30/09/2014 …. As a part of Swatch Bharat Nitaal Goem mission programme Minister for water resources dayanand mandrekar along with ccp mayor surendra furtado on Tuesday launched the cleaning of St. Inez Nallah in Panaji.

The initiative was undertaken by the water resources department in association with directorate of fire and emergency services and corporation of the city of panaji

One of the most vibrant living water bodies in Panjim was the Sant Inez creek.

After Liberation the creek seems to have turned into a nullah, choked with garbage and sewage from hutments that were never removed from the banks of the canal.

The residents defecate and empty their garbage into the creek and no council has ever dared to remove the hutments or prevent them from spreading close to the vicinity.

Ccp mayor surendra furtado said that it was every citizen of Panjim city’s duty to keep the st Inez nullah clean and free from unwanted things

Chief Minister Manohar parrikar lays foundation stone for 109 crore ambitious project of the four lane of national highway connection from old goa to Panjim

29/09/2014 … Chief Minister Manohar parrikar on Monday laid the foundation stone for the 109 crore ambitious project of the four lane of national highway connection from old goa to Panjim

Also present on the occasion were pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar, cumbarjua mla pandurang madkaikar, st andre mla Vishnu wagh, pwd officials and other dignitaries

The project is envisaged as a model corridor for the future development of national highways in the state and the proposed work of ribandar bypass including bridge flyover across chimbel creek is for a total length of 9.70 kms connecting old goa to panaji along nh-4a

The cost of the road work is rs 80.93 crore and bridge / flyover is rs 26.84 crore

The agency is m/s m venkata rao infra projects pvt ltd porvorim the road is a six lane road with a dedicated lane for two wheelers and surveillance cameras would be installed at entry point
In the project there would also be a bridge of 200 mts with one span as vehicular underpass for merces-chimbel road and the bridge is a six lane divided carriageway with footpath on both side

The project is expected to be completed by may next year with a target of being inaugurated for goans on the goa state hood day …

Addressing the gathering chief minister Manohar Parrikar said he was happy to see that the project was being taken forward during his tenure as chief minister and mentioned that the fines could be implemented to those vehicle riders who would move from two wheeler lanes in to four wheeler lane once the project was implemented

Pwd minister sudhin dhavlikar stated that the project was the pilot project of national highways which would have separate lanes for motor cycle riders and was one of the biggest project of the state in recent years

Meanwhile st andre mla Vishnu surya wagh said that since the road was passing through the heritage site of old goa which was the area of kadambas there was a need to give importance of heritage and architectural importance to the four lane project road

FC Goa signs on former Arsenal and Brazil international Andre Santos

September 28, 2014 Panaji, Goa: Following soon after the signing of Arsenal midfielder robert Pires, FC Goa have now roped in former Arsenal and Brazil international player Andre Santos.

Santos, who played for Arsenal has signed on for FC Goa and will join the squad shortly.

A youth product of Figueirense in Brazil, Santos participated and helped Brazil capture the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. He joined EPL team Arsenal from Fenerbache in 2011 and eventually moved to Brazil to play with Gremio followed by Flamengo. Andre will be moving from Brazil to Goa soon.

 FC Goa roped in two of Dempo SC’s foreign imports  – Australian Tolgay Ozbey and Haroon Amiri of Afghanistan – for the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League (ISL)

MASTER ONE’S TRADE TO PERFECTION: FURTADO

Panaji; Sept  27, 2014 …. Shri Avertano Furtado, Minister for Labour urged the ITI trainees to master one’s trade to perfection and take the path to progress.  He said that the step to join the ITI at this young age itself was the right move and pointed that there is no replacement for hard work.

 Minister for Labour, Shri Avertano Furtado was speaking at the Induction programme of the fresh trainees of Industrial Training Institute, Margao at a function held at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on friday. 

He informed that the government will keep up to its promise to provide 50,000 jobs and said all efforts to provide employment opportunities are made by providing facilities and the required infrastructure to attract industries.

 Shri Furtado taking the opportunity of the large gathering of youths impressed upon them to use helmets for ones safety and abide by the traffic rules for their own good.

 Shri Digamber Kamat, MLA and Ex-Chief Minister stressed upon the trainees to be part of the country’s progress and development.  He said technical education plays a major role to change one’s own destiny and that of the country.

 Complimenting the trainees for choosing to join ITI, Shri Kamat said, in this technical era, this is the perfect opportunity through which dreams can be realized to be responsible citizens.

RICH TRIBUTES PAID TO DR. CUNHA ON HIS DEATH ANNIVERSARY

Panaji, September 27, 2014 …. Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar led the citizens of Goa in paying rich tributes  to the  Veteran  Freedom Fighter  and  Father of Goa’s  Freedom Struggle Dr. T.B. Cunha  on the occasion of  his Death Anniversary at Azad Maidan on friday.

Shri Parrikar paid  floral tributes  to late  Dr. Cunha  who played  a significant role  in Goa’s Freedom Struggle. Police  Contingent also paid  compliments  to the late  leader by  reversing  their arms  and later  presenting  a armed  salute  as mark of respect. The  buglers  played  the last  post.

