Panaji ; Aug 25, 2014 … Pernem, Mamlatdar Office has invited application from interested parties residing in the locality of Casarvarne Village Panchayat Viz, Co-operative Societies of educated unemployed, Registered Co-operative Societies, Educated unemployed , Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribes, Freedom Fighters, Physically handicapped and other having spacious premises for handaling and storing P.D.S. and non P.D.S. commodities and should be financial sound with reasonable business to run a Fair Price Shop No. 14 at Casarvarne, Pernem.

In case of Co-operative societies of educated unemployed are necessarily required to be educated unemployed and should be on the live register of  Employment Exchange for two years and they should be within the age limit of 18 to 35 years of each members.

Educated unemployed should have passed S.S.C.E through any recognized school in Goa State and should be on the live register of the Employment Exchange at least for two years and should be within the age limit of 18 to 35 years.

Besides, he should be completely free from encumbrance of studies. No member of family of the applicant should have authorization  to run the Fair Price Shop in the Casarvarne Village of Pernem Taluka. 

The application should reach the Office of the Mamlatdar of Pernem, Taluka, on or before September 30, 2014. 

CM LAUNCHES NEW PATROL VESSEL

Panaji ; Aug 24, 2014 …. Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar launched New Patrol Vessel “AVEMARIA-14”   at the Fisheries Jetty Panaji  and thereafter  inaugurated  a Modern Control Room at Fisheries Department, today in  the distinguished presence of  Minister for Fisheries,  Shri Avertano Furtado and MLA Shri Jose Luis Carlos Almeida.

The function was organized by Directorate of Fisheries, Government of Goa.   

Director of Fisheries, Dr. (Smt.) Shamila Monteiro was also present on the occasion.

          The new 15 meter length Patrol Boat, would be able to cover more than 40 nautical miles offshore of Goan waters at the speed of 30 knots. This new vessel is installed with various and latest electronic equipment such as marine radar, VHS, radio communication instruments, etc. It is hoped that with this new fisheries patrol boat, the monitoring, control and surveillance of the Goan waters would be more efficient and effective to ensure the sustainability of the fisheries resources. 

          Expressing happiness the Chief Minister said that the Department of Fisheries is committed to provide better infrastructure to the fishing industry in order to improve the socio-economic conditions of the fishermen, increase the fish production in the state on scientific basis and explore different aspects of fisheries.

The control room is equipped with a wireless communication facility, which enables the Department to broadcast weather conditions and tides at sea and warn fishermen venturing into rough seas. Therese broadcasts will be made every hour and the fishermen will be advised to tune in to weather channels for updates. The control room will also be provided with a radar and AIS receiver which will enable the control room to recognize friendly fishing vessels within its range.

          The Chief Minister along with Fisheries Minister and others were taken around in the new vessel to have a firsthand feel of the same.

EDUCATION DEPARTMENT DISTRIBUTES NOTE BOOKS , RAIN-COATS TO STUDENTS

August 25, 2014 … The Education Department has very successfully distributed 100 page and 200 page notebook sets to 52,336 students from government and government aided primary schools studying in II, III and IV standard in the State for the current academic year.

The highest number of students who benefitted under this scheme are from Salcete where altogether 11,011 students benefitted while the least beneficiaries were from the new formed Dharbandora taluka where 1,085 students benefitted.

Bardez taluka where 9,142 students benefitted ranked second amongst the talukas. Note books distributed to students in other talukas are: Pernem – 2,324, Sattari – 2,470, Bicholim – 3,745, Canacona – 1,863, Quepem – 3,720, Mormugao – 4,522, Tiswadi – 5,588, Ponda – 5,451 and Sanguem – 1,451.

As far as raincoat is concerned, the department distributed 12,090 raincoats to students of I & II standard students of government primary schools in the State.

The highest number of raincoats numbering 1,785 was distributed in Ponda taluka followed by Salcete taluka where 1,433 raincoats were distributed and Bicholim taluka where 1,336 raincoats were distributed.

