Cooperation and support from all during Christmas and NY celebration in Goa hailed by Ajgaonkar: Goa all set  for festival tourism in coming weeks

Panjim,  Jan 3: The Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar  today thanked Goa Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar,  the Home  Department, Goa Police, all tourism stakeholders and  goenkars for successfully managing the peak  tourist inflow during Christmas and  New Year celebrations  in Goa.

In a statement issued today,  Mr. Ajgaonkar has  congratulated the entire administrative set up in the state,  law enforcing agencies and  the local Goans  for  extending  full co-operation  during the  peak time of the tourist season  in Goa and  to all tourism stakeholders for extending  their support,   warmth and hospitality to the visiting tourists.

Mr. Ajgaonkar said, “It is proven  that Goa is known for its hospitality and this time we have  shown  it once again to the world and  nation  that Goa is a safe destination for tourists and  that the State and  the  government under Mr. Parrikar  has ensured smooth and peaceful celebrations  of Christmas and New Year.”

Mr. Ajgaonkar further said that he is confident that statistically the inflow of tourists to Goa  has increased and  that would be  on record with the Department  of Tourism  in a few weeks from  now.

Mr. Ajgaonkar said that  in the next couple of weeks and months, Goa will be  geared up for  organizing its annual festivals like Carnaval, Shigmo,  Food and Cultural festival and  tourists should not  miss the opportunity of  making advance bookings and  participating  in  the State’s heritage and cultural diversity.

He added that the government  is also working overtime to  provide basic tourist facilities across the state so that tourists can feel  more comfortable.

He also  reiterated that  as the tourist season  will continue till May,  that  visitors should maintain  caution  while on the beaches,  avoid swimming after dark,  avoid consuming alcohol and  swimming,  stay safe,  follow the laws of the land and  pay heed to  the local and  authorities on  various dos  and don’ts.

 

 

VARIOUS PROGRAMMES TO MARK GOA LIBERATION DAY CELEBRATION

Panaji:  December 18, 2017 …. The Goa State will celebrate 56th anniversary of its Liberation on December 19, 2017. Various programmes will be held in the state to mark the celebration. The main state level function will be held at S.A.G. Ground, near Swimming Pool, Campal, Panaji, at 9.15 am where Chief Minister of Goa Shri Manohar Parrikar will unfurl the national Flag, inspect the Parade, take the Salute and later address the people of the State.

On the occasion the Chief Minster will also present awards to those who have contributed and excelled in different fields for their meritorious services.

The function will also be attended by Cabinet Ministers, Leader of the Opposition Shri Chandrakant Kavlekar, MP’s, MLA’s, Hon’ble Judges of High Court, Ld. Advocate General, Freedom Fighters among others.

On his arrival at the venue of the function the Chief Minster will be received by Minister for Power Shri Pandurang Madkaikar, Chief Secretary Shri Dharmendra Sharma, IAS and Director General of Police, Dr. Muktesh Chander, IPS.

Presentation of Cultural floats, national integrations songs, March past and Mass P.T. Drill by school children will also be held to mark the celebration.

Apart from the main function the Liberation day will be celebrated at the District level function to be held at Margao at 9.15 a.m. where Minister for Town and Country Planning Shri Vijay Sardesai will perform the Flag hoisting ceremony whereas Minister for Public Works Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar will unfurl the national flag at the function to be held at Ponda. At Mapusa Minister for Revenue Shri Rohan Khaute will perform the flag hoisting Ceremony. Minister for Panchayat Shri Mauvin Godinho, will unfurl the tri-colour at Vasco;  Minister for Tourism Shri Manohar Azgaonkar  at Pernem , Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Dr. Pramod Sawant, at Bicholim , Deputy Collector at Canacona, Deputy Collector at Quepem, Deputy Collector at Dharbandora and Mamlatdar  at Sanguem and Valpoi .

As part of the celebration Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula, Old Secretariat, Panaji, New Secretariat, Porvorim and Directorate of Accounts building will be illuminated on the nights of December 18 and 19, 2017.

Later in the evening Governor of Goa will host a reception at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula on December 19, 2017 at 5.15 p.m. 

