PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE IMPORTANT: DHAVLIKAR

Margao:  March 26, 2018 … Unless and until one doesn’t keep a vision it will be difficult to march towards progress and to achieve greater heights in life. Planning is very much important in life and should be done meticulously. Practical knowledge and experience is very much important apart from books, said Minister for PWD, Shri Sudin Dhavlikar.

Speaking after inaugurating “SANKRITI 2018” an event concerned with Civil Engineering organised by Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda in association with Civil Engineering Students Association and Indian Concrete Institute, Students Chapter at the college premises, today, Shri Dhavlikar urged students to focus on imparting practical technical education apart from books. More stress should be given on the socio ethical knowledge to survive in this competitive world, he added.

Shri Dhavlikar congratulated Don Bosco College of Engineering for oraganising an event which showcases talent of young budding generation and giving the much required exposure of technical expertise. Such event also provides better coordination and opportunities, he said.

He said the education trend is changing day by day with latest innovative technology and hence we have to cope up with the new trend keeping in mind the requirement of society at large. He urged the students to create a learning ambience by inculcating professional behaviour, problem solving skill, student faculty colaboration and socio ethical awareness.

Civil Engineering is the backbone of State which includes construction development for water supply, sewerage, roads, bridges and water resources. Goa is the only State which supplies filtered drinking water to 95% of the population. As of today about 750 MLD water is supplied in the State and in near future Government is planning for additional 250 MLD and again for next 25 years by increasing water resource additional 500 MLD water will be provided, he pointed.

Chairman, CREDAI Goa, Shri Desh Prabhudessai said students have to be ambitious and added that nature will take them high in life. Students should be practically perfect rather then in academic, he said.

Principal, Dr Neena Panandikar and Director, Fr Kinley D’cruz also spoke on the occasion. Prof Annapurna Sakardande, HOD was present on the occasion.

MEETING OF NORTH GOA ZILLA PARISHAD HELD

Panaji: March 25, 2018 …. The meeting of North Goa Zilla Parishad was recently held in the Secretariat and was chaired by the President Smt. Ankita Navelkar. Several issues pending to development were discussed at the meeting.

Those attended the meeting were Shri Manoj Mandrekar, Vice President North Goa ZP, Shri Arun Bankar, Shri Gupesh Naik, Smt. Saraswati Sagun Wadkar, Smt. Shrimati Mandrekar,  all  ZP members and Shri Dasharath Redkar CEO,  staff of ZP office and others .

NYK INVITES APPLICATION FOR VOLUTEERS

Margao:  March 24, 2018 … The, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan South District has invited applications from young person’s as National Youth Volunteers to help, channelize their energies and capabilities towards Nation building activities by organizing them into volunteers groups.

These volunteers will have to spearhead campaigns and awareness programme about health, literacy, sanitation, gender and other social issues apart from assisting the administration in emergency or implementation of various programmes.

Interested youths should be at least class 10thPass ( Class X ) and should be in the age group between 18 and 29 years, as on April 1, 2018.

The volunteers will be paid an honorarium of Rs. 5000 per month for their engagement up to two years which will include the period of training for 4 weeks in April 2018 in the identified development activities. This is neither a paid employment and also does not confer any legal right on the volunteer to claim employment with the Government.

The interviews are scheduled on March 26,  2018 at Collector Office, Margao.

CREATE AWARENESS ON COTPA: FAL DESAI

Margao:  March 23, 2018 … Dy. Collector, Shri Paresh Fal Dessai chairing a meeting of the District Level Co-ordination Committee for Tobacco Control urged the enforcement team to conduct vigorous enforcement drives in their respective talukas emphasised the need to send a strong signal to all and sundry that the committee is serious with violations of the COTPA Act.  The teams through their drives need to focus on creating awareness among the traders and the users on the after effects of Tobacco products rather than colleting revenue through challans, he remarked.

 This meeting was attended by members consisting of senior government officials from various departments and Goacan members at Collectorate, Margao yesterday.

 The District Level Co-ordination Committee for Tobacco Control also decided  to observe the forthcoming World No Tobacco Day on the theme Tobacco & Heart Disease’ by having functions across all talukas in the South District with special stress on effect of tobacco on health related diseases.

 The members decided to have the awareness campaign one week prior and one week after the observance of No Tobacco Day to be celebrated on May 31, 2018 by involving PTA of all school and its students including volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra of the District to create mass awareness and ensure effective campaign with large participation and success to the fortnight campaign.

 The Committee also decided to have two day training cum workshop to all the enforcement teams and the committee members to keep them abreast with the latest amendments to the act apart from various ways and means to convince those into it to give the habit.

 The Committee also discussed in details various other aspects like hardships faced by the enforcement wings and the no. of raids that were carried out in various talukas.

DEVELOPMENT OF WATERWAYS IS NEED OF THE HOUR-SHRI GADKARI

Panaji: March 22, 2018 … The  Central Government under Sagarmaala scheme has taken up connecting eleven major rivers and  construct  sixty new ports in the years to come said Union Minister of Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Shri Nitin Gadkari   at  the inaugural function of inland ferry services Jetty and four lane  overhead road  at Baina Vasco recently. The function was organized by MPT.

Shri Gadkari  said  our country has 7500 kms stretch of coastal area which needs to  developed as water ways. This he said will  reduce the cost of transport in future. Under Sagarmala scheme, the Government has taken up to connecting 11 major rivers and to construct 60 ports along the coastal area.

