CM TELLS SENIOR CITIZENS NOT LIVE UNDER STRESS

Panaji: January 23, 2020 … Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated awareness programme on Holistic Health Care, Preventive Care, Yoga and Physiotherapy for Senior Citizens organized by National Institute of Social Defence, Centre for the Study of Social Change and Regional Resource Training Centre in association with Directorate of Social Welfare at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali, yesterdayy.

Addressing the senior citizens, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant appealed to share the feeling with other inmates to reduce mental tension. He said, senior citizens should spare their time in surrounding Unmeed Centers started by the Government.

Speaking on the life style of senior citizens, Chief Minister said, lately many of us are living under pressure and stress, which is not a good sign, he appealed to enjoy the healthy life and assured all help from the Government.

Earlier Supriya Manjrekar welcomed the guests. Smt. Nirmala Samant Prabhavalkar, Advocate High Court and Ex. Mayor of Mumbai spoke on the principles of human nutrition, health and wellbeing. Shri Rohan Shroff, Centre Coordinator and YogaTeacher spoke on Yoga Technique and four pillars of Yoga, similarly sessions on Balance Diet, Safe Food Preparation and Storage, Meditation, Yoga, Breathing Exercise, Physiotherapy held during awareness programme.

GOVERNMENT SIGNS MOU WITH COLORCON ASIAN LTD

Panaji: January 22, 2020 …  The Government of Goa and M/s. Colorcon Asian pvt. Ltd. signed and exchanged Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the supply of i-STAT cartridges and machines for the use of various peripheral health centres and Goa Medical College, Bambolim today at Conference Hall, DHS Panaji.

The MoU was signed by Director-Directorate of Health Services, Dr. Jose D’Sa and Site-In- Charge, Colorcon Asian Pvt. Ltd, Shri Prakash Gadhave. It was earlier signed in 2017 and has been now renewed for a period of 3 more years ie. 2019-2020. As per the MoU M/s. Colorcon Asian Pvt. Ltd. under their CSR initiative has supplied 10 machines and cartridges to  ICU unit, ward 143, Paediatric ward, Casualty and Cardiology ward in GMC, North Goa District Hospital,  Mapusa,  Sub District Hospital, Ponda, Hospicio Hospital, Margao, CHC Canacona and GVK EMRI.

Dr. D’Sa addressing the gathering said that various tests can be conducted through this iSTAT Cartridge on i-STAT machines which will help patients to get an early diagnosis about any disease.

Shri Gadhave urged all the doctors to utilized this facility for the benefit of the society, only then the motive of this CSR activity will be achieved.

Shri. Parab briefed about the M/s. Colorcon Asian pvt. Ltd’s. contribution towards the society under  CSR.

KA INVITES ENTRIES FOR TIATR COMPETITION

Panaji: January 21, 2020 … Kala Academy, Goa has invited entries from interested Tiatr Groups for participation in the 6th Tiatr, B group competition which will be held at Ravindra Bhavan, Vasco, from first week of March 2020 onwards.

The last date for submission of entry form for the Tiatr Group competition is January 28, 2020 by 4.00 pm. The entry forms will be available in the Kala Academy during office hours on working days from January 21, 2020.

The entry form along with the cash remittance of entry fee Rs. 500/- and Security Deposit Rs. 5000/- will be accepted latest by 4.00 pm till the stipulated last date for receipt of entries. The participating institutions are also required to submit their valid registration; renewal certificate compulsorily along with the entry form falling which entries will not be accepted. The draw to decide sequence of performance by lots will be taken on January 28, 2020 at 5.00 pm at the meeting room of Kala Academy.

The rules and regulations of the competition have been revised and as per revised rules, new scripts and new and original songs (cantaram) will be accepted for the competition.

CM REVIEWS SCHEMES UNDER RDA

Panaji: January 20, 2020 … Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with Minister for Rural Development Agency  Shri. Michael Lobo held a meeting with senior officials of Rural Development Agency (RDA) and reviewed the various issues pertaining to National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) schemes and other matters.

