Goan Reporter: Verna Storms into Quarters with 2-0 Win over Carmona

United Club of Verna advanced to the quarterfinals of the Benaulim Panchayat Football Tournament with a solid 2-0 win over Carmona Sports Club at the St John the Baptist Panchayat Ground, Benaulim. The first half saw an even contest with both teams sharing possession but failing to score. However, Verna came out stronger in the second half and increased the pressure. Their efforts paid off in the 56th minute when Sheldon Pereira scored off a loose ball, and just four minutes later, he struck again with a composed finish to seal the win. Despite a strong defensive effort from Carmona, Verna’s attacking push and Sheldon’s brilliant brace proved decisive in securing their spot in the next round.

Goan Reporter: Curtorim Gymkhana, Reginald Trust Host Summer Camp for Kids; Armando Colaco Felicitated

Curtorim Gymkhana, in association with the Reginald Trust, organised a summer camp for boys and girls aged 5 to 14 years from 16th to 31st May 2025 at the DSYA Ground, Curtorim.

The camp witnessed participation from 120 children in football training, coached by Maria Rebello and Aliston Fernandes.

The event was graced by Curtorim MLA Alex Reginald Lourenco, Dronacharya Awardee Armando Colaco, Arjuna Awardee Brahmanand Sankhwalkar, Curtorim Gymkhana President Arnald Costa, and other dignitaries and club officials.

On the occasion, Armando Colaco was felicitated by the organisers for his contribution to Indian football.

Goan Reporter: Betalbatim Storm Past Hosts St Sebastian Union Club 3–0 in Benaulim Panchayat Cup

In an exciting clash at Dando Ground, Betalbatim Sports Club defeated hosts St Sebastian Union Club 3–0 in the Benaulim Panchayat Cup. Despite a strong start and early dominance in possession by the youthful Benaulim side, the game shifted after their keeper Scott was shown a red card for pulling down a Betalbatim attacker following a defensive error. Gladson Braganza converted the resulting penalty, giving Betalbatim a 1–0 lead at halftime.

Down to ten men, Benaulim attempted a defensive strategy while hoping for an equaliser, but Betalbatim maintained control. Branson Fernandes extended the lead in the 53rd minute, and Dickson sealed the win with a clinical strike seven minutes later. Outstanding performances by Dickson and Alison guided Betalbatim into the next round.

Goan Reporter: Batora United Enter Next Round of Silver Jubilee Cup with 3–0 Win Over Fondegal YC

Batora United secured a convincing 3–0 victory over Fondegal YC to advance to the next round of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025, a 9-a-side interward football tournament organized by Sporting Club of Virabhat at St. Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. Valanko Paes opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Fondegal came close to equalizing, but Gavino Mascarenhas’ shot struck the post. In the second half, Aliynier Fernandes netted twice in the 40th and 45th minutes, sealing the win. Aliynier was awarded Man of the Match by SC Virabhat member Lawry Fernandes.

Goan Reporter: Rebello Pandal Maina Storm Into Finals After Tiebreaker Win Over Daddy’s Boys Guirdolim

Rebello Pandal Maina secured their place in the finals of the 5th All Goa 8-a-side Football Tournament, organized by Davorlim Sports and Cultural Club, by defeating Daddy’s Boys Guirdolim 7-5 via tiebreaker at Laymati Ground, Davorlim on Wednesday. Joywin Carneiro opened the scoring for Rebello, but Alerich equalized for Guirdolim, ending the first half at 1-1. In the second half, Rebello netted twice through Caetano and Joywin (who completed his brace), while Guirdolim fought back with goals from Akram Yadwad and Santan to level it 3-3 at full time. In the tiebreaker, Rebello Pandal converted four penalties, while Daddy’s Boys Guirdolim managed only two. Rebello Pandal Maina will face Our Lady of Fatima SC Baida Chinchinim in the finals on 8th June 2025 at 4:30 PM.

Goan Reporter: Bhatti SC defeats Corjem YC 5-0 to Advance in Silver Jubilee Cup 2025

Bhatti SC moved into the next round of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025 Interward Football Tournament after a dominant 5-0 victory over Corjem YC. The tournament is organized by Sporting Club Virabhat at St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim. Bhatti SC opened the scoring in the 10th minute through Ralf Dias, who found the net after receiving a precise pass from Macroy Peixoto. The lead was quickly extended with two back-to-back goals by Aaron Dias in the 15th and 20th minutes, making it 3-0 by halftime. In the second half, Bhatti SC added two more goals through Shavil Peixoto (40′) and Peter Barreto (45′) to seal a 5-0 win. Aaron Dias of Bhatti SC was named Man of the Match, presented by Lewan Castanha, a player from Mohun Bagan.

