries due to the unavailability of e-visa facility

Parulekar said that lot of tourist were attracted towards countries like srilanka, Malaysia Thailand due to e-visa facility and if the same facilities were there for goa then tourist from countries like America, Switzerland, united kingdom and germany which were a high spending tourists were sure to spend their holidays in goa

goa government ask mla’s who toured to brazil for world cup matches to pay a whopping amount of rs 15 lakhs with the end of this month

Exclusive : While it was a great ending for the 2014 football fifa world cup in brazil on last Monday night, it could not be the same happy ending for the four goan politicians which includes mla’s and a minister who had gone to the samba country to watch some of the world cup matches as the state government had put up a whooping bill of 15 lakhs each on all the four mla’s for the ten day tour…

It may be that recently the state government had decided to call off the 89 lakhs rupees controversial junket tour to brazil where in some of the minister’s and mla’s of the present bjp led government were to travel to brazil to watch some of the fifa football world cup matches after which one of the cabinet minister avertano furtado along with three of the mla’s namely Benjamin silva, carlos almeida and glen ticlo decided to travel on their own expense to brazil

Surprisingly money for the ten day tour which also included stay, travelling two matches of quarter final and semifinal round were instantly paid through the department of sports authority of goa and the state government had assured to recover the concerned amount from all the four politicians …

Though even another ruling party legislator Michael Lobo from calangute constituency was a part of the original tour later decided to go to Brazil while Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar had opted out of the junket tour facing public criticism that state funds were being blown away on a junket tour .

Speaking to goanrepeorter fisheries minister avertano furtado said that since the tour was decided one month before they had told the sag department to book their tickets and then they would repay it and that’s the reason sag had paid the tour expenses first and would be paid by the end of this month

Furtado stated that all the four mla themselves had decided to go on their expenses and has also informed chief minister of their desire to go on their own cost and the experience of world cup was a different feeling for him and his colleagues

Furtado also stated that they had seen a lot of things which could be done in the state like managing of crowds along with infrastructure such as an international stadium

SHRI MANDREKAR EXHORTS ARTISTES TO DEVELOP THEIR TALENT AND ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE

Panaji, July 13, 2014 :::: Minister for Art and Culture Shri Dayanand Mandrekar has asked the budding  artistes to strive  hard to develop their artistic talent  and achieve excellence in the field of art and culture, while protecting Indian culture and values.

 Shri Mandrekar was speaking  on the occasion  of  Birth Centenary  celebration of  Late Krishnambhatt  Bandkar, first playwright which was observed    Gomant Rangabhoomi Din at a function held at Kala Academy, Campal, Panaji, yesterday.

Shri Sanjay Mone, Renowned Actor  was the chief guest on the occasion.

Speaking further Shri Mandrekar said that  Goa has produced eminent artistes  like Sant Rohirobanath  Ambiye,  Krishnambhatt  Bandkar, Master Dinanath  Mangeshkar  particularly  from  rural areas. He complimented the Kala Academy for  its  activities. He told the artistes to avail the benefit under the schemes of art and culture.

 Shri Sanjay Mone, Shri Mohan Bugade and Shri Laximan Mhambre   also  spoke on the occasion.

 On the occasion, six Goan theatre personalities  namely  Laximan Mhambre (Khorjuvem), Damodar Kanekar (Sanguem), Mohan Bugade (Parse), Krishnanath Mahale (Karapur-Bicholim), Mahadev Shet Kesarkar (Margao) and Mahesh Tamhankar (Siolim) for their  valuable contribution  to Goan theatre stage, especially in rural areas were honoured at the hands of  Shri Mone.  They  were offered memento, certificate, shawl and purse of Rs.10,000/- each on the occasion.

 Shri  Mandrekar , Shri Mone and other dignatories gave way the prizes and  certificates  to  winners of one act play competition organized  at High School, Higher Secondary  and College level during the year 2013-14.

 Shri Sushant Khedekar, Vice-President,  Kala Academy welcomed the gathering.  Shri Prasad  Lolienkar, Director of Art and Culture  and Member Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Dr.  Ajay Vaidya compered the function.

Earlier Shri Mandrekar and other dignatories offered floral tributes to the portrait of late Bandkar.

Addressing media persons at the international centre at dona paula mr naik said that there was a need to put a control on pubs in the state as nothing was bad in the state but due to our certain mistakes the pub culture was dragged in to a wrong way

Naik said that even though nine state were taken in to first stance for giving e-visa facilities, e-visa facility would be also made available for some of the other tourism states of the country including goa in the next few months …

Naik also stated that there was a need to increase the state eco tourism sector which could help the state to be diverted in various other types of tourism sectors

President further said that it was sad on part of the govt to target these houses at this point of time during the Monsoon time without proper rehabilitation process in Place.  Congress Party has urged the Chief Minister to Intervene in this matter with utmost priority.

Rally on World Population Day held by PHC Corlim at Old Goa in collaboration with Old Goa Education Institute High School.

 

 

11/07/2014 …. A rally on World Population Day was held by PHC Corlim at Old Goa in collaboration with Old Goa Education Institute on 11th July 2014. The rally was initiated from Old Goa and proceeded to Ella – Gandhi Circle, Ella Farm and back.

The students of VIII and IX along with teachers of Old Goa Education Institute, and Staff of PHC Corlim i.e. Dr. Kedar Raikar, Medical Officer Incharge, School Health Doctor, Dr. Yogesh Dessai, LHV, Mrs. Pradnya Naik, IEC Officer, Miss Bhakti Sawant and RMNCH+A Counselor, Ms. Celina D’Souza and ANM, Ms. Akamma Avanur participated in the rally. The Headmaster of Old Goa Education Institute Shri. Sanjeev Sawant and School Health Doctor flagged the Rally.

After the rally students were addressed by Dr. Yogesh on Importance of World Population Day and the ill-effects and the urgent need to control the population. He also spoke on Adolescent Pregnancy and how such pregnancy affects our population.

A poster on the same theme was also organized wherein 30 students participated. Mast. Gautam Naik, Mast. Sanket Naik, Miss. Nikita Bomkar, received first prize (Rs. 500/-), second prize (Rs. 300/-) and third prizes (Rs. 200/-) respectively at the hands of Dr. Kedar Raikar.