Raincoats distributed in other talukas were as follows: Pernem – 756, Sattari – 1,268, Bardez – 1,036, Canacona – 705, Quepem – 797, Mormugao – 819, Tiswadi – 844, Sanguem – 696 and Dharbandora – 615.

EMINENT GOANS DAY CELEBRATED SHRIPAD ADVISES STUDENTS TO MOULD INTO BETTER CITIZENS

Panaji, August 23, 2014Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Shri Shripad Naik has advised the student community to draw inspiration from   great  eminent Goans’ personalities like  Dr. Elgar Stephan de Sa  a senior scientist so that they can mould themselves into better citizens of tomorrow and  contribute for the welfare of the state.

 Shri Naik was speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion of Eminent Goan Day celebrations at a function organized by Goa Cultural and  Social Centre in collaboration with Convent of Jesus and Mary Sarvajanik High School at Carambolim in Tiswadi, today.

  The Eminent Goan personalities Dr Elgar Stephan de Sa and Shri. Dharma Chodankar were felicitated at the hands of  Union Minister on the occasion.

            Speaking further Shri Naik told the students to strive hard in their studies to achieve excellence in  education to face  new challenges.  He complimented the Goa Cultural and Social Centre for its activities which  will help to develop a well cultured Goan  society.

 Dr. Elgar Stephan de Sa said that responsibility lies on the younger generation to save Goa for posterity and   told the students to pursue higher studies in the field of Science and Engineering so that they can  channelize their energies  towards a better Goa and a better India of the future.

Shri. Dharma Chodankar, former MLA said that besides their studies within the classroom of the school the student community should participate in extra-curricular activities to build up their  personalities and develop better leadership.

 On the occasion  Mast. Kaksham Kalidas Naik,  the first ranker student who secured highest marks in  Konkani subject in SSC and  Miss Diksha Naik and Miss Laxmi Mangaldas  Prabhu in  HSSC examination in the academic year 2013-14 were honoured.  Meritorious  students from Cumbharjua area  were also honoured on the occasion.

 Shri Shripad Naik and other dignatories offered floral tributes to portraits of late Dr. Joseph Barros, late Rev.  Fr. Mario de Santa Rita Vaz  and late Madhusudan P. Shirodkar on the occasion.

 Shri Milagres Fernandes, President of Goa Cultural and Social Centre welcomed the gathering while Shri Francisco A. de Noronha, General Secretary proposed the vote of thanks.  Ms. Maria Gonsalves compered the function.

PROVISIONAL RESULTS OF THE 6TH ECONOMIC CENSUS RELEASED

24/08/2014 …. The provisional results of the 6th Economic Census brought out by the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation were released by Shri Anand Sherkhane, Director, DPSE a State level function organized by the Directorate of Planning, Statistics and Evaluation held at Swami Vivekanand Hall, Panaji recently 

         Speaking on the occasion Shri Sherkhane appreciated the efforts of the 170 statistical personnel who dedicatedly worked for the Census and said that hard work is the key to success which takes to the pinnacles of glory. He therefore impressed upon the staff to work hard to achieve results. He also appealed to the staff of the Common Statistical Cadre to maintain the same pace and zeal in carrying out all other statistical activities.

Dr. Prabir Kumar Rath Professor of Geography, Government College Khandola in his address, guided the statistical personnel and congratulated the Directorate for bringing out the provisional results in a record time. He particularly lauded the contribution of Shri Vijay B. Saxena, Joint Director for efficient and smooth handling of even toughest statistical assignments and whose efforts are yielding the results. He said that scrutiny and compilation of around 3,46,000 listed records and around 97,000 establishments and bringing out the report in 2 month’s time by the Department is a commendable job.

