DM NORTH EXTENDS LIQUOR BAN IN SURLA

Panaji, August  21, 2018 … The  District Magistrate, North has  further extended for  prohibiting all the liquor bars, shops Pubs, Clubs, Provision Stores or any Establishment serving or selling liquor or alcoholic beverages in retails or packed bottles in village of Surla, within the Thane Dongurli Village Panchayat of Sattari Taluka in North Goa.

Selling Liquor and all types of alcoholic beverages extended for  a period of 30 days from August 19, 2018 onwards.

YUVA’s 2nd All Goa Drawing Competition

Panaji :: 20th November ::: YUVA is organizing its 2nd All Goa Drawing Competition on 2nd December, 2018 from 9am to 12 noon, on the occasion of Children’s Day in Shree Mahalaxmi Temple, Panaji to imbibe environmental values through artistic activities.

The competition is free and pre-registration is must. Reporting time is 9am-9:30am. Drawing sheet will be provided. Painting material has to be brought by participants. The groups for the competition are as follows:

Goa Vintage Car & Bike Festival 2018:

Panaji 16th April 2018 ::: Goa Tourism’s Vintage Bike and Car festival is ready to hit the streets  of Panjim  on 29th April  2018  at the INOX Courtyard from 10.00 a.m. onwards.

Various vintage bike and car owners, users, collectors and fans  will parade along with  their prized possessions around the capital city of Panjim.

 

 

     The vintage bike and car rally will route from INOX courtyard  to  Miramar Circle and  further proceed to Divja circle and head back to  INOX Courtyard  where they will be  on display  till 6.00 pm. This will be followed by a function  to award prizes and  certificates   for various categories  of vintage  vehicles. Some  of  the categories  will include the oldest automobile, most appealing and  the rarest etc.

A fashion show and various other entertainment programmes would be lined-up in the evening to engage the audience and make this event a memorable one.

STATE LEVEL CRIB COMPETITION DURING CHRISTMAS

Panaji: November 16, 2018 … The State level Crib Competition has organized by Directorate of Art and Culture from December 26 to 31, 2018 in Goa.

The competition will be held in two categories, Institutions/Group Cribs made by institutions, clubs, parishes or by a group of people and Individuals/Household Cribs made at a house or beside the house by an individual or within a family.

The winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes along with the certificate. The prizes for Institution/Group Category are as follows: 1st Prize- Rs. 25,000/-, 2nd Prize- Rs.20,000/-, 3rd Prize- Rs. 15,000/- and Five Consolation Prizes of Rs. 7,000/- each. For Individuals/Household Category, the prizes are as follows: 1st Prize- Rs. 15,000/-, 2nd Prize- Rs.10,000/-, 3rd Prize- Rs. 7,500/- and Five Consolation Prizes of Rs. 5000/- each.

The interested may collect the application forms from November 22, 2018 from the office of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji, Ravindra Bhavan-Margao, Fatorda, Ravindra Bhavan-Curchorem, Curchorem, Ravindra Bhavan, Baina-Vasco, and submit the duly filled forms on or before December 11, 2018 at the above mentioned offices during working hours. Chief Minister launched IGNITE-EDC Innovation hub at EDC House, Panaji,

     Panaji : July 17, 2018  …  The Economic Development Corporation’s (EDC) Start-Up Incubator and Co-Working space ‘Ignite-EDC Innovation Hub’ was inaugurated on monday.

While speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar said that this was one of the important aspects of the Government’s program for employment. Shri Parrikar spoke of the plans to create more jobs for Goans.

 Minister for Information and Technology, Shri Rohan Khaunte launched the website www.edcignite.com 

Shri Khaunte said that the Government was keen on making Goa an IT and knowledge hub.

Chairperson of EDC Limited and former MLA, Shri Sidharth Kuncalienker spoke of the creation of jobs through Start-ups. Shigmotsav Parade held in Panaji

Panaji: 10th March 2018::: The 2018 annual Shigmotsav parade in Panaji was a mix of traditional costumes, traditional art forms, larger-than-life-floats, loud music and flashy colours.

After the successful Carnival parade, the Panaji Shigmotsav float parade was held on the new route from the Science Centre, Miramar, to the Harley Davidson showroom so as to ensure smooth traffic flow in the heart of the city.

