Congress members files their party nomination forms for the congress ticket for the upcoming Panjim constituency by elections

11/12/2014 … Congress members namely ccp mayor surendra furtado, gpcc general secretary artur sequiera and secretary ezilda sapeco filed their party nomination forms for the congress ticket for the upcoming Panjim constituency by elections

all the concerned congress members submitted their nomination forms to the party general secretary altino gomes with the party nomination fess of ten thousand rupees each

It may be noted that a seat of the Panjim constituency had left vacant after the former chief minister Manohar parrikar had resigned from his mla members of Panjim constituency after being made the defence minister of the country

Though the state congress party had already announced that their party candidate would be selected through proper procedure congress mla from st cruz constituency babush monsoratte has also announced his candidature for the panjim by elections

Meanwhile gpcc general secretary altino gomes informed about the procedure of selecting a candidate for the congress ticket

state tourism department to ask event organizers of sunburn and supersonic to strictly implement the ban on smoking and drugs

Stating that there was a need to put a ban on smoking in open places specially during the tourism related the state tourism department has said that they ask the event organizers of sunburn and supersonic to strictly implement the ban on smoking and drugs and not to allow such activities to be carried during the concerned events being held in goa ….

Speaking to goanrepeorter tourism minister dilip parulekar said that his department would ask the event organizers to strictly implement of putting a ban on activities like smoking and drugs during event like sunburn and supersonic where in even the media had to play an important role to curb such illegal activities

Commenting over the issue of the confusion for dates between sunburn and supersonic Parulekar said that since the feast of st francs Xavier was over while exposition was still on and there was no much crowd at the moment at old goa there was no problem to have both the events sunburn and supersonic at the same time thus concerning law and order problem at the venue being approved by the state police department

Parulekar said that both the event organizers had submitted their concerned plan to the single window system committee of the state tourism department

1) Old Goa P..S Cr.No. 218/2014 u/s 325, 504 IPC

          Shri Tasleem Arif Shaikh, r/o St. Cruz, Old Goa complained that on 05.12.2014 at 22.00 hrs to 23.00 hrs at St. Cruz, accused person Sayyad Shabuddin r/o Betim assaulted him  with waist leather belt buckle on his left eye with waist belt on his back and left forearm and also bite on his left ear, thereby causing him serious injuries.

                                         SOUTH GOA DISTRICT

A.    CASES UNDER IPC.

 

1.      Margao Town Cr. No. 542/14 U/s 279,338 IPC and 134(a), (b) of M. V. Act.

       That on 07.12.2014 at 19.00 hrs, H.C- 3145, Shri. Ganapti S. Naik of Margao Town PS lodged his complaint on behalf of State that on 06/12/2014 at 19.50 hrs. Opp. Kalika wine shop, near Arlem Junction, Margao, Goa, accused namely Janardhan s/o Bala Naik, age 40 yrs., r/o Amthana, Bicholim, drove his Kadamba bus bearing no. GA-03-X-0258 in a rash & negligence manner endangering human life while proceeding from KTC bus stand Margao to Mudediha, Bijapur and on reaching at opposite Kalika wine Shop near Arlem Junction, gave dash to a pedestrian lady namely Santana Vaz, age 52 yrs., r/o Arlem, Margao, due to which said lady sustained injuries to her both legs, who is presently undergoing medical treatment at GMC, Bambolim and further fled away from the spot without giving her medical treatment and information to police. Further investigation is in progress.   

B.     Un-Natural Death Cases.

1.      Vasco P.S. U.D. No. 63/14 U/s 174 Cr.P.C.

      That on 07.12.14 at 15.35 hrs, Vasco PS received wireless message from Casualty Police, GMC Bambolim, informing that Patient namely Kajal Poddar, age 42 yrs., r/o Dabolim, Vasco, admitted under MLC No. 14/1674 in ward no. 109 expired as a case of burn at her residence. Dead body is preserved in GMC Morgue. Inquest and P.M. examination is being held. Further investigation is in progress.\

2.   Colva P.S. U.D. No. 41/14 U/s 174 Cr.P.C.

        That on 07/12/2014 at 23.00 hrs. Colva PS received phone call from Casualty Police, Hospicio Hospital Margao, informing that one Mr. Deepak Katri, age 50 yrs., r/o, c/o Colva Residency, Colva, Salcete, N/o Nagaland, is brought dead at Casualty in Hospicio Hospital Margao. Dead body preserved at Hospicio Hospital Morgue for further formalities. Further investigation is in progress.