During the meeting the Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to prepare a comprehensive proposal to strengthen the NREGA Scheme, and also NRLM. Director RDA Shri. Sanjit Rodrigues highlighted the need to engage requisite manpower on contract basis under NREGA so as to facilitate the RDA to seek funds from Central Government and take up various work related to development.

Shri. Rodrigues also stressed the need to appoint the adequate number of Junior Engineers on contractual basis to execute the work of various projects under RDA.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri. Parimal Rai IAS, Secretary RDA Shri.Sanjay Gihar IAS, Addl.Secretary Finance Shri. Sunil Masurkar, Addl.Secretary Personal Shri. CHIEF MINISTER ATTENDS 72nd ARMY DAY CELEBRATION AT CAMPAL

Panaji: January 19, 2020 …Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant in the presence of Union Minister of State for Defence, Shri Shripad Naik attended the 72nd Army Day, ‘Know Your Army Mela’ organized by 2 Signal Training Centre at Campal Ground, Panaji recently.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister thanked Military forces for their valuable contribution to liberate Goa from Portuguese regime on December 19,1961. He said, Goa got freedom after 14 years of India’s Independence and due to this people of Goa  are lacking behind in the field of Military due to lack of  adequate knowledge about the recruitment process in Military. He said, this event will enhance awareness amongst public, especially youth so that they opt for a career in Military Forces and take a sense of pride and respect about the guardians of our frontiers.

Shri Shripad Naik in his address lauded the role of Armed Forces in propagating the ideas of secularism, selfless service and imbibing patriotic fervor amongst the youth of the nation. He also appreciated the efforts of 2 signal Training Centre for conducting the event and at the same time advised youth to join armed Forces.

Events like static display of Military Equipment, Milatary Band Display, Army Dog Show were followed by various cultural programmes and performance by Army Helicopters.Traditional Lejim and Malkhamb teams from Belgaum displayed their talents. A mini obstacle course and selfie corner were also setup for school children at the venue.

Local public and School/College students were very inquisitive and fascinated by the event and equipment display and various military activities that were displayed.

Earlier on the arrival at the venue the Chief Minister and Union Minister of  State for Defence were received by Commandant 2 Signal Training Centre Brigadier, Sanjay Rawal while Major Pal Fernandes and Havaldar Pramod Compered the function  and proposed the vote of thanks.

GOVERNOR BRIEFED ABOUT TIGER DEATHS

Panaji: January 18, 2020…Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant,  Chief Secretary, Shri Parimal Rai,  Principal Chief Conservator of Forest  and Chief Wildlife Warden visited Governor Shri Satya Pal Malik, recently. They briefed him about the issue related to recent tiger deaths in the State.

Governor was informed of the decision taken to provide succor in the form of ex-gratia relief to those persons who have lost their livestock due to tiger attack. Governor was also informed that it has been decided to develop a protocol to provide instant relief to the affected persons for the damages due to wild life attack. Apart from this, tiger protection and conservation measures and various mitigation strategies for minimizing the human and wildlife conflict were deliberated during their visit.

CM LAUNCHES “TRAVEL MILES” MAGAZINE

Panaji: January 17, 2020 …Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant launched magazine “Travel Miles” India’s first in-car magazine at office of Goa Miles in the city recently. The magazine Travel Miles  branched out of Goa Miles is the only in-cab travel and tourism  magazine providing information on right places to visit Goa including Goa’s architecture, heritage sites, temples, best cuisine etc.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Shri Sunil Tondon, Ex. CEO of GMR Infrastructure limited, Shri Utkarsh Dabhade  Managing Director , Shri Parashar Pai Khot , Director of Operation from Goa Miles  including Smt. Pooja Pai Khot and Shri Sachin Kamble Editor and CEO of Travel Miles and other representatives of Goa Miles.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that Goa miles started well organized business in the State of Goa which takes care about  safety, and security concern of the tourist including rates, due to which tourism industry is growing fast in the State. At present more than 1900 people are on board and it is expected to join more people. Initially, when Goa Miles Started in the State, there was much pressure from many including some organization, association to stop the Goa Miles or convert into other app, entry restriction etc but Goa miles started with the support of many people including organizations, associatios etc.

