It may be noted that the notification published in goa government gazette dated 19/08/2013 had restrained the timings for operation of business up to 9 pm with effect from 1/4/2014
In their memorandum the association stated that due to the notification the traders had gone in to lot of hardships to conduct their business and thus occur of loss to their establishments and considering that goa was the most preferred tourist destination the traders have requested to relax the timing up to 11 pm for which the traders were ready to pay extra license fees to the government …

Speaking to media reporter’s tourism minister dilip parulekar said that he would take up the matter with the state chief minister and then it would be up to the chief minister or with the cabinet to decided on the notification

President of goa liquor trader’s association dattaprasad naik said that due to some anti social elements traders like them were suffering and were going through a thirty percent business loss

In a bit to impart more training at grass-root level in to the game of football dempo sports club and fr agnel high school pilar have agreed to extend another year of agreement of providing match and training kit equipments to all football teams of the fr agnel schools in various inter school tournaments

The extension agreement of another one year was signed between chairman of dempo sports club srinivas dempo and principal of fr agnel college, pillar fr fedrick rodrigues in the presence of headmaster of fr agnel high schools fr Richard crasto

Besides equipments dempo sports club will also make available one youth coach to impart training for the school teams

Addressing media persons at the dempo house in Panjim chairman of dempo sports club srinivas dempo appreciated the support and commitment of the management of the school towards the development of football

Dempo stated that there was a need for every one to take ythe game of football seriously if Indian had to reach to the world cup

Principal of fr agnel college, pillar fr fedrick rodrigues said that they were very thankful to dempo sports club for their partnership in football and hoped that the project would provide necessary professional expertise to the school

Presently the goa football developmental council has over 23 football coaching centers all over goa with more than 4000 goan youth being trained in to the game of football

Speaking to goanreporter chairman of goa football development council dr rufino monteiro said that was a dedicated die hard football guy who only eat, sleep and used to drink football in his day to day life

Dr monteiro said that mr naidu was given a one year contract with gfdc and has been a lower division player in the south African football league

 

GFDC to show recorded coverage of world cup football matches for its GFDC trainnes at its centres

Keeping in mind the upcoming samba of the 2014 football world cup in brazil the goa football development council has decided to organize recorded coverage of world cup football matches to its young budding goan footballer’s trainees and its parents at various gfdc centre in the state …

As world cup football fever starts from 13th of this month, the according to Indian standard would make it bit difficult for the goan buddies to watch their favourite players live in action as matches starts later at night and early morning and just to get the feel of the world cup gfdc would show football world cup matches at its centre during day time and also give the trainees various expects of the games on the concerned day

Speaking to goan reporter chairman of goa football development council dr rufino montiro said since gfdc goal was to make goa as the mecca of indian football gfdc had decided to show recorded football matches at gfdc centre in goa to its trainees after the training session was over

Dr monteiro said along with the recorded matches being shown to its trainees gfdc coaches would also have certain interaction of the football match and point out salient features to the trainees as well as involved the trainees communities

Dr monteiro also stated that showing world cup football matches to young footballers would be a good chance for young goans to learn the real football techniques used by some of the best footballers in the world

 

Vice President of goa football association Elvis Gomes to contest GFA President post

03/06/2014 … As the 4-year term of Goa Football Association Executive Committee headed by Shrinivas Dempo coming to an end present Vice president of goa football association Elvis Gomes has emerged as the front runner to take over the President post

 Even though a government servant Mr gomes has already got the signal to go ahead from the government for the GFA elections for the Executive Body which are scheduled for July 27 next month

 No sooner mr gomes announced his candidature for the gfa topo post the chances of a contest has diminished as mr gomes has a good track record as an efficient administrator in the Government as well as football circles and enjoys a good rapport among goan football clubs and football lovers.

 Speaking to goanreporter vice president of goa football association elvis gomes said he was in the fray for the gfa top post as many clubs were optimistic of him contesting the presidentship post elections of goa football association

Defending champions Dempo Cricket Club secured their second Goa Premier League title

Defending champions Dempo Cricket Club secured their second Goa Premier League title as they outplayed tournament debutants Geno sports club by seven wickets win in the finals of the fifth edition of the Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Goa Cricket Association at the gca grounds at porvorim on Saturday.

The finals saw a jam-packed audience cheering for their respective teams as both the teams which played under the new floodlights for the first time lived up to the expectations of cricket fans …

Geno Sports Club won the toss and elected to field first where in geno managed to score a mere total of 117 runs for the loss of eight wickets.

