The Governor, P Ashok Gajapathi Raju has extendedwarm greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, traditionally known as Chavath in Goa.
In his message, the Governor said, “GaneshChaturthi is a festival of devotion, joy and togetherness. Lord Ganesha, revered as Vighnaharta and Mangalmurti
The Governor added, “Chavath is a deeply cherished festival that brings families and relatives together to celebrate through time-honoured traditions and rituals. The reunion of loved ones during Chavath strengthens family bonds, fosters a spirit of unity and social harmony, and helps preserve our rich cultural heritage for generations to come”.
“A special and distinctive feature of Goan Chavath is the Matoli, a traditional canopy beautifully adorned with fruits, vegetables, leaves, roots and other natural produce. The festival is also marked by traditional delicacies sweets such as Nevryo and Modak, prepared with love and offered to Lord Ganesha. These cherished traditions reflect Goa’s deep bond with nature and its rich culinary, agricultural and cultural heritage, while strengthening family bonds and inspiring younger generations to preserve and carry forward our traditions”, the Governor stated.
“As we celebrate this joyous festival, let us also remain mindful of our responsibility towards nature and strive to celebrate in an environmentally conscious and responsible manner. By protecting Goa’s natural beauty, rich biodiversity and ecological heritage, we can ensure that these timeless traditions continue to flourish and inspire generations to come”, the Governor said.
