Goan Reporter News: BLS and ALS ambulances are an asset to us: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane

Six Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances and two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances were handed over to the Directorate of Health Services (DHS) under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (A Government of India Enterprise) Western Region-1at a function held today at Vanbhavan, Altinho, Panaji, in the presence of Health Minister, Shri Vishwajit Rane.

Present on the occasion were Director of DHS, Dr Geeta Kakodar, Power Grid officials-Senior General Manager, Shri SBR Rao, Deputy General Manager, Shri BL Kumare, Chief Managers Shri Nasir Husen Shaikh and Shri Prabhu Bhandare, among others.

While speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister said that these ambulances are an asset to the Health services in Goa as it would decrease the response time in attending to saving lives. Lauding the Goa Health Model, he said that the Government is working on providing accessible health care and would be replacing old ambulances and strengthening the current fleet of ambulances.

BLS ambulances are typically emergency ambulances and aid the necessary medical support till the patient is transported to the hospital that are severely injured. These ambulances will be later handed over to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) in Chicalim, Community Health Centres (CHCs) in Pernem, Canacona and Primary Health Centres (PHCs) in Siolim, Quepema and Corlim. ALS also known as Cardiac Ambulances, designed specifically to assist patients suffering from cardiac diseases, will be handed over the 108 cell.
