Goan Reporter:World Homoeopathy Day 2026 Observed in Goa, Reinforcing Preventive Healthcare and AYUSH Vision

World Homoeopathy Day 2026 was observed at Sai Nursing Institute, Sankhali, bringing together healthcare professionals, academicians and practitioners to highlight the role of homoeopathy in strengthening holistic and preventive healthcare. The programme, organised by the Goa Homoeopathy Council in collaboration with Shri Kamaxidevi Homoeopathic Medical College, also marked the 271st birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann.

 

The programme, held under the theme ‘Homoeopathy for Sustainable Health’, highlighted the growing importance of integrated systems of medicine and the role of homoeopathy in promoting accessible and sustainable healthcare. The event also featured the felicitation of distinguished homoeopathy doctors and practitioners for their contributions to healthcare. Goa continues to expand healthcare services across all levels, with a strong focus on preventive health check-ups, digital outreach and improving accessibility in rural and remote areas. Ongoing initiatives have witnessed significant public participation, with over 40,000 women benefiting from preventive health campaigns across the State.

 

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant said, “Prevention is always better than cure, and early diagnosis can save lives.” He further stated, “We are focusing on strengthening preventive healthcare and expanding services across all levels, ensuring accessibility and affordability for every citizen.” Highlighting the role of AYUSH, he added, “The establishment of the Ministry of AYUSH has strengthened India’s healthcare ecosystem and promoted traditional systems of medicine globally.”

 

CM Dr. Sawant emphasised that the Government is committed to strengthening medical education, research-based practices and infrastructure, while supporting institutions such as homoeopathy colleges to build skilled healthcare professionals. He also noted that dedicated efforts are being made to position wellness and AYUSH as key drivers of health tourism, aligned with the vision of a preventive, inclusive and future-ready healthcare system.

 

The event was attended by Dr. Rajendra Kanekar, Registrar, Goa Homoeopathy Council; Dr. Bipin Salkar, Chairman, Goa Homoeopathy Council; Dr. Roshani Shirvaikar, Principal, Shri Kamaxidevi Homoeopathic Medical College; Dr. Aditi Sawant Desai, Principal, Sai Nursing Institute; and Dr. Arif Raza, Resource Person, Goa Medical College, along with other dignitaries and healthcare professionals.

Panaji, 10 April 2026::        The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs will be conducting Selection Trials in Cricket U-17 Boys and Girls to participate Goa State team for the 69th National School Games Boys Championships 2025-26 to be held at Telangana from April 26 to May 01, 2026 and for the Girls Championship to be held at Rohtak, Haryana from April 29, to May 03, 2026.

Selection for Cricket U-17 Boys will be held on April 13 and 15, 2026, Reporting time is 9.30 am to 10.30 am on April 13, 2026 at Open Ground Campal, and Selection for Cricket U-17 Girls will be held on April 16 and 17, 2026, and reporting time is 9.30 am to 10.30 am on April 16, 2026 at Open Ground Campal.

Under 17 years, players should be born on or after January 01, 2009. The selected players have to submit age verification test certificate (AVT) from the doctor along with the eligibility forms. The players U-17 are students studying in std 12th or below but not below 6th std. Sports Cards, School ID Cards are mandatory at the time of Registration.

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has announced the re-opening of the online application process for the National MSME Awards 2024. These prestigious awards aim to recognize the exceptional contributions of MSME entrepreneurs across various sectors, promoting innovations, excellence and growth in the MSME sector. The awards serve to motivate and encouraged entrepreneurs by acknowledging their outstanding performance at a national level.

Applications are invited for the National MSME Award Scheme 2024 from the categories: Manufacturing Entrepreneurship (Technologically Efficient), Service Entrepreneurship (Medium Enterprises), Export-Oriented Service Enterprises, Women Entrepreneurship (Micro and Small Enterprises Services), SC/ST Entrepreneurs (Small and Micro Enterprises Manufacturing and Services), Divyang Entrepreneurs (Manufacturing and Service Enterprises) and Entrepreneurs from NER (Micro and Small Enterprises-Manufacturing and Services).

The online application portal for the National MSME Awards 2024 is accessible at the official portal Award (https://dashboard.nisme.gov.in/na/EntNA_Admin/Ent_NA_Ent.aspx). The application window National will remain open till April 20, 2026. MSMEs are encouraged to complete their applications within this period to ensure consideration for these esteemed portal-awards.

Panaji, 10 April 2026::    Department of Drinking Water has informed that there will be no water supply from 160 MLD and 100 MLD Salaulim Water Treatment Plant on April 12, 2026 and restricted water supply on April 13, 2026 due to Planned Shutdown proposed by Electricity Department on April 12, 2026 from 07.00 am to 04.00 pm.

Taluka’s affected will be Sanguem, Quepem, Salceete and Marmugao.

The consumers are requested to take note of it and bear with the inconvenience caused.

Panaji, 10 April 2026::       The Directorate of Social Welfare and Goa State SC and OBC Finance and Development Corporation Ltd. along with other collaborating Departments will celebrate 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar as a State function on April 14, 2026  at 10.30 am at Dr. Ambedkar Park near KTC Bus Stand, Panaji.

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant alongwith Speaker, Goa Legislative Assembly Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar and Minister for Social Welfare Shri. Subhash Phaldessai and other dignitaries will garland the statue of Dr. Ambedkar.

The programme will be followed by speeches of dignitaries and felicitation of students.
