DO NOT CAPTURE IMAGES OF RESTRICTED AIRBASE AREAS : DISTRICT MAGISTRATE

Panaji, August  16, 2018 … South Goa, District Magistrate has directed to refrain to capture images of the restricted airbase area to avoid any untoward incident leading to the overall security of the airbase.

Aerodrome Committee had informed to the District Magistrate that videography  and photography is carried out by the general public by climbing on the water pipeline running adjacent to the boundary wall of the airfield area and further uploading the same on the social media which is a serious concern as it is detrimental to the overall safety and security of the airbase.

Bahrain Young Goans Club , Ladies Wing organises Summer Camp activities for kids in Manama, Bahrain .

Bahrain:16th August 2018 ::: The Young Goans Club , Ladies Wing organised the Summer Camp from 15th July to 1st August at the YGC premises in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain .

‘’It was a great pleasure to hold YGC Ladies Wing Summer Camp activities for our kids. The kids learnt our Goan tradition by basic konkani language speaking and traditional cooking classes. We wish them all happy holidays and a successful academic year ahead said Maria Pereira, Ladies Wing Co-ordinator , Young Goans Club.’’

‘Milushka Faria, Ladies Wing  Member, Young Goans Club ’stated ”’ I am extremely proud to be a part of Summer Camp Children participated and explored their creativity and Learnt Basic Music, Dance, Art, Paper Quilling, Craft, Stitching, Konkani speaking,  Goan traditional cooking and  Etiquette/social behaviour.

Besides games ,sports and a fun day outing. The children had a unique opportunity to spend their vacation in a relaxed and enriching manner.’

Maverly D’Costa, one of the participant at the Summer Camp shared her experience‘’ I did enjoy all the classes The best class was paper quilling and stitching. It was a good time with my friends and volunteers. Father Darel speech was very nice .I even liked playing and enjoyed my last day outdoor and made new friends in the Summer Camp. ‘’

Gwen Fernandes, another summer camp Participant expressed  her gratitude ” It was really fantastic and beautiful memories of the Young Goans Summer Camp, My favorite activities were  painting craft and cooking. I also learnt craft, cooking and more activities. The last day was my best day I enjoyed in Marina Mall Children Games section. I give thanks to our Volunteers Lina, Sofia, Lita, Hazina and a special thanks for Maria and Milushka for organizing the summer camp’’ 

Fr. Darel Fernandes, assistant parish priest of Sacred Heart Church, was present for the concluding ceremony and presented certificates to participants and volunteers. 

             

GOVERNOR EXTENDS GREETINGS ON THE OCCASION OF PARSI NEW YEAR

Panaji, August 16, 2018 … Governor, Dr (Smt) Mridula Sinha has extended her greetings and best wishes to the Parsi community in Goa on the auspicious occasion of the Parsi New Year, August 17, 2018.

 In her message the Governor said, Navroz or the Parsi New Year of the Parsi community in India is one of the prominent festivals for the folks following Zoroastrian faith and is celebrated with much fanfare. The day is also believed to be one of remittance for the community from evil deeds and thoughts and of atonement for the sins of the past year.

The Parsi community in India has contributed significantly to India’s social, economic, cultural and intellectual fields. By their disciplined, peace-loving and enterprising nature, they have earned a pride place in the national mainstream. I am sure that my Parsi brothers and sisters will continue to contribute a major share in taking the nation to greater peace prosperity and glory, she added.

REVISED DEENDAYAL DISABLED REHABILITATION SCHEME

Panaji, August  16, 2018 …. The Directorate of Social Welfare has brought out the highlights of revised Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme for the benefits of public.

The list of model projects under revised Deendayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme implemented w.e.f. April 1, 2018 has  been reduced as pre – schools and early intervention and training and special schools for persons with disabilities for mental retardation, hearing and speech impaired and visual challenged. Cerebral Palsied Children, Rehabilitation of Leprosy Cured Person, Half way Home for Psycho-Social Rehabilitation of Treated and Controlled Mentally ill persons, Home-Based Rehabilitation and Home Management, Community Based Rehabilitation Programme, Low Vision Centres and Human Resource Development.

 The eligible Project Implementing Agencies (NGOs), after their project is approved by the competent authority will be entitled for 90% of amount calculated based on the cost norms as prescribed under this revised scheme.

The organization has to apply for Grant – in – aid on the online portal of the Ministry (e-Anudaan) and forward the complete proposal to District Social Welfare Officer. Upon inspection and submission of online inspection report, the District Social Welfare Officer would forward the proposal to respective State Government / UT administration and to Government of India. If the State Government / UT administration does not decide on the proposal within 60 days, Government of India can decide on the proposal on the basis of inspection report submitted by the inspecting officer for NGOs receiving Grant – in – Aid under the Schemes.

TOURISM MINISTER INAUGURATES PERNEM BUS STAND AND MARKET COMPLEX

Panaji August 16, 2018 …… Minister for Tourism and Sports Shri Manohar Azgaonkar inaugurated the Pernem Bus stand and Market Complex in the distinguished presence of GSIDC Chairman Shri Deepak Pauskar and Shri Dayanad Sopte ,MLA on the occasion of Independence Day  celebration at a function held at Pernem yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion ,Shri Azgaonkar said that people of  Pernem was  in need of a bus stand as all the buses used to halt along the roadside, which resulted in traffic congestion .Now a full fledge bus stand is finally opened for public. Azgaonkar appealed to the people to maintain cleanliness at the bus stand. He also requested the Directorate of transport to make compulsory to all the buses including private and KTC to ply from the new bus stand.

