A meeting was recently held under the Chairmanship of Dr. C. Candavelou, IAS, Chief Secretary at Secretariat,  Porvorim with Government officers and representatives of association of All Goa Muslim Jamats regarding conducting of Qurbani for ‘Eid Al Adha’ which will be celebrated in State between May 28 and May 30, 2026

The representatives of Association of All Goa Muslim Jamats were informed that in the State the slaughter of only buffaloes is allowed and is only at Goa Meat Complex Ltd., Usgao.

Qurbani of only bigger animals other than baffaloes like bulls etc. or at any other place other than Goa Meat Complex Ltd. will be treated as illegal and legal proceeding forthwith  will be initiated without any further notice.

Adequate arrangements have been made at the Goa Meat Complex Ltd. regarding slaughter of animals and its transport to various locations in State, which were reviewed by the Chief Secretary and necessary directions for the same were issued in this behalf.

Animals which are brought for Qurbani should be arriving at Goa Meat Complex Ltd., Usgao accompanied by the certificate under Rule 96 of transportation of Animals Rules 2001 under prevention of cruelty to Animals Act 1960.

            The animals carrier vehicle which are entering the State from the check posts of Mollen, Poinguinum, Keri-Sattari, Dodarmarg and Patradevi should inform the following competent Authority in advance for facilitating smooth transportation of the Anmetals to GMCL Usgao

The meat slaughtered outside  the State in the designated approved slaughter houses shell only be permitted to enter the State provided, they are accompanied with Ante Mortem Certificate, Post Mortem Certificate, copy of License with full address, contact number and in a refrigerated vehicle only.

All other imports of beef or improper transportation of legally sourced beef shall be treated as illegal and shall forthwith be confiscated by Officer Incharge by filing of FIR against such importer transporter.