Speaking further the Chief Minister said that Touristic new policy will be finalize soon after taking all the stake holders on board to elicit and consider their ideas and suggestions which will help to generate more income by attracting more tourist in the State from different parts of the world to explore different destination. After mining, tourism is more revenue generating industry to the State. Government will also focus to explore the cultural tourism, medical tourism etc in future. To grow tourism industry in state support from all the stake holders is necessary he added.

Earlier awards in the category of best leadership and best employees of Goa Miles were given at the hands of Chief Minister.

The South Goa Superintendent of Police, Arvind Gawas (IPS) took a stringent action by suspending two police personnel in the senior photojournalist, Soiru Komarpant manhandling case. Police driver, Ujesh U. Naik and police constable, Mahendra M. Gosavi attached to the Fatorda police station have been suspended after the Goa Union of Journalists (GUJ), South Goa Journalists Association (SGJA) and Photo Journalists Association Goa (PJAG) condemned the manhandling of the senior photojournalist demanding strict action. The Goa Union of Journalists earlier met the DIGP, Rajesh Kumar (IPS) at the Police headquarters in Panaji and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate suspension of police personnel involved. GUJ also wrote to the IGP, Jaspal Singh (IPS) and sought his intervention. The South Goa SP Arvind Gawas (IPS) had assured the apex journalists body that strong action would be taken. The Goa Union of Journalists appreciate and thank the offices of the IGP, Jaspal Singh (IPS), DIGP, Rajesh Kumar (IPS) and the South Goa Superintendent of Police for the quick and prompt action.

CM TELLS EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS TO TREAT TEACHING AS NOBLE PROFESSION

Panaji: January 15, 2020 … Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has called upon teaching community and educational institutions not to look upon education as business venture but treat it as a noble profession to create a well cultured society in all respects.

The Chief Minister was speaking as Chief Guest at the annual social gathering of Dr. K. B. Hedgewar Vidya Mandir, Karapur Tisk at Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali.

Speaking further, the Chief Minster said education is regarded as noble profession and as such with the changing times, the teachers needs to abreast themselves with the latest know how and other recent educational methods, so that, they can impart quality education to the students and prepare them to compete at the national and international level and achieve excellence in the respective fields they choose.

Present on the occasion were Shri Krishnaraj Sukerkar, Chairman of Executive Committee of Dr. K. B. JOB FAIR HELD AT QUEPEM

Panaji: January 14, 2020 … Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar inaugurated Quepem Job Fair organised by Department of Factories and Boilers under the agies of Deputy CM, Shri Kavlekar at Borimol, Quepem recently.
Chairperson, Quepem Municipal Council, Shri Dayesh Naik; Deputy Chair Person, Shri Chetan Haldankar; Zilla Panchayat Members, Shri Kushali Velip and Shri Shanu Velip; Chief Inspector, Department of Factories and Boilers, Shri Vivek Marathe; Councillors, Sarpanchas and Panchas of various Panchayats of Quepem Constituency were present on the occasion.

Speaking of the occasion Shri Kavlekar said    Government is providing this opportunity for unemployed youth to get employment through job fair as it cannot provide employment to everyone.  Private sector also provides good jobs to make good career for youths. It gives satisfaction looking at the spontaneous response received for the first of its kind job fair in Quepem.  There are many practical issues due to which private companies cannot employ locals Kavlekar added.
In all 25 companies participated in this job fair who made 432 vacancies available he said.
 Reiterating governments committment for over all development of the state, he said Governments is putting all its efforts to take state to the next level with the cooperation of every citizen.
Speaking about the ministries he is handling Shri Kavlekar said Agriculture Department is making all out efforts o make organic hub and organic university in the State. Organic tourism will be given more scope with due cooperation from Tourism Department. Town and Country Planning Department is working for the betterment of general public he said.
The Department of Archives and Archeology is working to make all the documents with the department from 1418 onwards digitalized. For the benefit of people of Sanguem, Quepem, Cancona and Dharbandora talukas this documents will be made available at the centralized place Quepem.

Welcoming the gathering Shri Vivek Marathe requested companies to consider the job seekers to become their employees by relaxing the rules.  Companies should employ the rural youths by imparting the requisite training and the skill.