Shri Deepak Pauskar, MLA in his address  informed that the new bus stand have 10 alighting and departing bays, six waiting bays and two bays for repairing. The bus stand is designed with a single entry point and single exit point for buses. It has a provision for shops, cafeteria and office of assistant director of transport, Settlements and Land Records department and Town and Country Planning Department .It also includes shops and basement for parking for four wheelers and taxis. Also taxi stand has been provided separately for pilots, rickshaw and four wheelers.

Shri Dayanad Sopte, MLA, Mandrem and Shri Nikhil Desai, Director, Directorate of transport also spoke on the occasion.

COMMUTERS REQUESTED TO CO-OPERATE WITH TRAFFIC POLICE

Panaji, August  15, 2018 … Surface of the road has developed cracks due to rainy season resulting in potholes leading to accumulation of rain water. This has slowed down the pace of movement of vehicles. Consequently the normal flow of traffic is hampered. This is resulting in piling up of traffic especially during peak hours from Agacaim side to Cortalim.

 Superintendent of Police, Traffic has informed that the ongoing construction work of new Zuari Bridge and Fly-Over from Agacaim side to Cortalim the vehicular traffic on the said stretch is being regulated by Goa Police with extra deployment of manpower.

The Traffic Police and PWD officials have conducted joint site inspection of the affected stretch and necessary repairs are being undertaken shortly. Due to continuous rain and flow of  traffic a lot of difficulty is being faced by PWD in carrying out the necessary repairs.

The commuters are requested to co-operate with Traffic Police personnel on duty engaged in regulating the traffic. They are also requested to follow lane system to avoid being the cause of traffic jam.  

CEO DISCUSS PREPARATION FOR 2019 LOK SABHA ELECTION WITH ELECTION ICONS

Panaji ::: August 15, 2018 … Goa Election Commission has kick-started its  preparation for  2019 Lok Sabha election with election icons .The meeting was recently Chaired By Chief Electoral Officer ,Shri Kunal, IAS at the office of Chief Electoral  on August 9 at Altinho Panaji.

The meeting was held to create awareness among the voters, to educate importance of elections, participation in voting and to increase voters’ turnout for the coming election .Also for this year, campaign will stressed on to delete names of duplicate electors from the voters list. Various contests, street plays for spreading awareness among the public will be conducted in both the districts.

   A Special Summary Revision of photo electoral rolls for all the 40 Assembly Constituencies in Goa is being carried out as per the directions of Election Commission of India.

Panaji, August  15, 2018 … Let each one of us be the catalyst of growth in order to propel the nation to great heights said Minister for Panchayat, Shri Mauvin Godinho. He was speaking after unfurling the tricolour on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day  which was celebrated at Tilak Maidan, Vasco, today.

On the occasion, Shri Godinho paid homage to the freedom fighters and said that we are free and secure because of the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and the soldiers who defend us at the border. Shri Godinho further said that it is not only the government’s responsibility but it is also the duty of each one of us to contribute to building the nation.

Looking at the developmental work carried in every nook and corner of Goa, Shri Godinho stated that before 2022, Goa will emerge as the most progressive state, he added.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT PONDA

Panaji, August  15, 2018 … Minister for PWD, Shri Ramkrishna Dhavalikar hoisted the National tricolour at the 72nd Independence Day celebrations at Kranti Maidan, Ponda today. The Minister alongwith other dignitaries laid wreath at the Hutatma Smarak and paid homage to the martyrs and later inspected the Guard of Honour from Police contingents  led by PSI Paresh Sinari. 

South Goa Member of Parliament Shri. Narendra Sawaiker, Shri. Ravi Naik, MLA, Col. Satnam Singh of 6TTR, Freedom fighters, Govt officials, teachers and students of various schools attended the function. 

While speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized on the efforts taken by our national leaders and their contribution towards pre and post independence era.

Remembering the immense contribution of our national leaders for the development of the country, Shri Dhavalikar said “Our leaders such as Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, Smt. Indira Gandhi, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpai have played a pivotal role in improving our country’s infrastructure, economy and social strata. They were visionaries and hence put in great ideas which are benefitting us till today. Our present Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi is following the footsteps of our great leaders. It is our duty to be united for a bright India,” the Minister said. 

Shri. Girish Velguenkar compered the function and also proposed the vote of thanks. Students of various schools in the city performed cultural programs. 

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATED AT MAPUSA

Panaji, August 15, 2018 …. “We celebrate Independence Day to remember those who gave their life for our freedom,” said Minister for Revenue, Information Technology and Labour and Employment, Shri Rohan Khaunte after unfurling the National Flag on the occasion of Independence Day which was celebrated at Mapusa, today.

Shri Khanute said, “Every State has to build on its plus points to contribute to building the nation. Under the leadership of our Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar, we have done a lot of things for the people,” informing that the government’s Industrial policy, Start-Up policy and IT policy has been done for the youth of Goa. “We want Goa to become a knowledge hub,” he said adding, “We have been getting a good response to these policies. These policies have led to skill development, encouraging innovation etc.”

Shri Khaunte said that there will soon be Revenue Bhavans in Porvorim and Mapusa which will help the people of Goa. The Minister also spoke of how the Government had made it easier for people to obtain important documents from the Government Departments online and free of cost.

Shri Khaunte said that today we are faced with different challenges like terrorism, assault on women, etc and we all have to work together to solve these challenges.

Present on the occasion were the Deputy Collector and SDO of Bardez, Shri Gaurish Shankwalkar, Deputy Collector II, Shri Clen Madeira, senior Government officials, students from various schools and others.