DEEPOTSAV HELD AT RAJIV GANDHI KALA MANDIR, PONDA

Panaji: October 30, 2017 …  ‘Deepotsav’, an illuminating decor with ‘pontyo’ (the Goan clay lamps), a taluka level Aakashkandil (lantern) Making Competition, and a musical program by local artistes was organised by Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir (RGKM), Ponda in their premises on October 27, 2017. Block Development Officer (BDO) of Ponda Shri. Prasiddha Naik and Police Inspector (PI) of Ponda Police station Shri. Sudesh Naik were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor for the function.

             Stating that more and more people should participate in such traditional activities BDO Shri. Prasiddha Naik applauded the initiative by RGKM, Ponda. He also congratulated the staff and management council and urged them to organize such events on regular basis.

             PI Shri. Sudesh Naik thanked the management of RGKM, Ponda for the for giving an opportunity to the police staff an opportunity to participate as audience in the program. “Such cultural programs hone skills and gives a platform to young talent in the society,” he said.

              The dignitaries inaugurated the event by lighting the traditional lamp. They later had a look at the Aakashkandil displayed. It was for the first time Kala Mandir had organised a live competition unlike previous years in which 19 individuals participated on first come first serve basis. They were given a time limit of six hours to complete the Aakashkandil. The competition was judged by artists Shri. Vinod Tilve, Shri. Rajendra Mardolkar and Shri. Tanay Velingkar. Shri. Gajanan R. Gad Kerkar, Shri. Girish Kurtikar and Shri. Ramakant Satarkar begged the first, second and third prizes respectively while Smt. Suvarna Gaonkar and Ms. Sumita Kotkar begged the consolation prizes.

             Shri. Ajit G. S. Kerkar, vice president RGKM, Ponda gave the welcome address. Shri. Nitin Mardolkar compered the function while Smt. Nidhi Naik proposed vote of thanks. The event was followed by musical performances by local artistes.

WRD MINISTER VISITS LEGAL METROLOGY DEPARTMENT

Panaji: October 26,2017 The Minister for Water Resources Shri Vinod Palyenkar visited the Department of Legal Metrology at Porvorim yesterday. This was the maiden visit of Shri Palyenkar to the Department of Legal Metrology after holding the portfolio of Legal Metrology.

During his visit to the office Shri Paklyenkar acquainted himself about the functioning of office.

Shri Palyenkar   held  a meeting with the officers and staff members  about the working  and the activities of the Department. Shri Prasad S. Shirodkar, Asst. Controller Legal Metrology, Mapusa gave power point presentation   about   the functioning of  the office.

Shri Kiran Kossambe , Controller Legal Metrology informed  the Minister that  the cases booked during the year 2015-16 are 282 and number of cases  compounded under  PC rules are 237. The Compounding fees  collected is Rs.11,09000 Whereas the verification fees collected is Rs8,767,3009 and other fees collected is Rs. 6002 etc.

Thereafter Shri Palyenkar directed the concerned  authorities to keep vigil on illegalities as regards to  weights and measures shops and other establishments.

CM VISITS MAPUSA MUNICIPALITY

Panaji: October 25, 2017 …. Chief Minister Shri. Manohar Parrikar paid a visit to Mapusa Municipality today and acquainted himself about the progress and pending works in the city. The Chief Minister held a meeting with Councilors of MMC and Government officials from various dept which includes PWD, Police, GSUDA, Electricity, and instructed them to work co-ordially for the betterment of the city.

            As tourist season has kicked off, the Chief Minister assured sufficient amount of Police personnel to ensure safety and discipline. He also directed the PWD officials to complete the major projects which were pending due to rains. He also said that the Government will aim to provide uninterrupted water and power supply in the city.

            The Chief Minister later held a meeting with stakeholders and beneficiaries and Planning and Development Authority of Town Planning Scheme Cell. He said considering the growing population of Mapusa city, proper planning of the city is mandatory. The plan is meant to end the chaos and ensure smooth transportation,” he said.

            The plan contains two progressive phases. Phase I includes areas in down town Mapusa where as Phase II includes Kamarkhazan and Gounswada areas.