PWD Minister  Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar, Principal Secretary Shri Parimal Rai, Chief Secretary Shri B. Vijayan,  DGP Shri  T.N. Mohan, Freedom Fighters and others  also attended  and paid their respects.

CM LAUNCHES ONLINE PAYMENT OF WATER SUPPLY BILLS

Panaji, Sept. 26, 2014

Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar today launched the online payment of water  supply bills in the distinguished presence of Minister for Public Works Department Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavlikar at Minister’s Block, Secretariat, Porvorim.

  The Public works Department in association with Department of Information Technology will make available online payment of water bills through portal              (https://www.goa.gov.in).  With this facility, the water supply consumers will be able to pay water bills online through e-payments modes such as Credit Card, Debit Card, Internet Banking and payment through SBI branch.         The service charges to avail online payment by Debit Card, Internet Banking is absorbed by Government, whereas the service charges to avail online payment through Credit Card is levied on the Consumer, according to PWD authority.

          Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar  said that  the Government is endeavouring to deliver e-payments facilities for all Government payments including  online payment of electricity bills in a phased manner for the benefit of the people in the state.

           Shri Parrikar said, with the online facilities, the consumers will  be able to make payments like water supply bills at his convenient place thereby providing relief to them.

           Speaking further the Chief Minister said that all efforts will be made to make Goa  garbage free by December 2015.  He  appealed to the people of Goa  to participate in ‘Swach Bharat Nital  Goem’ programme which has started from September 25, 2014 and will continue till October 23, 2014. He also urged the people to dispose their day-to-day garbage  in a proper manner.

         PWD Minister  Shri  Ramkrishna Dhavlikar said that online payment of water supply bills facility will be extended to entire South Goa consumers and North Goa  will be covered within two months. He said,  this online payment facility will be made available  to all water supply consumers  within one year.

           The function was attended by Shri. D.J.S. Borkar, Principal Chief Engineer, PWD, Shri. Nilesh Phaldessai, Director of Information Technology and other Senior officers.

CM LAUNCHES SWACH BHARAT NITAL GOEM PROGRAMME

September 25, 2014  …. Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar today launched the Swach Bharat Nital Goem programme in the city today.

The Chief Minister who launched the cleanliness drive as part of the Swach Bharat Nital Goem programme appealed to the people including the Government employees to join this national mission in making Goa clean and garbage free.

Under the programme entire areas of Junta House were cleaned in which the Chief Minister also participated alongwith others.

Swach Bharat Nital Goem programme has kick-started in various parts of the State today. The month-long programme will continue up to October 23 which is aimed at making Goa garbage-free by December 19, 2014.

           Chief Minister said the Government will take the campaign seriously to make Goa clean and Garbage free before the target date.  He instructed the concerned officials to provide bins in every Department for collecting garbage from office premises and further advised to avoid plastic usage in the office.

Shri Parrikar also directed the Director of Transport to inspect and prepare a statement of all the dumped vehicles in Departmental area and tow them to police parade ground. He said the vehicles will be auctioned or disposed as scrape after following codal formalities. 

Commissioner of CCP, Shri Sanjit Rodrigues, and other Officers were present on the occasion.

LAUNCH OF ONLINE PAYMENTS OF WATER BILLS

Currently, the Online Payments of Water Bills will be extended to south Goa Consumers and within 2 months it will be extended to North Goa in Phased manner.   

LOC APPOINTS TOURNAMENT & PROJECT DIRECTOR OF 2017 FIFA U-17 WC

25/09/2014 /….. The LOC of the U17 FIFA World Cup 2017 confirmed the appointment of Mr. Javier Ceppi as Tournament Director and Mr. Joy Bhattacharjya as the Project Director for the Mega Event slated to be held in October 2017 in India.

 

The appointment process was concluded after an interview panel comprising of Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF; Mr. Windsor John, Deputy General Secretary AFC; Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, FIFA Development Officer and Mr. Subrata Dutta, AIFF Executive Committee Member, also the Senior Vice President, AIFF; had interviewed the Candidates in late August, 2014 at Football House.

 

The short listed Candidates were then interviewed by Mr. Praful Patel, President, AIFF before the appointments were finalised.

 

Mr. Kushal Das, General Secretary of AIFF stated: “We are extremely pleased with the appointments as both Javier and Joy bring to the table a great amount of experience and expertise.”

 

He added: “Javier was involved in the U-17 World Cup in UAE in 2013 and is also a Director of the U-17 World Cup which will be held in Chile in 2015 and comes with a great deal of knowledge on how FIFA U-17 World Cups are conducted.”

 

“Furthermore, Joy has very good experience of Media activations and is well known for his creativity and knowledge of managing Events and Production in India. We all felt that both of them complement each other perfectly in delivering a World Class Event as well as creating the youth activation for the U-17 FIFA World Cup which is so necessary to change the face of Indian Football.”

 

The LOC of the U-17 FIFA World Cup 2017 will be based at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi and both Javier and Joy will take up their responsibilities from November 1, 2014 onwards.
