28/06/2014 ….In order to create awareness among goans about the price hike on railway fares in the country the state congress party had decided to lead an agitation of its party workers towards all the six railways stations in the state of goa on 7th July which is the opening day of the budget session in the parliament

Addressing media person’s gpcc president john Fernandes said that during the peaceful agitation taken out near the state railways stations his party members would demand for a roll back on railway fare to the prime minister of india shri narendra modi …

Fernandes said that his party would give a one week time for the bjp led government to solve the water and power problems of the state or else would lead an agitation in and around the city over the frequent power failures as well as water scarcity problems of the state

Fernandes also stated that a mass agitation would be lead to the state assembly complex led by goa desk incharge digvijay singh on the opening day of the state assembly session in the state

Defence Minister Shri Jaitley Lays Foundation Stone for HQ IDS Building

27/06/2014 …. The Defence Minister Shri Arun Jaitley today unveiled the foundation stone for HQ Integrated Defence Staff (IDS) Building Complex at Mehramnagar, Delhi Cantt. Speaking on this occasion, Shri Jaitley said, since its inception, Headquarter Integrated Defence Staff has played a pivotal role in building synergy and consensus through intra-service deliberations and ensuring optimisation of resources through rightful prioritisation for procurements, joint doctrines, joint training and common procedures. He commended the Armed Forces for their devotion to duty and stellar role played by them in safeguarding our country’s unity and diversity. He further said that in future almost all operations, be they inland or overseas, invariably going to be Tri-Service operations. Developing synergy between the services to achieve optimum force application therefore attains utmost importance, he remarked.

Chief of Army Staff General Bikram Singh, in his welcome address briefly dwelt upon the history and origin of the IDS set up. He said, based on the Kargil Review Committee Report and subsequent recommendation of the Group of Ministers, the Integrated Defence Staff was set up by the Government of India in October 2001. He said that the aim of forming Integrated Defence Staff was to provide a secretariat to the Chairman COSC (Chief of Defence Staff / Permanent Chairman Chief of Staff when appointed), facilitate constitution of Defence Crisis Management Group (DCMG), coordination of financial and budgetary proposals for the three services and presenting coordinated set of proposals to the Defence Minister. It is also chartered to coordinate and analyse critical deficiencies in force capabilities and render periodic reports to Defence Minister on the need for structural and organizational changes taking note of alterations in the nature of threats, he added.

The proposed multi-storied IDS building complex situated near NSG HQ in Mehramnagar, Delhi Cantt. will come up over an area of 10.57 acres of land. The complex will consist of Office Building, Officers Mess Complex, Signal Intelligence (SI) Directorate, Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS), HQ IDS Camp and Sports Complex. The ultra-modern green complex will have many novel features, which include Library cum reading room, Information Technology and communication rooms, Special Section on International Defence Cooperation/Dte of Net Assessment, Meditation room/training cum motivation hall and Security posts with all latest equipment including vehicle scanners and IRIS scan etc.

Among others the function was attended by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R K Dhowan, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Defence Secretary Shri RK Mathur and CISC Lt Gen Anil Chait.

Though the elections were schedule to take place on 13th July,  Siddesh was elected unopposed after his rival candidate mahesh chandrakhant naik withdrew his name from the elections list …

Addressing media persons at the assembly complex st andre mla Vishnu surya wagh said that he had taken adequate initiatives to solve the water problems of his constituency even though the recent water issue was due to the damage created by a barge to the underwater pipeline which would be solved immediately as soon as possible

Wagh also stated that he had asked the pwd department officials to identify certain wells in his constituency which could be used for drinking source and also to identify sites where pumping of ground water could be done through bore well for his constituency people

Addressing media persons at the altinho residence on Wednesday chief minister Manohar parrikar said that due to the present rainy season there was an increase of the ecoliform substance in some of the rivulets in the state while the substance of ecoliform was at its lowest in river mandovi

Parrikar said that the state government would soon start 600-700 worth crores of ruppes sewerage treatment facilities in various parts of the state which would help in bringing down high coliform from the state rivers

Meanwhile parrikar also stated that the water scarcity issue which had arise in the st andre constituency was due to a barge which had ruptured the underwater pipeline and the same issue would be resolved in another few days time

It may be noted that the National Institute of Oceanography in its recent report had stated that waters of River Mandovi were unsafe for recreational bathing, water sports and fishing due to the waters of River Mandovi that houses five off-shore casinos were containing alarmingly high levels of coliform bacteria caused by the release of untreated sewage.

The report stated that the parameters that were monitored were colour or odour, floating matters, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, faecal coliform and biological oxygen demand and the water was full of bacteriological contamination and stated adding there was a need to monitor and identify the source of pollution.

Interestingly, coliform content in the water sample collected opposite Panjim jetty, where almost all the casinos are presently anchored, was as high as 330/ml and the coliform content ranged between 78/ml to 330/ml.

As per GSPCB norms, coliform counts in excess of 5 CFU/ml in natural water is unsafe for bathing. CFU/ml is a unit used to measure the bacteria present in water which indicates the total Colony Forming Units of bacteria present per ml of water.

In essence, total coliform counts exceeding 5 per ml have serious implications for bathers and fishermen in the area.

Addressing media person’s spokesperson of the state congress party ulhas parab said that the casinos operating in river mandovi should be banned immediately and should not be allowed to function till proper procedures are put ill place thus not polluting the river

Mr parab urged the state government to take strict action on those who were found guilty in polluting the river and to be booked under the environment protection

Meanwhile advocate pratima coutinho also criticized the state bjp led government and its cabinet minister for not taking the issue of water scarcity seriously …

While the state government has state run mobile vans for first aid to its patients or mobile courts for speedy cases now for the first time in to the state of goa and goan politics a member of the legislative assembly and st andre mla visnhu surya wagh has taught of starting a mobile van services for its constituency voters which would adhere to its voters problems on day to day basis calling it as office on wheels …

This mobile service system which would be started within the next fifteen days time would the first type of an initiative that would be started by a goan mla for its voters in the last so many years …

The mobile van services consists of seating arrangement for the mla along with two to three voters at one time inside the bus service which has been re-modified in to a seating arrangement along with a table and toilet facilities and go to village to village of the constituency and halt for a day in each village

Speaking to goanreporter st andre mla Vishnu surya wagh said though even he had an office for his voters at Bambolim he felt that there was a need for him to meet his voters at their door step and starting a mobile office was the right way to do so …

Wagh also stated that for the last three months he was not able to meet his voters due to some health problems during when it came to his mind to start up this unique concept of mobile office