RESULTS OF ALL INDIA/ALL GOA TRADE TEST OF CRAFTSMEN DECLARED

Panaji, October 21, 2017 …   The results of All India/All Goa Trade Test of Craftsmen, COE-BBBT(Broad Based Basic Training) and Advanced Modules, NCVT/SCVT, held in the month of August, 2017 have been declared by the Board of Examination under CTS Scheme. The seat numbers of the successful trainees will be displayed on the Notice Board of the respective I.T.I.s.

All those who wish to re-appear for the ensuing All India/All Goa Trade Test of Craftsmen, COE-BBBT (Broad Based Basic Training) and Advanced Modules NCVT/SCVT, in March, 2018 should approach the respective ITIs to fill in their forms.

The last date to receive such applications in the respective I.T.I.s is November 10, 2017 and the same applications along with the copy of challan payment receipt, the statement of trainees appearing subject wise as mentioned in Annexure ‘A’ should reach the Examination Cell, O/o Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Panaji-Goa from the respective I.T.I.s by November 17, 2017 for candidates applying through I.T.I.s. No applications shall be entertained after due date.

The examination fees from the regular trainees shall be collected on or before November 10, 2017 and the same copy of Challan Payment receipt along with Annexure “B”, statement showing the number of trainees likely to appear for ensuing All India/All Goa Trade Test of Craftsmen, COE-BBBT (Broad Based Basic Training) and Advanced Modules NCVT/SCVT in March, 2018 shall reach the Examination Cell by November 17, 2017.

          Those who wish to apply for revaluation of their marks should submit their application through their respective ITI’s on or before November 01, 2017 and the application so received should reach the Examination Cell from the respective ITIs by November 06, 2017.

“ENAMELING” WORKSHOP INAUGURATED

Panaji: August 2, 2017 …. The Directorate of Art & Culture, has organized a four day “Enameling” workshop  at Chitrakala Studio, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji today                       Shri. Meghan Salgaonkar Resource Person  and  Shri. Ashok  Parab Assist, Director  Art & Culture  inaugurated the workshop by lighting the traditional lamp.

Shri Meghan Salgaonkar who was the resource person for the workshop said that the Every  field is blooming with new techniques. Enameling art also is one of these art forms. To prosper in this art form each and every artist have to learn the basic techniques of the field. Having basic knowledge of the art is important as it would give new ideas to the work.

The 4 day workshop will be conducted till August 4, 2017 at Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji. Around 20 participants have participated in this workshop.

Shri. Yogesh Joshi anchored the function and also presented the vote of thanks.

ADMISSIONS OPEN FOR DIPLOMA COURSES AT GMC

Panaji : March 6, 2017 … Applications are invited from eligible candidates who have obtained their Permanent Registration with Medical Council of India / State Medical Council and have appeared for NEET – PG for admissions to 50% State Quota Post Graduate Degree / Diploma seats of Goa University at Goa Medical College for the academic year 2017-18. There are 11 newly permitted PG Degree seats out of which 3% are allocated to PH Candidate.

62ND NATIONAL SCHOOL GAMES IN SQAY MARTIAL ARTS FROM NOV 4

Panjim, OCTOBER 30, 2016 …. The Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Goa will be hosting the 62nd National School Games in Sqay Martial Arts U-14 & 17 years Boys and Girls and Tchoukball U-19 years Boys and Girls under the aegis of the School Games Federation of India from November 4-November 6, 2016 at Peddem Sports Complex, Peddem, Mapusa, Goa.

A total of 1200 participants including officials from various states and Union Territories are expected to participate.   

BRICS YOUTH FORUM CONCLUDES

PANAJI, September 21, 2016“The BRICS youth Forum has taken up in-depth studies on many crucial issues such as health, trade and commerce and women’s upliftment. This is a forum that works for the humanity.

The Governor further said that the BRICS countries should try and share technology, economic trade and commerce amongst each other to build a strong society. We must together set goals for sustainable growth. Issues such as climate change, health, malnutrition, poverty and unemployment can be conquered by coming together at a forum like this.