Goan Reporter: Sinquerim Sports Club Defeats DBO Fatorda 4–2 in 24th Vagator Soccer Opener

Sinquerim Sports Club emerged victorious with a 4–2 win over DBO Fatorda in the inaugural match of the 24th Vagator Soccer tournament, organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club at the Vagator Football Ground.

Sinquerim’s Saimesh Gaonkar opened the scoring in the 13th minute after an earlier attempt was denied by Fatorda’s keeper Glen Fernandes. Fatorda equalised in the 19th minute through a penalty converted by Velito, but Pratik Tirodkar restored Sinquerim’s lead in the 28th minute. Despite a strong long-range effort by Francis Andrade, Sinquerim held a 2–1 lead at halftime.

In the second half, Tirodkar struck again in the 48th minute to make it 3–1. Richie Vaz pulled one back for Fatorda in the 68th, but a missed chance by Alfred Noronha in the 71st minute proved costly. Substitute Krish Naroji sealed the game with a stoppage-time goal, ending the match 4–2.

Goan Reporter: Snow’s Football Academy beat USC Seraulim 7-0 to Win GFA U-17 State Championship

Dominating the entire match, Snow’s Football Academy of Raia thrashed United Sports Club of Seraulim 7-0 to clinch the U-17 State Championship title organized by the Goa Football Association at the Raia Panchayat Ground on Thursday.

Snow’s FA led 2-0 at halftime. Wayne Colaco and Samuel Colaco each scored a hat-trick, while Shaun Colaco also found the net for Snow’s FA.

Snow’s FA missed several early scoring opportunities, with Messi Rebello failing to convert two clear chances in the 6th and 8th minutes. USC Seraulim’s only dangerous move in the first half came from Soham Fernandes, but he too couldn’t score. Goalkeeper Mohit Tete of USC Seraulim put up a strong performance, denying at least three close attempts by Snow’s FA.

Wayne Colaco opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a header, followed by Samuel Colaco’s goal in the 27th minute. In the second half, Snow’s FA continued their dominance. Wayne scored his second in the 47th minute, and Samuel completed his hat-trick with two quick goals. In injury time, Wayne Colaco sealed the 7-0 victory and his own hat-trick with a final goal.

Goan Reporter: SFX Camarxete beat Cumborda 5–0 to Reach Finals of Fondegal 9-A-Side Tournament

SFX Sports Club Camarxete stormed into the finals of the Fondegal Youth Club 9-A-Side Interward Football Tournament 2025 after a dominating 5–0 win over Cumborda Sports Club at St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Tuesday. The match began with high energy from both sides. Cumborda SC pressed early, but SFX Camarxete’s solid defense held strong. In the 15th minute, Casvino Fernandes scored the opener after a precise cross from Anslem Fernandes, giving SFX a 1–0 lead at halftime. In the second half, SFX Camarxete took full control. Anslem Fernandes doubled the lead in the 35th minute with a stunning strike. At 43 minutes, Velroy Paes assisted Casvino, who dribbled past the keeper for the third goal. Casvino then scored again with a brilliant solo effort to complete his hat-trick and secure a 4–0 lead. The fifth goal sealed the 5–0 victory. Velico Paes of SFX Sports Club Camarxete was named Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.

Dandolem SC moved into the next round of the Silver Jubilee Cup 2025 Interward Football Tournament, organized by Sporting Club Virabhat at St. Alex Church ground, Curtorim, after defeating Madel SC 2–0. Dandolem took the lead in the 15th minute with a goal by Ryan Fernandes. Madel had a chance to equalize in the 20th minute, but Maxwell’s shot was brilliantly saved by Dandolem goalkeeper Vincy Cardozo. In the second half, Irun Hilario scored in the 40th minute to double the lead for Dandolem. Despite Madel’s efforts to fight back, the match ended 2–0 in favour of Dandolem. Ryan Fernandes of Dandolem SC was awarded the Man of the Match by Costancio Castanha, founder member of SC Virabhat.
