In a thrilling semifinal clash at the Benaulim Panchayat Cup held at St. John the Baptist ground on Thursday, Sporting Club of Davorlim edged out tournament favorites Navelim Villagers Union 1-0 to book their spot in the final.

Alent Colaco’s clinical first-half finish proved decisive in a high-intensity match filled with chances. Navelim dominated the second half, with Ronaldo Pereira and Clinton Niasso nearly scoring, but Davorlim’s goalkeeper Francisco Colaco delivered a stellar performance with multiple crucial saves.

Despite relentless pressure from Navelim, Davorlim’s defense stood strong, securing their place in the final scheduled for Sunday.

Goan Reporter: Bhatti SC Enter Semifinals with 5–1 Win Over Cumborda in Silver Jubilee Cup 2025

Host team Bhatti SC advanced to the semifinals of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025 9-a-side Interward Football Tournament after defeating Cumborda SC 5–1. The tournament is organized by the Sporting Club of Virabhat and is being held at the St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. Cumborda missed an early opportunity when Valzino Fernandes’ shot hit the post and went out of play. Bhatti SC capitalized soon after, with Tony Dias scoring in the 10th minute and doubling the lead in the 20th minute to end the first half 2–0 in their favour. In the second half, Bhatti extended their lead through Ralf Dias in the 35th minute, followed by a hat-trick goal from Tony Dias in the 40th minute to make it 4–0. Cumborda pulled one back through Roy Fernandes in the 45th minute, but Bhatti sealed the game with another goal from Ralf Dias in the 50th minute, ending the match 5–1. Tony Dias was awarded Man of the Match, presented by Baptisto Fernandes, a member of Sporting Club Virabhat.

Goan Reporter: Agxem SC Defeats Piedadigal FC 5-2 (Tie-breaker) in Silver Jubilee Cup

Sporting Club of Virabhat’s 9-a-side Interward Football Tournament, the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025, saw Agxem SC triumph over Piedadigal FC with a 5-2 tie-breaker victory after a 1-1 full-time draw. The match took place at the St. Alex Church Ground.

Both teams showcased attacking football, with the first half ending goalless. Agxem’s Alroy Gomes scored in the 40th minute, assisted by Joel, but Anthony Fernandes of Piedadigal equalized five minutes later.

In the tie-breaker, Agxem’s Joel, Nickson, Agnelo, and Savio scored, while Prakash converted for Piedadigal, leading to Agxem’s 4-1 win. Anthony Fernandes was named Man of the Match, presented by Crisco Castanha of SC Virabhat.

Goan Reporter: Tyson Brothers Cuncolim Lift Late Joaquina Palmiera Memorial Cup After 2-1 Win Over Chota Nagpur Youth Club

Tyson Brothers Cuncolim emerged victorious in the final of the Late Joaquina Palmiera Memorial Cup, defeating Chota Nagpur Youth Club (SVD Raia) 2–1 in a 2-a-side tiebreaker match organized by Double 11 Raia at the SVD Ground in Dando Raia on Sunday. Mr. Wilson and Mr. Praveen scored for Tyson Brothers, while Mr. Prakash Gop netted the lone goal for Chota Nagpur. A total of 88 teams participated in the tournament, with the semi-finalists receiving ₹2,000 each. Mr. Wilson of Tyson Brothers was awarded Best Goalkeeper, and Mr. Prakash Gop of Chota Nagpur received the Best Shooter award. The Chota Nagpur team comprised Prakash Gop and Patras Kandola. The chief guest for the event was Mr. Peter Quadros (Ex-Sarpanch and current Panch member of VP Raia), who gave away the prizes alongside guests of honour Mr. Nicky Cardozo (tiatr director and ex-footballer) and Mr. Francisco Karachol Cardozo (former best midfielder of Raia Sporting). Special felicitations were given to Nicky Cardozo, Francisco Karachol Cardozo, and Leroy Cardozo (Raia’s Strongest Man 2020 and National Silver Medalist in Powerlifting). The winners’ trophy was presented to Tyson Brothers by Mr. Nicky Cardozo and the organizing committee, with a vote of thanks delivered by the organiser and sponsor, Mr. John (Joao) Cardoso.