Captain Swapnil Asnodkar who was named man of the match and the man of the series in the tournament once again led his team from the front as the opener scored an unbeaten 61 as Dempo reached their target with 11 balls to spare.

Chief guest of the prize distribution function and chairman of dempo group of companies srinivas dempo gave away the winner’s trophy along with a cash prize of Rs 8 lakh to dempo cricket club while Geno had to be content with the runners-up trophy with Rs 5 lakh in the presence of guest of honour and owner of Geno Sports Club, Dr Dilip Salgaonkar, MLA Subhash Phaldesai, president of GCA Vinod Phadke, GCA vice-president Dr Shekar Salker, secretary Chetan Desai and other dignitaries.

Dempo Cricket Club and geno sports club win their respective matches at the 5th Goa Professional League T20 cricket tournament

21/03/2014 … With a fine bowling performance Dempo Cricket Club on Thursday defeated Salgaocar Sports Club by six wickets in the third Super League match of 5th Goa Professional League T20 cricket tournament organized by Goa Cricket Association at GCA ground, Porvorim.

 Batting first, Salgaocar could only manage a meager 74 runs. They relied heavily on opener Sagun Kamat to fire but their skipper unfortunately lost his wicket on 22 runs as he was run out by Dempo captain Swapnil Asnodkar.

 However, only Sagun top scored for Salgaocar while Jammu and Kashmir’s Parvez Rasool contributed 13 runs.

 In reply, Dempo chased the target in just 10.4 overs with wicket- keeper Keenan Vaz scoring 32 runs.

 Meanwhile Geno Sports Club defeated Chowgule Warriors by 26 runs to remain in fray for the final spot of 5th Goa Professional League T20 cricket tournament.

In reply, Chowgule never got off to a perfect start as they lost both of their openers in the second over of the match.

20/03/2014 … Dempo Cricket Club defeated Geno Sports Club by 21 runs in the first Super League of fifth Goa Professional League T20 Cricket tournament organized by Goa Cricket Association at GCA ground on Wednesday.

Geno won the toss and elected to field as Dempo set a target of 137 runs. Dempo skipper swapnil asnodkar scored 74 runs with 56 balls and was well supported by his opening partner Ravi Teja, who scored 27 runs.

Debutants Geno were confident after winning all their three league matches but got off a disastrous start as they were five wickets down for 38 runs and finally were bundled out for 112 runs for nine wickets

Meanwhile Ramdayal Punia of Salgaocar Sports Club picked up five wickets to give Salgaocar Sports Club a 26- run victory against chowgule warriors in the second Super League match of 5th Goa Professional League T20 Cricket tournament on Wednesday.

Batting first, Salgaocar skipper and opener Sagun Kamat played an inspirational knock with his 60 runs off 56 balls while he was well supported by his partner Suraj Dongre in the 86- run partnership as their side put up a decent 149 target for their rivals.

The pacer devastated the Chowgule batting line up as he sent Sumiran Amonkar, Asad Pathan, Saurabh Bandekar and Reagan Pinto back to the dressing room at regular intervals as Chowgule struggled and were bundled out for 121 with seven balls to spare.

Dempo Cricket Club earns 70 run victory over salgaocar sports club at GPL T-20 cricket tournament

19/03/2014 … A tremendous bowling effort by Dempo Cricket Club earned the defending champions a 70- run victory over Salgaocar Sports Club at the ongoing 5th Goa Professional League T20 cricket tournament organized by Goa Cricket Association at GCA ground, on Tuesday.

The teams had already qualified for the Super League but a win was essential for both to finish top in Group A.

The highlight of dempo’s victory was an inspiring half century by Saurav Dubey who showed his patience at the crease after the departure of his skipper swapnil asnodkar taking the team to a respectable total of 158 runs.

In reply, Salgaocar got off to a disastrous start as their first four batsmen Sagun Kamat, Suraj Dongre, Sayed Shahabuddin and Parvez Rasool returned to the dressing room on ducks.

Darshan Misal did provide some resistance with his 39 but that was not enough as The Greens could only manage to score 88.

Meanwhile the finals of Goa Premiere League T20 Cricket Tournament will be played on Saturday, March 22, at GCA ground, Porvorim, at 7 p. m. under flood lights.

Briefing press persons, Chaiman of GPL T20 organizing committee Shekhar Salker stated that the boundary limit for the league matches has been increased to 70 yards from the existing 67 yards.
