Panaji, June 22, 2018 … The Applications are invited for admission to Class VIII from boys only in the Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun (UK) for July 2018 term which will be conducted at selected centres on December 1 and December 2, 2018.
The Rashtriya Indian Military College is an Inter-Services institution and a category ‘A’ establishment of the Ministry of Defence College was established in 1922 with the primary aim of preparing the boys for entry into Defence Services and to provide quality education to young boys.

AWARENESS RUN ON JUNE 24
Panaji, June 21, 2018 .. Anti-Narcotic Cell of Goa Police has organized 10kms awareness run on June 26, 2018 as ‘The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’ to create awareness amongst youth, students and general public regarding the menace of drugs.
The marathon organized on June 24, 2018 starting from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taleigao Plateau to Ferry Point, Panaji under the tittle ‘Run Against Narcotic Drugs’. The flag of programme will be held at 07.00 a.m sharp.
The route for the run is from Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Taligao Plateau – Oitem Junction- Dona Paula Circle- Goa Science Centre- Miramar Circle- Campal- Panaji Market- Ferry Point (Finish Point). The male and female athletes above the age group of sixteen are allowed to participate in the event.
The first 1000 early bird, participating athletes, will be awarded with a free T-shirt. The first three winners of run, in male and female category will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs 10,000/-, Rs 6,000/- and Rs 4,000/-respectively so also attractive trophies and certificates will be given to the winners.

APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR BRAVERY AWARD
Panaji, June 20, 2018 … The Indian Council for Child Welfare, New Delhi has instituted the ‘National Award for Bravery of Children (2018)’ to give due recognition to the children who perform acts of bravery with a view to inspire other children to follow their example. The award is conferred on children for their act of spontaneous selfless service in the face of risk to life or threat of physical injury and or an act of courage and daring against a social evil/crime.
To apply for this award The prescribed form is to be accompanied by a write-up of about 250 words giving the details of the deed performed by the applicant along with Proof of date of birth, Newspaper/Magazine clippings and /or the first information report (FIR) or Police Diary field with the police station and an account of the incident as well as supporting documents endorsed by listed by two competent authorities.
The application must be recommended by a Principal/Headmaster of the school, Head of Panchayat/Zila parishad, General Secretary or President of State Council for Child Welfare, Collector /DM/Govt. Official of equivalent rank , Supt. of Police of the area or police official of higher rank any two of the above
The child awardee should not be below 6 years and above 18 years of age on the date of the incident and incidents should be occurred between July 01, 2017 and June 30 2018 will be considered for the 2018 awards.
The award consists of a medal, a certificate and cash award. The Awardees will also receive various gifts from philanthropic organizations. The awards are in 4 categories First and Highest Award is Bharat Award, Second Category are two award, Third Category are three award and General are 19 Awards.

MONSOON SAFETY AWARENESS
Panaji: june 18, 2018 Deputy Superintendent of Police, Traffic (HQ) has ordered all motorists to take following Do’s and Don’t precautions on the roads
while driving during the monsoon Do’s such as Regularly check vehicles wipers, head lights, tail lights, brake lights, side indicators and brakes to ensure that they are functional, while checking special emphasis be given on the condition of tyres and should ensure that the tyres are having full and proper treads,
to ensure that mud flaps are fitted to prevent water and mud from splashing on other motorists risking the lives of others, also two wheeler riders and cyclists should wear bright coloured rain wear/rain coat for better visibility to other motorists, similarly always wear helmets with straps securely fastened. The pillion rider should also wear helmet, avoid driving fast in water logged areas, to drive within the speed limit, maintain distance from other vehicles and apply brakes gently to avoid skidding of the vehicle.
Further Don’t’s are as follows do not use an umbrella while riding a two wheeler, do not overtake when it is raining and don’t splash water at pedestrians while driving on water logged roads. Public are also requested to strictly follow the above safety precautions and also advised to obey traffic laws and co-operate with Traffic Police.

NO INSTANCES OF CHARGING CAPITATION FEES IN GOA
Panaji, June 16, 2018 … A news item ‘Abolish Capitation fees in Educational Institutions` has appeared in a section of press. In this regards the Directorate of Technical Education clarified that there have been no instances of charging Capitation fees by Professional Colleges in the State of Goa.
Capitation fees being charged by Professional colleges constitutes is an illegal practice, inviting penal action, as held in various Supreme Court judgment, as also provisions of the statutory authority for Technical Education in India viz. AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
Admissions to Professional colleges (Engineering ) in the State of Goa are carried out under the Centralized admission process of Directorate of Technical Education, purely on merit, based on Goa Common Entrance Test Scores (GCET).
Directorate of Technical Education further stated that, 210 seats referred to in the news item pertain to Management Quota of 25% of the total seats in four Private Engineering Colleges in the State, which have been duly approved by the Government, after obtaining approval from Law Department.
Admission to these Management Quota seats are to be carried out by these Private Institutions, subject to the conditions, specified by Admissions to be carried out on merit, determined by Common Entrance Test. Fees to be charged as recommended by State Fee Committee, constituted by the Government. All Rules and Regulations of Statutory regulatory authority viz. AICTE to be adhered to which are specified by Hon. Supreme Court in P.A. Inamdar v/s. State of Maharashtra & T.M.A Pai v/s. State of Karnataka.
In compliance with the mandate of Hon. Supreme Court Judgments, and regulations of AICTE, State Government has constituted State Fee Fixation Committee, since 2004, headed by Retd. High Court judge, the fee recommendation of this Committee has been approved by the Government and implementation in these Private Professional College in the State.
Thus, there is no basis in the news item, which alleges that Capitation fees are charged in Private Professional Colleges and admissions are not carried out on the basis of merit.
Any instance of charging Capitation fee for admission to Private Professional Colleges can be reported to statutory regulatory authorities
SIX MONTHS FISHERIES TRAINING COURSE
Panaji, June 15, 2018 …. The Directorate of Fisheries have invited applications for six months Fisheries Training Course starting from July 2, 2018 at Fishermen Training Centre, Ela Dhauji, Old Goa.
The course is meant for training in fishing craft and gear fundamentals of navigations and seamanship, maintenance and operation of marine Diesel Engine, Weaving and mending of modern nets, Sea food value addition marketing, Aquaculture, Aquarium making and swimming.
Candidates who have passed minimum VIIIth std between 18 to 35 years of age are eligible for admission. Preference will be given to scheduled caste and tribes candidates as well as youths from fishing community having experience at sea.
The candidates admitted to the course will be paid stipends of Rs.1000/- p.m. Hostel accommodation is also provided to the candidates coming from the distant places at reasonable rents, Rs. 100/- per day to the trainees is also paid as a D.A during fishing trips.