United Club of Verna advanced to the quarterfinals of the Benaulim Panchayat Football Tournament with a solid 2-0 win over Carmona Sports Club at the St John the Baptist Panchayat Ground, Benaulim. The first half saw an even contest with both teams sharing possession but failing to score. However, Verna came out stronger in the second half and increased the pressure. Their efforts paid off in the 56th minute when Sheldon Pereira scored off a loose ball, and just four minutes later, he struck again with a composed finish to seal the win. Despite a strong defensive effort from Carmona, Verna’s attacking push and Sheldon’s brilliant brace proved decisive in securing their spot in the next round.

Goan Reporter: Curtorim Gymkhana, Reginald Trust Host Summer Camp for Kids; Armando Colaco Felicitated

Curtorim Gymkhana, in association with the Reginald Trust, organised a summer camp for boys and girls aged 5 to 14 years from 16th to 31st May 2025 at the DSYA Ground, Curtorim.

The camp witnessed participation from 120 children in football training, coached by Maria Rebello and Aliston Fernandes.

The event was graced by Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lourenco, Dronacharya Awardee Armando Colaco, Arjuna Awardee Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, Curtorim Gymkhana President Arnald Costa, and other dignitaries and club officials.

On the occasion, Armando Colaco was felicitated by the organisers for his contribution to Indian football.

Goan Reporter: Betalbatim Storm Past Hosts St Sebastian Union Club 3–0 in Benaulim Panchayat Cup

In an exciting clash at Dando Ground, Betalbatim Sports Club defeated hosts St Sebastian Union Club 3–0 in the Benaulim Panchayat Cup. Despite a strong start and early dominance in possession by the youthful Benaulim side, the game shifted after their keeper Scott was shown a red card for pulling down a Betalbatim attacker following a defensive error. Gladson Braganza converted the resulting penalty, giving Betalbatim a 1–0 lead at halftime.

Down to ten men, Benaulim attempted a defensive strategy while hoping for an equaliser, but Betalbatim maintained control. Branson Fernandes extended the lead in the 53rd minute, and Dickson sealed the win with a clinical strike seven minutes later. Outstanding performances by Dickson and Alison guided Betalbatim into the next round.

Batora United secured a convincing 3–0 victory over Fondegal YC to advance to the next round of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025, a 9-a-side interward football tournament organized by Sporting Club of Virabhat at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. Valanko Paes opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Fondegal came close to equalizing, but Gavino Mascarenhas’ shot struck the post. In the second half, Aliynier Fernandes netted twice in the 40th and 45th minutes, sealing the win. Aliynier was awarded Man of the Match by SC Virabhat member Lawry Fernandes.

Goan Reporter: Rebello Pandal Maina Storm Into Finals After Tiebreaker Win Over Daddy’s Boys Guirdolim

Rebello Pandal Maina secured their place in the finals of the 5th All Goa 8-a-side Football Tournament, organized by Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club, by defeating Daddy’s Boys Guirdolim 7-5 via tiebreaker at Laymati Ground, Davorlim on Wednesday. Joywin Carneiro opened the scoring for Rebello, but Alerich equalized for Guirdolim, ending the first half at 1-1. In the second half, Rebello netted twice through Caetano and Joywin (who completed his brace), while Guirdolim fought back with goals from Akram Yadwad and Santan to level it 3-3 at full time. In the tiebreaker, Rebello Pandal converted four penalties, while Daddy’s Boys Guirdolim managed only two. Rebello Pandal Maina will face Our Lady of Fatima SC Baida Chinchinim in the finals on 8th June 2025 at 4:30 PM.
