As part of the programme, students will be made aware of crimes, the modus operandi and how it can be avoided from happening.

It may be noted that Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar had alleged that two former ministers in the previous Congress-led Digambar Kamat government might be involved in the bribery case but had not named anyone.

The reactions by the former chief minister had come in the wake of a New Jersey-based construction management firm Louis Berger being charged with bribing Indian officials with several crores to win two major water developmental projects in Goa and Guwahati.

The alleged bribery of $976,630 for a Goa project by Louis Berger included that to a minister, the details of which have not been disclosed by the US Department of Justice. Federal prosecutors, in their 11-page chargesheet, alleged that Louis Berger maintained a detailed diary and account of bribery made to Indian officials.

A TALK ON ART BY JOGEN CHOWDHURY ON JULY 25

Panaji: July 19, 2015 … The Directorate of Art and Culture in collaboration with Foundation for Indian Art and Education, Goa will be organizing “Art Talks” lecture series on Visual Art by prominent Indian personalities in field of art, the fourth lecture of the series will be delivered by Shri Jogen Chowdhury, renowned Indian Contemporary Artist on July 25, 2015 at 4.30 p.m. at the Lecture Hall, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji.

Shri Jogen Chowdhury will give a lecture on the topic”My Art-My Life”. Artist and activist Jogen Chowdhury was born in 1939, Faridpur, Bangladesh. He joined as a teacher in the Painting Department Kala Bhavana after leaving the post of Keeper of Art at the Rashtrapati Bhavana in 1987.

He developed a unique style of painting with ink, water colour and pastel. As a teacher, Jogen s always a warm inspiration to his students. He organized and founded art activities such as Gallery 26 artists Forum, Calcutta Painters, Kolkata International Foundation of Arts.

Professor Emeritus of Visva Bharati , Kala Bhavana Jogen Chowdhury lives and works in Santiniketan and Kolkata. Jogen Chowdhury himself is a master of lines and he has mastered to make the curves depict the character of his figures.

By careful distortion of the form he imparts the air of caricature in his figures, figures of men and women. The figure is always the most important and conveys all the artist has to express. Colour, he used though is to provide matter into the form.

The talk will be followed by a question and answer session with the artist. The artist and art enthusiast of Goa are cordially invited to attend the talk. The program will be open to all and free of cost.

B.A B.ED INTEGRATED COURSE AN INNOVATIVE IDEA – CM

CM INAUGURATES REFURBISHED OFFICE PREMISES OF TCP

Panaji, July 18, 2015 … Chief Minister Shri Laxmikant Parsekar inaugurated the refurbished Office of Chief Town Planner in the distinguished presence of Dy. Chief Minister Shri Francis D’Souza, Dr. Pramod Sawant, MLA and Chairman of GSIDC, Shri Sidharth Kuncalienkar, MLA and Chairman of EDC and Shri Arun Goyal, Principal Secretary, Town and Country Planning.

The office is housed on 2nd floor, Dempo Tower, Patto, Panaji. It is fully renovated by providing new flooring, false ceiling, cabin partitions, light fixtures etc alongwith all new furniture giving new look and spirit to the office. Newly refurbished office is now fully air-conditioned with low energy consuming LED lights, giving lively atmosphere and ambience to the office.

The refurbished work has been executed under GSIDC. An amount of Rs. 2.15 crores has been spent on refurbished office premises.

Briefing media persons after the inauguration of new refurbished office premises the Dy. Chief Minister Shri D’Souza said Government is contemplating to conduct audit of 30 years old Government buildings as well as private buildings to assess their conditions and initiate safety measures accordingly to avoid any untoward incidents in future.

In this context the Dy. Chief Minister said the process in this regard will be started in next 15 days time wherein the Government will empanel qualified technical personnel for conducting audit.

The Dy. Chief Minister said local self Government bodies such as Municipalities and Village Panchayats should identified those buildings which are in dilapidated condition and bring it to the notice of the Government so that the Government can take appropriate steps for its restoration.

Referring to the old houses built during Portuguese regime the Dy. Chief Minister said the Government will ensure that proper care of such houses is taken.
