Panaji :: November 11 2017 … Chief Minister Shri. Manohar Parrikar today felicitated Special Children from Disha School for Special Children(DSSC), Panaji, National Association for the Blind, Goa State branch, Santa Cruz, Sanjay Centre for Special Education, Porvorim and Lokvishwas Pratisthan, Ponda, who have excelled in Swimming under the ‘Learn to Swim’ program by Sports Authority of Goa (SAG). EDC Chairman Shri. Shri. Sidharth Kuncalienker and SAG Director Shri. V.M. Prabhudessai were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister congratulated the special children, their parents and teachers and SAG for their efforts. “By providing an opportunity and good training, special children can bring laurels in every field. They can perform better than others. Government has a very positive attitude towards the talent and capabilities of divyang. I am sure, they will make the state proud with their achievements,” he said. He also said that Government will take steps to encourage special kids in the field of arts and sports.
The Chief Minister later felicitated the special children by distributing special swimming kit. He also felicitated Ms. Gayatri Dessai, student of DDSC for winning two Bronze medals at Special World Olympic, Athens 2011 and two Bronze medals at Special Asia Pacific Regional Games, New Castle 2013.
Smt. Sandhya Kalokhe, Principal of DDSC also spoke on the occasion. Shri. Albert Durado, program co-ordinator compered the function and also proposed the vote of thanks.
