Applications are invited by Goa University for one post of Research Assistant, for the period of eight months (extendable by another 10 months) to work on an ICSSR-sponsored Major Research Project entitled ‘Religion, Livelihood and Public Policy: Dialectics of Reciprocal Integration between Tibetan Refugees and Ladakhi Buddhists in the Union Territory of Ladakh.’

Essential Qualifications are Ph.D./M. Phil./MA in any of the Social Sciences with desirable Knowledge of spoken Ladakhi and/or Tibetan and Knowledge of basic QGIS. Salary will be Rs.37,000.00 per month. The walk-in interview will be held on July 15, 2024 at 3.30 pm in Room Number BG 03 at the D. D. Kosambi School of Social Sciences and Behavioural Studies. Goan Reporter News: Dr. Irene Silveira Awarded Prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques

Dr. Irene Silveira, Assistant Professor of French and Francophone Studies at the Shenoi Goembab School of Languages and Literature, Goa University, has been awarded the prestigious Chevalier de l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques.

Established in 1808 by Emperor Napoleon, this esteemed knighthood is a national honour conferred by the French Republic. It recognizes distinguished academics and educators worldwide for their significant contributions to education, universities, and science.

Dr. Silveira has made remarkable contributions to the French language and culture through her various academic and cultural endeavours. As the former Deputy Director of Alliance Française, Panaji, she led teacher training programs, skill development initiatives, and organized numerous cultural events. She has been the recipient of multiple scholarships, including the International Teacher Training Scholarship awarded by the French Embassy in India and CIEP, Sèvres, Paris, in 2015.

Dr. Silveira’s doctoral research focused on Goan immigration to France, exploring the social and linguistic integration of the French-Goan diaspora. A prolific scholar, she has presented and published papers at numerous national and international conferences. In 2023, she was selected for the Academic Staff Mobility under the MOBILE 2 BE Project, financed by the European Commission within the framework of ‘Erasmus’, at the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade do Porto, Portugal.

Currently, she serves as the Programme Director of M.A. French, while also advancing research as a Ph.D. research guide for French doctoral students at Goa University.

This French honour celebrates Dr. Silveira’s exceptional scholarship and her outstanding contributions to French education and culture.

Goan Reporter News: Date for Aadhar Enrolment To Ration Card Beneficiaries Extended

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Department of Food and Public Distribution, New Delhi has extended the date for Aadhar enrolment/application for Aadhar Enrolment of the non – seeded Aadhar Ration card beneficiaries up to September 30, 2024.

All the non-seeded Aadhar Ration card beneficiaries are requested to submit their Aadhar card to respective Taluka Civil Supplies office on or before September 30, 2024 as Aadhar card is compulsory document for ration card and same is notified by the Department vide Official Gazette, Government of Goa Series I, No. 51, dated March 19, 2020.

All the non-seeded Aadhar Ration card beneficiaries are informed that upon failure to get their Aadhar seeding done by visiting Taluka Civil Supplies office by September 30, 2024 then their names will be temporarily deleted from the ration card database.

The deleted names will not be allowed to be retrieved to the database unless application specifying reasons for non-seeding along with Aadhar card is submitted to respective Taluka Civil Supplies office.

Goa- 25th June2024 Trailer of upcoming heritage Film, “Attari Junction – A 161 year old Historic Railway Station” was today released by Director General of Police Goa Jaspal Singh ,IPS at Police Headquarters in , Panaji, Goa and said that the trailer will be an eye opener not only for people of Goa but all over India  and  for those who have interest in Punjab’s rich Heritage, Culture  making them aware about this significant railway junction having the history of 1947 partition and applauded the good work initiated by Harpreet Sandhu, Former Additional Advocate General Punjab and Director of the Film . DGP Goa Jaspal Singh further stated that the upcoming film Attari Junction historical significance lies close to the Wagah-Attari Border in Amritsar, Punjab.

Film Director Harpreet Sandhu shared that the Trailer showcases the Historic Attari Railway station which served not merely as a transit point; but it represented symbol of cross border connectivity and cultural exchange with Goa. He further stated that the upcoming documentary will focus on historical architecture of more than a century-old Attari railway station, which is a blend of Indo-Islamic and Victorian architectural styles, the arches and ornate facades showcasing an aura of grandeur and elegance of the bygone era which have seldom been highlighted earlier. It will also highlight unique historical significance and crucial role of Attari Railway Station in facilitating cross-border trade, tourism, and people-to-people interactions which apart of few from the older generation, majority are not aware regarding the prominence of this heritage railway station.
