Mr lobo said that a single road show from a number of world road shows done by the tourism department for promoting goan tourism was costing to the tune of minimum 75 lakhs then why could the tourism department curtail down certain road shows and used the same money for paying electricity bills

Lobo also stated that one should not forget that the goan economy was running on state tourism and therefore there was a need to keep illuminate heritage sites in the state

It may be noted that recently a group of goans calling themselves as children of opinion poll and led by historian prajal sakhardande had asked the state government to Include in Goa’s history books from Class VIII to X, lessons on the Opinion Poll, the role that Dr Jack de Sequeira played in it, and also to erect his statue near the assembly complex in Porvorim.

Dhavlikar said there was a need to develop such touristic sports where in statues of not only dr jack sequiera but also of other goans who tried to save goa from its merger with Maharashtra

Addressing media persons party spokesperson trojano dmello said that such decision was a communal agenda undertaken by the bjp led government only to finances temples but not churches in the state and therefore asked for reverting the decision as soon as possible

Trojano said that it was another type of an attempt by the state bjp led government to put in dark all its omissions and commissions where in most of its minister was involved in corruption

Minister for AYUSH Shripad Naik inaugurates Administrative Block of Primary Health Centre in Corlim village constructed with the support of Sygenta India Limited

17/05/2015 … Administrative Block of Primary Health Centre at Corlim and the extended clinical block of the health centre was recently inaugurated by Central Minister for AYUSH Shri. Shripad Naik in the presence of MLA of Cumbarjua Constituency Pandurang Madkaikar, S R Pandiyan of Sygenta India Limited, Director, of Health Services Dr. Sanjeev Dalvi,and others .

The construction of Administrative Block was carried out under MPLAD funds (North Goa) and the construction of clinical block was sponsored by Syngenta India Ltd. The Central Minister for AYUSH inaugurated the Administrative Block while health minister Shri. Francis D’Souza inaugurated the clinical block.

Addressing the gathering, Shripad Naik, said he would make use of the MPLAD funds for the Development of Local Area by getting done all the necessary constructions and amenities for the society and stated that he would like to promote alternate medicines and preventive measures in the community.

Shri. Pandurang Madkaikar, in his speech said that, he would always be supportive towards the development of the community and appreciated the works of Dr. Kedar Raikar, and said that he would always support the Health Centre in its noble cause.

CM TO INAUGURATE ELETS KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE GOA 2015 ON MAY 22

Panaji: May 15, 2015 … The Government of Goa will be co-hosting ‘Elets Knowledge Exchange Goa 2015’ along with eGov magazine, on May 22 and 23, 2015 at Hotel Marriott, Miramar-Goa.  The conference ‘Elets Knowledge Exchange Goa 2015’ will be inaugurated by Chief Minister, Shri Laxmikant Parsekar.

PROPOSALS INVITED FOR STATE AWARD FOR TEACHERS 2014

Panaji: May 14, 2015 …. The Directorate of Education invites proposals for selection of teachers, for the state award, 2014 from meritorious teachers of the State Government.  The last date for submission of proposals to the Adm.III Section of this Directorate is on or before June 26, 2015.

There are altogether eight awards to be given in the various categories:

Two awards, one in each district, in Primary, Secondary and Headmaster of High School and one award from the entire State in Higher Secondary (Grade-I) teacher and Principal of a Higher Sec. School, category will be awarded.

In service teachers who have the required academic and professional qualifications as per the cadre only are eligible.  In service teachers with at least 20 years of regular teaching service as on June 30, 2014 that too in the State of Goa only are eligible.  Teachers serving in particular cadre will be eligible for award in which they are presently working.  Head of Institution being teachers are also eligible.

Proposals should not be sent directly to this office.  The Dy. Director of Education / Dy. Education officer from respective Zones will offer their comments before onward submission to Adm.III Section of Directorate of Education.

South District Tobacco Control Committee deliberates on ensuring smoking free public places.

Panaji: May 13, 2015 … The meeting of District level Co-ordination Committee on Tobacco Control was held in the Conference hall of Mathany Saldhana Administration Complex, South Goa, Margao under the Chairmanship of the District Collector Dr. Sachin Shinde (IAS) who reviewed the minutes of the last meeting to access preparedness “World No Tobacco Day” on May 31st in South Goa.

 At the meeting, the Collector deliberated on ensuring smoking free in public places by empowering the Mamlatdars, Directorate of Panchayats, BDO, FDA besides other Government officers and Education Institute to persist intensive drive in their respective Jurisdiction to achieve tangible results.

 In order to protect non-smoker, the action plan will take Cigarette and Other Tobacco Product Act 2003 (COPTA) activities seriously to meet maximum target by issuing challan to violators of the Tobacco Control Act in public places mostly in hotels, restaurants and Gadda within the vicinity of Education Institutes in South Goa.

 The Collector also directed Education Department to organise drawing and poster making competition on ill effects of tobacco besides painting of respective school compound wall with anti tobacco messages to bring awareness among the public on Tobacco Control Act.

 The World Health Organisation (WHO) has designated this year’s theme “Stop Illicit Tobacco Trade”. To this effect a workshop on illicit tobacco trade training was also proposed to be held for the newly appointed Mamlatdars, BDO’s and officers from the Police Department besides others to tackle the issue of illicit tobacco trade to ensure preventive measures under COPTA. For this, assistance will be taken from resource persons from Goa Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (GIPARD), Custom & Excise Law enforcement and Taluka Administration.

  May 31st being the “World No Tobacco Day” the Collector has issued instructions to the concerned officers to organise public awareness campaign’s on Health and Societal impacts of tobacco.

Amendments to the Electricity Act

May 12, 2015The Union Cabinet has approved the proposals for amendment in Electricity Act, 2003 on 10th December, 2014 as contained in the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2014. The Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on 19th December, 2014.

This was referred to Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and the committee has submitted its report to the Parliament on 7th May, 2015. This was stated by Sh. Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal & New and Renewable Energy in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.

The Minister further stated that the amendments proposed in Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2014 seeks to end the monopoly of power distribution companies by segregating the carriage (distribution sector/network) from the content (electricity supply business) in the power sector by introducing multiple supply licensees so as to bring in further competition and efficiency in the distribution sector by giving choice to the consumers, the Minister added. 

GRIHA AADHAR AMOUNT FOR MARCH 2015 DISBURSED

Panaji: May 11, 2015 … The Directorate of Women & Child Development has informed to all Griha Aadhar beneficiaries who have been sanctioned their benefits upto 28th February 2015, are hereby informed that total of 111976 Nos. beneficiaries on record who have submitted their Life Certificates before 31st March, 2015 have been credited with their monthly benefits @ Rs. 1200/- (Rupees one thousand two hundred only) for the month of March, 2015 to their respective declared bank account through ECS. The total amount disbursed for the month is Rs. 13.44 crores for all beneficiaries.

          Also in case of beneficiaries whose earlier ECS payment had bounced due to incorrect bank details and who have corrected their bank details with the Department of Women and Child Development Certificates before 31st March, 2015 are also informed that their bounced pending arrears have also been credited to their corrected bank accounts.

          All the concerned beneficiaries are requested to verify their bank account to confirm receipt of the disbursements and incase the amount is not received or for any other discrepancy may contact. Also those beneficiaries who have not yet given their Life Certificates/Income certificates as per scheme should immediately submit to their respective Taluka offices of this Department or contact Griha Aadhar Help Line No. 2438844/8551833933.
