04/11/2014 …. Pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar has blamed the erstwhile congress led government for the implementation of the mopa airport in to the state of goa stating that the start of mopa airport in the state was done by the congress party

Speaking to goanreporter pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar said that members of the congress party themselves were unaware as what they were talking either on mopa airport or on the tenancy act as when the bill was table on the floor of the house most of the congress mla had kept quite over the issue

Dhavlikar said that if mopa was coming than obviously a six lane highway was the need of the hour and there was no need for anyone to inform the government over it

Meanwhile bicholim mla naresh sawal said that it was a political stunt and there were certain politicians who were trying to put fear in to the minds of goans

Villagers of corlim organises protest march against upcoming Mega Projects in Corlim Village jurisdiction

04/11/2014 …. In a way to stop mega housing projects in corlim village, Villagers of corlim on Sunday held a protest march against the upcoming Mega Projects in Corlim Village jurisdiction.

The protest was held in connection with the upcoming mega housing project in Calwaddo, Corlim which is currently under and also against all other large projects completed in the Village jurisdiction.

It may be noted that the concerned housing project was earlier issued a stop order by Town & Country Planning after visit of our Chief Minister due to the villagers agitations in March 2013 but of late seeing the commencement of the project work the villagers sought under RTI the documents from TCP were shocked to know that the concerned TCP department had revoked the Stop Work Order with effect from June 2014 and given a go ahead to start the work again

The protest which started from the Grounds of St. Joao Facundo Church of Corlim made its way through the corlim village shouting slogans against the concerned government departments and village panchayats for allowing mega projects to come up in village area

Speaking on the occasion social activist Baptist Pereira highlighted the need of identifying a buffer zone in each & every village of Goa to keep such housing projects out of this zone by the Government to protect the village ambiance, culture and Goan Identity.

Mr Pereira said that he was surprised to see the way some of the government departments were acting in a different way which tried to benefit the concerned builder in the village

Parish priest of st joao facundo church fr Assis Dourado said that the mushrooming of other building complexes in Corlim village would consume water, generate vast amounts garbage and lead to frequent power shortages. Which could affect all inhabitants in the area.

 

overwhelming response received for the construction of an airport at mopa at its pre application conference says civil aviation director dr suresh shanbhogue

3/11/2014 … Director of civil aviation dr suresh shanbhogue has said that they have received an overwhelming response for the construction of an airport at mopa at its pre application conference which was held on Monday evening

The meeting took place at the secretariat at porvorim where in chief minister Manohar parrikar along with state government officials as well as officials of central government were a part of it
Addressing media persons Director of civil aviation dr suresh shanbhogue said that they were moving as per their schedule dates and Monday was the day for pre application conference where in 11 out of 15 companies had attended the pre bid conference

dr shanbhogue further said that there were four to five international companies who had bidded for the project

Addressing media persons at his residence at altinho chief minister Manohar parrikar said that along with the dual citizenship issue the environment ministry at the centre had cleared the 1 km buffer zone proposal in respect with the existing state mines

Parrikar said that he had also met the civil aviation minister and had asked for additional parking space for planes at the dabolim airport

Parrikar also stated that the IIT would start from the next academic year at a temporary place at a new building put up for pednem college till the institute had its fully campus ready

Taking stock of the arrangements for the upcoming exposition of Saint Francis Xavier’s relics, the chief minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday stated that the road where the pilgrims would exit after the veneration at Se Cathedral church would be kept completely free from stalls and encroachments at the upcoming exposition at old goa.

Chief minister Manohar Parrikar along with other government officers on Saturday had paid a visit at old goa taking a stock over the preparations for the upcoming exposition of the relics of st francis Xavier at old goa which is schedule to begin from 15th of November this month

Addressing media persons in Old Goa, chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that that the exit route for pilgrims from the st cathedral church connected towards old goa-diwar ferry route via Gandhi circle would be keep free from any encroachments to be kept open specially for emergency services such as the police, ambulance and fire tenders thus allowing stalls only in one side.

The chief minister warned that if any individuals are found openly consuming alcohol during the exposition time in and around old goa would be prosecuted and also maintained that from the 30th of November to the 3rd of December liquor shops would be open from 4pm in the evening while on other days bars would be allowed to open after 12 afternoon.

Chief Minister also clarified that illegal structures in old goa had been demolished to clear the area of congestion.

Addressing media persons on Friday gpcc president luizinho faleiro said that the party executive committee members had debated the amendments to the tenancy act and had passed a resolution to asked the state government to withdraw the act as soon as possible

Luizinho said that members also felt that at the moment there was no need for the airport at mopa to come up and that the present airport at dabolim should be upgraded and improved

north goa collector orders demolition drive in and around old goa area

30/10/29014 …. Following the orders from the north goa collector, tiswaddi deputy collector naveen s.l. along with tiswaddi mamlatdar madhu narvekar and a large number of police force on Thursday morning carried out a demolition drive in and around old goa area …

The demolition drive was carried out close the vicinity of old goa churches ahead of the upcoming old goa exposition of the relics of st francis xavier especially along the old goa-diwar ferry road near panjim highway, old goa carambolim road and near gandhi circle

In Thursdays drive the demolition squad demolished more than forty nine gaddas being placed along the pathways in and around old goa and also demolished extension of some of the existing structures connected to the existing shops and houses in old goa which had come on the roads ….

Speaking to media reporters one of the gadda owner condemned the state government action for not intimation them before the demolition drive could take place
