Dawson of United Club of Unjirim missed two chances to score in the 3rd and 6th minutes. Myson of Novovaddo netted the first goal of the match with a placement shot in the 10th minute. Man of the Match was awarded to Dawson Sardinha of United Club of Unjirim at the hands of Aden Peixoto.

Sporting Club Davorlim dominated the entire match and defeated St Anthony’s Sports Club Assolda 4-1 to become champions of the 19th Super Soccer Inter-village Football Tournament organized by the United Club of Benaulim, held at St John de Baptista football ground, Benaulim, on Sunday. Davorlim took the lead in the 15th minute through an own goal by Samuel Peixoto of Assolda while attempting to clear a shot from Milton Colaco. Assolda had a chance to equalize soon after, but Mark Revlon Fernandes missed. Royston Colaco doubled the lead in the 25th minute, and Davorlim continued their dominance in the second half with goals from Prince Figueredo and M. Ajay Raj in the 50th minute. Assolda managed a consolation goal through Richard Fernandes towards the end of the match. Chief Guest Capt. Venzy Viegas, MLA of Benaulim, presented the prizes in the presence of Joseph Pinto (ZP Benaulim), Anthony Pango (GFA Vice President), Franky Fernandes, Andrew Ferrao, Anthony Leo Fernandes, Fr. Goan Reporter: Navelim Sporting Club Advance to Quarter-Finals of 52nd Custodio Memorial Tournament with 2-1 Win Over Shiroda YC

Navelim Sporting Club entered the quarter-finals of the 52nd Custodio Memorial Football Tournament with a well-earned 2-1 victory over Shiroda Youth Club. The match, organised by Raia Sporting Club, was held at the Panchayat ground in Raia on Saturday in front of an enthusiastic crowd of over 1,000 spectators. Navelim got off to a strong start, scoring twice within the first eight minutes. Rovan Pereira’s tricky footwork set up Noah Luis for the opening goal in the 5th minute, followed by a clinical finish from Rehan Sayed in the 8th. Shiroda’s Elias Colaco came close to pulling one back but missed narrowly, and Navelim went into half-time with a 2-0 lead. Despite increased pressure from Shiroda in the second half, Navelim’s defense remained solid. Royston Vaz managed to reduce the deficit with a goal in the 75th minute. In stoppage time, Navelim missed a one-on-one opportunity while Royston’s powerful free kick for Shiroda struck the post and was safely collected by the goalkeeper before referee Milagres Noronha blew the final whistle. The tournament, one of the oldest in the region, was officially inaugurated by Jacinta Dias, Sarpanch of VP Raia, in the presence of Luis C. Quadros, President of Raia Sporting Club, other dignitaries, and a large gathering of football fans. The ‘Man of the Match’ award was presented to Rehan Sayed of Navelim Sporting Club.

Both teams played attacking football and created equal chances but failed to break the deadlock in regulation time. The match was eventually decided through a penalty shootout. In the decisive tiebreaker, Joeban, Ryan, and Nathan successfully converted for Jolly Boys, while Madel SC failed to find the net. Saish Korgaonkar of Madel Sports Club was named Man of the Match and was awarded by Standly Fernandes, a member of Agxem Sports Club.

Paldem Sports Club defeated Fondegal Youth Club by a solitary goal to enter the quarterfinals of the 2nd Caniza Peixoto Memorial 9-a-side Football Tournament, organized by Black Arrow Boys Agxem Sports Club and played at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Thursday. The match started at a fast pace with both teams showing determination and skill in front of a large crowd. Both sides had equal opportunities to score, but it was Paldem Sports Club’s Finley who netted a powerful 30-yard strike in the 10th minute, giving no chance to the Fondegal goalkeeper. At the lemon break, Paldem held a 1–0 lead. In the second session, Fondegal Youth Club created many chances through Melwin, Presley Mascarenhas, and Reuben Fernandes in the 35th, 45th, and 58th minutes but failed to find the equaliser, as Paldem’s defence—Diago, Ansley, and Peter—remained firm and denied all attempts till the end of regular time.

PY Nuvem secured a place in the semifinals of the 19th Super Soccer International Football Tournament with a narrow 1–0 victory over CAC Cansaulim at the St. John de Baptista ground. The tournament is organized by UC Benaulim. Francisco Colaco scored the only goal of the match in the 10th minute, heading in a precise cross from Hudson Dias. PY Nuvem dominated possession throughout the game and created several scoring opportunities but were unable to increase their lead. CAC Cansaulim nearly equalised in the final minutes, but Cidroy D’Souza’s effort went just wide. Francisco Colaco was awarded the Man of the Match, presented by GFA Executive Committee member and Velsao football promoter, Mr. Andrew Ferrao.

Bhatti Sports Club moved into the final after defeating hosts SC Virabhat 4-2 via the tiebreaker in the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025 Interward Football Tournament, organized by Sporting Club Virabhat at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday. SC Virabhat had their first chance to score when Floydon Fernandes’ shot hit the crossbar and went out of play in the 10th minute. Bhatti SC also created chances, but Virabhat defenders did not allow them to score, and the first half ended in a goalless draw. In the second half, Bhatti missed a golden opportunity when Ralf Dias’ shot hit the post and bounced back into play, but Virabhat goalkeeper Johnson Bogot punched it out. The full-time score remained goalless. In the tiebreaker, Bhatti SC won 4-2. Macroy, Tony, Ralf, and Aaron converted for Bhatti, while only Lourdes and Floydon scored for SC Virabhat. Bhatti Sports Club will now meet Agxem Sports Club in the final to be played on Sunday, 22nd June 2025. The first half saw both teams on equal terms, with Davorlim’s Royson Colaco and Velroy Colaco testing the Benaulim defense, while Keegan Rodrigues and Cayden Rodrigues had opportunities for the home side. After the break, SC Davorlim returned with renewed energy and took full control. Striker Alent Colaco netted a brilliant hat-trick and added a fourth goal in the 60th minute. Substitute Neville Mascarenhas sealed the win with a late strike. Alent Colaco was named Man of the Match and received the award from UC Benaulim President Sanford Braganza.

The match began at a brisk pace with PY Nuvem nearly scoring through Francis Colaco and Joywin Costa, while Cuncolim Union came close when Daulat Dessai’s long-range shot hit the post. Nuvem goalkeeper Saltan Dias made a crucial save off a shot by Clifton Fernandes. With the game locked at full time, a tiebreaker was applied, where Leroy Colaco, Alvito Dias, and Shenoy Colaco scored for PY Nuvem, while Ansh Patel was the lone scorer for Cuncolim Union. PY Nuvem’s Alvito Dias was named Man of the Match and received the award from Manoj Kesarkar.