Chief Minister laxmikhant Parsekar honours state sports personalities at the annual Geno Sports Awards

07/12/2014 ….Chief Minister laxmikhant Parsekar recently honored various sports personalities at the annual Geno Sports Awards held for the year 2013-14

Mr Parsekar presented the Geno Awards in the following categories such as Best Sportsman: Yash Fadte (squash); Best Sportswoman: Anura Prabhudesai (badminton); Best Upcoming Sportsman: Nitish Belurkar (chess); Best Upcoming Sportswoman: Lifa Gama (football); Best Organiser: Paresh Kamat (Goa Athletic Association); Best Coach: Nilesh Naik (tennis ball cricket); Best Team: Goa-India football team and Best College: St Xavier’s College, Mapusa.

Apart from these awards, two prominent international sports personalities from Goa woman cricketer Shikha Pandey and international football referee Maria Rebello were presented with special awards for their outstanding performance.
Michael Sequeira of PTI was also felicitated on the occasion for his contribution in the field of sports journalism for past several years.
Speaking on the occasion chief minister laxmikhant Parsekar said that there was a need for business or corporate houses to come forward help budding sports talents of the state like geno pharmaceuticals were doing
Chairman and managing director of Geno Pharmaceuticals Pvt Ltd Dilip Salgaocar said that the main idea of having the geno sports award was to encourage the sports personalities of the state with good track record in different fields

 

ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY RECEPTION HELD

December 6,2014….  Governor of Goa, Smt Mridula Sinha has said that the Indian Armed forces are a major integrating force, who safeguarded the country from external threats and internal disturbances through their dedicated services. They have been playing a major role for the rescue and relief of the people during natural and man made calamities, with indomitable spirit, utmost dedication, relentless determination, deep commitment and supreme patriotic spirit. 

The Governor was speaking at the Armed Forces Flag day reception at Raj Bhavan yesterday evening.

Spouse if Governor Dr Ram Krupal Sinha, PWD Minister Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavlikar, Sports Minister Shri Ramesh Tawadkar,MLA’S Dr. Pramod Sawant, Shri Rohan Khaunte were present.

Smt. Sinha said that the heroic fights against many threats and challenges and their valuable service to the people and the country have earned them wide appreciation and gratitude from the people. She that there is need that the citizens should give moral support and extend our solidarity to serving Armed Forces personnel, so that they can discharge their duties and functions with confidence, responsibility and devotion.     

Chief Minister Shri Laximikant Parsekar  said that the contribution of armed forces not only on the borders but internal disturbances, natural calamaties, disasters is immense. They play a great role in protecting and therefore the citizens should acknowledge the contribution  and liberally donate to the flag day fund. 

The prizes for highest contribution were won by the Department of Education,women and Child,Excise and the Captain of Ports respectively. The Ex- Servicemen achiever award was bagged by Hon Captain Dattaram Sawant. Chief Secretary R.K. Srivastava also spoke in the occasion.

An illustrated calendar of the Department if Sainik welfare was released at the hands if the Governor. Well known singer Smt. Samiksha Bhobe Kakodkar sang a patriotic song. Secretary DSW Maj Venugopal Nair welcomed while Brig. Ian D’Costa(Retd)proposed vote of thanks. RJ Pankaj Kurtarkar and Smt. Shrada compared.

SALE OF X’MAS STARS AND CRIBS BY GHRSSIDC

Dated: December 5, 2014 …. The Goa Handicrafts, Rural and Small Industries Development Corporation Ltd., is offering sale of X’mas stars and Cribes at this Christmas at very reasonable rates at all  the emporiums in the state located at Panaji, Vasco, Margao, Mapusa and Calangute areas.

These items are made by the prisoners of Aguada jail and are kept for sale to help prisoners to motivate them for self employment.

The GHRSSIDC has requested the people to purchase these items. The stars are made as per Goan traditional designs with traditional materials.