Various folk dances were performed by locals like the Ghode-Morni, Talgadi, Rommatamel and Fugdi to the traditional beats of the dhols. huge floats enacted with Hindu mythological scenes were a part of the shigmotsav float parade which were witnessed by thousands of enthusiasts who participated in the float parade from all over the state.

The festivities weren’t just a riot of loud music and colours, it was also a celebration of tradition – from costumes, to music and dance

The Shigmo parades gives all a chance to get a glimpse at the Goan life depicted through elaborate folk performances by men and women dancing tirelessly in processions along with the parade. Traditional folk dances and performances of mythological scenes will be the major highlight of this year’s parades

The two-week long festivities which started from march 3rd would be held across Goa till March 17, 2018 for which Goa Tourism taking efforts to make elaborate preparations for the Shigmo parade during the two-week celebrations at various locations. Tourism Department is confident that the Shigmo festival will be bigger and better this year.

Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar said that lot of efforts were taken by the tourism department to see that all things were put in place for the shigmotsav parades which were held at various parts of the state

Nilesh Cabral, MLA and Chairman of State-owned Goa Tourism Development Corporation Limited said that this year, a spectacular display of Goan ethnicity and mythology will be on show, along with dance performances by artistes in traditional costume from rural areas of the State.

Earlier the Shigmotsav parade had started from Ponda on 3rd of march which was followed by Margao on March 4, Sanguem on March 6, Vasco and Sanquelim on March 7, Valpoi on March 8, Bicholim on March 9 and while shigmotsav float parade was held today in Panjim.

The float parade at Mapusa, Pernem, Canacona, Quepem, Curchorem, Cuncolim and Dharbandora will also be held from March 11 to March 17.

recently Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) Chairman Nilesh Cabral had also convened a meeting along with all other officials and representatives from the government, Goa police, traffic police, and municipal bodies in discussing the preparations for Shigmo in the state.

The government this year spend Rs 1.88 crore on parades at 15 locations across the state between March 3 to March 17.

The government has allocated Rs 6 lakh each as prize money for the Panaji, Margao, Vasco, Mapusa and Ponda float parades and Rs 4 lakh each for the floats in Quepem, Bicholim, Valpoi, Canacona, Curchorem, Cuncolim, Sanguem, Pernem, Sakhali, while for the Dharbandona parade, Rs 3.50 lakh has been allocated

 

ONLINE PAYMENTS OF ELECTRICITY/P.W.D BILLS

Dated: May 3, 2015 …. In an endeavor to deliver e-Payments facilities to the people of Goa, the Electricity Department,PW.D and Goa Electronics Limited, Government of Goa in association of Department of Information Technology, Government of Goa have enabled Online Payments of Electricity Bills through State Portal(https://www.goa.gov.in).

Through this facility, the Electricity and Water Supply consumers will be able to Pay Electricity/Water Bills Online through various e-Payments modes such as Credit Card, Debit Card and Internet Banking of all banks. In order, to facilitate these Online Payments the State is using State Bank of India, Payment Gateway.

The service charges to avail e-Payments by Debit Card, Internet Banking is absorbed by Government, whereas the service charges to avail Online Payments through Credit Card is levied on the consumer.

With this initiative, the consumers will be enabled to Pay Electricity/Water bills at their convenient place and time thereby relieving the Consumers in standing long queues and saving their valuable time.

SELECTION TRIALS OF FOLK DANCE / MUSIC GROUPS FROM GOA FROM JULY 19 TO 21

Panaji, July 03, 2018 …. The Directorate of Art and Culture will hold the selection trials for folk dances, folk music, folk songs on July 19, 20 and 21, 2018 at Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda – Goa. The Interested groups leaders /artists may contact the department to collect the application forms. The forms are available at the office of the Directorate of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji – Goa (Ph. 2404640), Ravindra Bhavan Curchorem, Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, Ravindra Bhavan, Baina Vasco, Ravindra Bhavan, Sankhali and Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, Ponda. The filled forms have to be submitted by July 12, 2018.

          The groups should perform 4 (four)best items of folk dances in traditional costumes along with live music in the selection trial. No entry fees will be charged. No artist is allowed to participate in more than one group.  The selection of folk group will begin from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.  The audiences are allowed to witness the selection trial on the mentioned dates without tickets.

          The Directorate of Art and Culture in order to provide a platform and exposure to the Goan folk artists conducts selection trials for the traditional Goan folk groups from Goa. The trials are conducted for selecting the groups for deputation of various programmes in the State, other states as well as international programmes.
