Panaji : February 25, 2020 :::: Electricity Department has informed that all the consumers of Electricity Department, Sub-Div-I(U), Porvorim, pertaining to Village Panchayat areas of Socorro, Salvador-do-mundo, Penha-de-France, Pilerne, Sangolda and Saligao, are hereby requested to pay their outstanding electricity bills within 15 days of publication of this notice failing which the defaulting consumers connection will be liable for disconnection without any further notice.

PANAJI: 23/02/2020 ::: Goa Football Development Council (GFDC) inaugurated its 38th training centre at Carmona in association with Carmona Sports Club at the panchayat ground recently. Over 150 trainees have already enrolled at the centre.

The Chief Guest and President of GFA, Churchill Alemao who inaugurated this facility highlighted that sports is the best paid career option keeping in mind the lack of jobs in the state.

“However much tuition is given it is currently very difficult to get a job. I request the parents to send your child to play a game and 200 percent a job is ready. A boy from Verna, Lenny Rodrigues played for my club for six years. Today he is number one in India and earning over Rs. 60 lacs a year. He had started off at barely Rs. 9000. If you are good at some sport there is no need to beg but you will get a job automatically. In Goa there are many graduate and double graduates but find no jobs available. Half the budget in the state is over paying salaries. I request the kids to train every day and players from Carmona should play at the national level one day,” said Alemao.

While addressing the gathering, the Member Secretary GFDC, Aleixo da Costa thanked the local sports club for helping and supporting to bring the Carmona centre into existence.

“In the beginning the attendance across the centres is good but as time passes the numbers are dropping. When we ask the centre heads and coaches the reasons cited to us is that kids have to attend tuitions and hence cannot find time to train. Parents want their children to become doctors or engineers but there is no need to enrol them for tuition at an early age. The child who comes to the ground and sweats is fresh to go back and study. A child who plays daily remains healthy as well. I request the parents to send their children on the ground daily without fail,” said Costa.

The Carmona village panchayat members, sports enthusiasts, parents and trainees were present to grace the occasion.

Governor of Goa, Shri Satya Pal Malik has said that Our Army should have a proud feeling that they are the paramount and most respectable citizens of this country since they safeguards our boundaries and keep our country safe and  as a result of which every citizen of this country live comfortably and can sleep peacefully.

 Governor was speaking as Chief Guest for the function Organised by 2 Signal Training Center (2 STC),  Goa to celebrate its 109^th Anniversary of Corps of Signals at Prakash Stadium, Military Camp, Bambolim. Other dignitaries present on the dais were Commandant, 2 STC Brigadier Sanjay Rawal. The function was also attended by family members of all ranks of Corps of Signals of 2 STC.  

Speaking further Governor said that while reading all the great battles of the world he learned that the forces whose morale, training, weapons and whose leadership is good, and  support of the society can excel. The respect earned by Indian Army in the country through their good work and boldness, result of which the forces of India have shown the amazing feats in the books of the world and at present on number two position as per ranking.

            Sharing his experience during his tenure as Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Governor said he visited  Siachin and after meeting the army personnel got opportunity to know their working style. Referring the Siachen war, Governor said many soldiers were martyred while fighting the war of Siachen and even many soldiers died due to worst weather conditions of extreme temperature but still our Soldiers are doing their duty without any regrets and complaints.

            Governor said that any country is not known by its number of buildings, nor by its factories, nor by roads, the country is known by its citizens, Armies, leaders by their action, practice and morality.Whenever our Armies fought in wars they won and always raised our head.

            It is matter of pride to see there are many villages from Rajasthan and other places where statues of martyr soldiers are displayed at the entrance of every village these are places of pilgrimage and people visit such places.

Panaji: February 21,2020 … Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant  today  highlighted the need to follow the thoughts and ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to create a State on the lines  of kingdom ruled by Shivaji Maharaj.

Speaking as the Chief Guest after paying  tributes to Ch. Shivaji Maharaj on the occasion of his birth anniversary celebration by the State at a function organized by the Department of Information & Publicity in association with Bandora Village Panchayat  and Kavale ZP Member at Farmagudi Ponda.

The Chief Minister informed that the Government has plans to undertake expansion including development and beautification of the existing fort at Farmagudi, foundation for which will be laid shortly to ensure that the work is accomplished within one year. He said once the work of expansion is completed, the fort will be equipped with portraits of Shivaji Maharaj, besides artefacts, ammunitions and other items used by the great Maratha warrior during his regime.

The function was attended by Minister for Art & Culture Shri Govind Gaude,Ex-Chief Minister & MLA Shri Ravi Naik; Chairperson, PMC, Shri Venkatesh Naik; Secretary for Information, Shri Sanjay Kumar IAS, and others attended the function.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the need to imbibe in the minds of the people and particularly the students community the principles and morals preached by the legendary Maratha king in the history.

Minister for Art & Culture Shri Govind Gaude in his address stressed the need for skills of  proper planning adopted by Shivaji Maharaj the Maratha King. He said Shivaji with his shrewd qualities coupled with firm determination and valour succeeded in conquering many forts. He was a mass leader and has always served people irrespective of caste, creed, sex and religion and advised to adhere to sincerity in all respect.

Dr. Padmakar Gorhe, the Keynote Speaker from Pune, delivered his keynote address in which he spoke on the life and work of Shivaji Maharaj. He said Shivaji was popular among the people belonging to different faiths. He was a man with secular outlook who worked tirelessly to give justice to the people.

Prior to the main function held in the precincts of Shree Ganapati Devasthan, the Chief Minister and Minister for Art & Culture Shri Govind Gaude and other dignitaries garlanded the statue of Shivaji Maharaj at fort premises and offered floral tributes. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries also garlanded the statue of first Chief Minister of Goa Late Bhausaheb Bandodkar. The children of Bal Bhavan presented bravery song on Shivaji Maharaj ( powada ) welcome song. Women attached to Stree Garjana comprising of 40 women presented dhol, tasha, pathak. While the students of Dada Vaidya High School presented lejhim dance.etc.

As a part of  the celebration inter collegiate quiz and  theatrical entry (Natya Pravesh) competitions were organized.