Shri Rajesh Veluskar, Smt. Nirupa Chari and Shri Milind Nagvekar, statistical personnel of Common Statistical Cadre of DPSE and others were honoured for the best performance in the conduct of 6th Economic Census by Shri Sherkhane on the occasion.

ESG TO HOST ISRAELI FILM FESTIVAL FROM AUG. 23

August 23, 2014 … Entertainment society of Goa is hosting Israeli Film Festival in Goa in collaboration with the Consulate General of Israel Mumbai from August 23rd to 24th August 2014. This event will showcase five Israeli renowned films namely Footnote,  Meduzot ( Jelly Fish ), Broken Wings, The matchmaker and Bonjour Monsieur Shlomi.

 The Consulate General of Israel Mumbai will also host Indo-Israeli Art Exhibition on the subject ‘Wings of Shakti’. The Entry for both the events will be Free of cost on first come first basis.

 The Chief Guest for the Opening Function on 23rd August 2014 will be Shri. Damodar (Damu) Naik, Chairman of the Governing Body of the ESG and Shri. Sharmad Pai Raiturcar will be the Guest of Honour.

PC-PNDT ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING HELD

Panaji, August 23, 2014 … The PC-PNDT Advisory Committee discussed about the proposals received from various Clinics for setting up of USG machines, renewal of licenses and related other issues at the meeting held under the chairmanship of  Shri Arvind V. Bugde, Additional  Collector  in the Conference Hall, Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, Collectorate, South Goa, Margao, recently.

During the course of discussion at the meeting, the Committee  decided to send Checklist to all the Clinics/Hospitals in South Goa District to monitor ultrasound clinics to be used during the inspection of the Clinics/Hospitals registered under PC-PNDT Act in South Goa District. The meeting also decided to inspect every ultrasonography clinics every 90 days as per the PC-PNDT Act and in order to carry out the inspection it is decided to have Sub-District Committee obtaining approval from Government involving one Medical Officer/Medical Incharge of Urban Health Centre, Primary Health Centres from all the talukas of South Goa besides one representative from NGO for each taluka which can help to share the workload of inspections in the South Goa District. The meeting also decided to analyze the reports of MTP along with the Form “F”.

The Advisory Committee urged the USG Clinics to submit Form ‘F” regularly failing which stern action will be initiated against them as per the provision of PC-PNDT act. The Directorate of Health Services has made available  online  facilities  for   Form ‘F’ submission.

The meeting  was attended by Dr. A. Siona Gomes, Chairperson  of Advisory Committee,  Dr. Ira Almeida, Vice-Chairperson, Dr. Minaxi Panandikar, Member Secretary,   and  Shri Shanto G. Naik, Information Assistant, Information and Publicity Department.

Commenting over the mining issues concerning to the state of goa Sahgal said that there was a need from the government side to put a ban of ten years on those who had done illegal mining and the government had to try and restore legal mining sites of the state

Sahgal also stated that if no mining sites were restored in to the state of goa as soon as possible then the first attack that could take place due to environment destruction was of water sources being destroyed due to which lot of health issues would come up in goa

23/08/2014 ….. Stating that the need of mhadei tiger reserve was the only answer for the mhadei river issue Noted environmentalist rajendra kerkar has said that his ngo had already informed the state chief minister asking for help over the issue of filing a petition before the supreme court ….

It may be noted that chief minister Manohar parrikar had recently informed the house that his government along with his friends would fund any NGO or activist to file a petition on the Mhadei issue

Parrikar had stated that he was ready to personally fund and would also get his friends to pitch in towards the expenses incurred by any NGO or activist who is ready to file a petition on the Mhadei issue before the Supreme Court or the Green Tribunal.

Speaking to goanreporter mr kerkar said that the formation of mhadei tiger reserve was the only answer to the mhadei issue which could solve the mhadei issue very easily and his ngo had already approached the government asking for a support long back

Meanwhile social activist advocate aires rodrigues strongly condemned Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar decision along with his friends to fund any NGO or activist to file a petition on the Mhadei issue.