SELF HELP GROUP MELA ON DEC 6, 7 AND 8

Panaji; Dec 4, 2014 …. The Goa State Urban Development Agency will be holding a state level Self Help Group Mela on December 6 to 8 2014 at Lohia Maidan, Margao under the National Urban Livelihoods Mission Programme of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Government of India. The function will be inaugurated on  December 6, 2014 at 10.30 am by Dy. Chief Minister   Shri Francis D’Souza in the presence of Shri Digamber Kamat and Shri Vijay Sardesai, MLAs and other dignitaries.

In order to make the programme participatory in nature GSUDA will organize drawing and fancy dress competition. For students from Margao schools for 2 days on December 6 and 7, 2014.  Fancy dress on December 6 at 4.00 pm and drawing competition on December 7, 2014 at 10.30 am. There will be a snake show by Amrut Singh on December  6, 2014 at 6.15 pm.  And Astronomical show by Friends of Astronomy, Panaji on December 8, 2014 at 6 pm. On December 7, 2014 Orchestra by Sachin  will be staged at 4 pm.

     Around 50 stalls will be allotted to Self  Help Group by Goa State Urban Development Agency. The transport facility will also be provided to SHGs.     

SOCIAL REFORMS ARE INSPIRED BY IMPORTANT LITERARY WORKS –GOVERNOR

Panaji: December 3,2014 …. The Governor of Goa Smt Mridula Sinha has said that any literary form may it be a poem, novel, or story should have the base of facts and reality. Literature is embodiment of human ire, feelings and expressions therefore  literature has been called as the mirror of society.

Smt. Sinha was speaking after releasing a story book at a function organized by the Fundacao Oriente in the city yesterday. The book is a compilation of various stories penned down by different young and new story writers from Goa for Story Writing Competition-2013 organized by Fundacao Oriente itself.

Smt. Sinha further speaking said that knowledge and wisdom expressed in literary works like poems, short stories etc. have a crucial role to play in the social and intellectual progress of the people. Valuable literature has the power and effect of transforming the society. Social reforms are always inspired by important literary works therefore literature has to lead life. Literature should contain creative ideas and should bring about lasting impression in the minds of people the people about higher qualities and realities of life.

Smt. Sinha further speaking also said that good literature has power which should mirror the values common to all humanity and in spreading the message of truth. In fact it should reflect our aspirations and a universal appeal. She advised the new and young writers to avoid the tendency to go in for cheap literature which is not a good sign. Instead of cheap writing upcoming writers should take to write such a literature which will be useful for all people that can produce right impact on minds of readers and can give them true education together with providing the pleasure of reading she further added.

Smt Sheela Jaywant a writer and one  of the   jury for the competition while speaking told about the typicality’s of various writers in story writing and discussed about plots of their stories and narration as well.

Dr.Rui Carvalho Baceira , Consul General of  Portugal  in Goa, Prof. Maria  do  Coir Barreto, Chairperson of the Jury of the short story competition 2013, Writer Smt. Maria Aurora Cuto and eminent personalities from the field of literature were present at the function. .

Dr.Eduardo Kol de Carvalho, Delegate of Fundacao Oriente welcomed and compered the function.

PLACES OF WORSHIP RESTORE OUR FAITH: GOVERNOR

Panaji:  December 2, 2014 ….. Governor of Goa, Smt. Mridula Sinha asserted that places of worship are a source to restore one’s faith in their religion and therefore urged people to frequent such places to cleanse our mind and soul from all evil things.

               The Governor was speaking at the function held on the occasion of installation of deity’s at Shree Mahalsa Narayani Devalaya at Verna, yesterday.  Shree Jagatguru Shree Shree Shree Bharatitirth Maharaj had earlier installed the deity’s at the temple.  Chief Minister, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar also participated in the ceremony.

 Smt. Mridula said the varied and rich culture for which India is known for should be maintained at all cost.  Human development through such places should be encouraged in a big way, she added.

 Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Shri Rajendra Arlekar expressing happiness on the completion of the restoration work of the temple urged the people to work in a determined direction and to work for the development of the nation.

 The Governor on her arrival was received by the President and executive committee members of the temple.

 Earlier, Shri Kamlesh G. Naik, Shri Narayan Bandekar, Shri Gurdigar, Shri K.D. Sadhale and Shri Subhash Velingkar were felicitated at the hands of the Swami in recognition to their contribution and service to the temple.