Shri Gadkari speaking further said that the Government has twofold intention behind developing inland waterways. One among this is to is to promote transport and other is  tourism.  With the promotion of water transport the pressure of traffic on road would be reduced. The Central Government has invested Rs. 17500 Crores for the development of waterways across the country. He called upon the people of Goa to have positive approach to make  the development possible in Goa. The ecology and environment of Goa would be accorded priority while undertaking developmental works, he assured.

The Union Minister of State for Ayush  ( Independent charge ) Shri Shripad Naik  while addressing the gathering lauded the contribution  by  the central Minister in the development  of the state.  The development of waterwayshe said is need of the hour. The inauguration of inland ferry services and jetty will help in the promotion of waterways and for tourist activities, he added.

TOURISM MINISTER LAID FOUNDATION STONE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF NEW HOUSES TO 14 DHANGAR COMMUNITIES

March 21, 2018 … Tourism Minister Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar laid foundation stone for construction of new houses to 14 Dhangar communities at Dhangarwada, Casarvarnem recently.

       Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ajgaonkar said that with the construction of Greenfield International Airport at Mopa, first preference in employment will be given to locals from the affected villages, the land losers, and the people from Pernem.

     Shri Ajgaonkar praised government for providing rehabilitation package to the 14 Dhangar families offering them alternate land, houses as well as grazing space in Casarvarnem village.

         Shri Ajgaonkar also appeal to the public to pray for the health and speedy recovery of Chief Minister’s so that Shri Manohar Parrikar himself can inaugurates the houses when it is complete. Shri Ajgaonkar also requested the dhangar families to cooperate with the officials of GMR so that houses are built as soon as possible.

Shri Milind Paidarkar, Manager , GMR informed that Under the rehabilitation package, the government has allotted   800 square metres of land with 100 square metres of constructed house and 50 square metres of goat/cow shed .Also  community hall and a crematorium will be also built for the 14 families in addition, regular electricity, water supply and road connectivity, he added.

VISHWAJIT INAUGURATES WORKSHOP ON DRUG ACCESSIBILITY, AVAILABILITY, AFFORDABILITY

Panaji: March 20, 2018 …  The Minister for Health, Shri Vishwajit Rane recently inaugurated  a workshop on ‘Accessibility, Availability, and Affordability of Pharmaceutical Products’ organised by the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, Goa in collaboration with ASSOCHAM and National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority.

            While speaking on the occasion, Shri. Rane said that the costs of important drugs would decrease as stakeholders such as the industry and the pricing authority interact with each other for solutions. This would also increase the outreach of the government to help people with medical facilities Shri Rane said.

            Present on the occasion were Director, Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration, Smt. Jyoti Sardesai among others.

            The workshop aimed to familiarize stakeholders with issues regarding affordability and availability of essential drugs. The resource speakers at the workshop shared their views on various topics relating to availability and affordability of pharmaceutical products.

SHRI VISHWAJIT LAUNCHES CARDIAC CARE AMBULANCES

Panaji, March 19, 2018 … The Minister for Health, Shri Vishwajit Rane recently launched a fleet of Cardiac Care Ambulances in Panaji. Present on the occasion were Head of Operations, GVK EMRI 108, Smt. Purti Patkar, Director of Directorate of Health Services, Dr Sanjeev Dalvi, Dean of Goa Medical College, Dr Pradeep Naik, senior doctors among others.

            While speaking on the occasion, Shri Rane said that the Government is endeavouring  strengthen their mission of saving lives. He acknowledged the support of the Goa Chief Minister, Shri Manohar Parrikar in vitalising the medical sector in Goa. 

            Shri Rane said that there was a vacuum in medical service in certain areas of Goa for which the Government was addressing it in a responsible way. Shri. Rane further said that “The Government is endeavouring to increase the scope of 108 ambulances. The Government is also working on innovative models to provide health services to the people of Goa.” 

            The Cardiac Care ambulances are a critical component of the Goa State STEMI programme and are equipped with the state-of-the-art machines to deal with emergencies.

            “This occasion also marks the launch of the STEMI program which will be done in phases,” said Shri Rane, adding that they would train doctors, Medical Officers, etc, to thrombolyse  patients at Centre points such as Primary Health Centres, before they are referred to hospitals. Dr Guruprasad Naik informed that each ambulance has specially trained doctor available round the clock and modern lifesaving equipments.

FINACIAL ASSISTANCE DISBURSED TO DHANGAR FAMILIES

Panaji: March 18, 2018 …   Tourism Minister, Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar handed over cheque amounting to Rs 20 Lakhs to 5 families from the Dhangar community displaced by the Mopa International Airport at a function held at Pernem recently.

         Also a cheque of Rs 5.84,16,111 was given to Shri Devi Satteri Devasthan at Casarvanem in Pernem for having acquired their land by the government to rehabilitate dhangar families.

    Shri Ajgaonkar on the occasion thanked the members of Devasthan for giving land to the Dhangar community .Providing Rehabilitation has been a big relief to the families of Dhangar community he added.

Deputy Collector, Pernem, Shri Sudhir Kerkar informed that 36,800 square meters of land has been acquired at Casarvanem for 14 families belonging to Dhangar community.

TOURISM MINISTER LAUNCHES WORK OF HOT-MIX AT DHARGAL

Panaji: March 17, 2018 Minister for Tourism Shri Manohar Ajgaonkar launched the work for providing hot mix carpet to road at Dadachiwadi Palyewada and Kapni wada in Village Panchayat Dhargal recently.

      Speaking on the occasion, Shri Ajgaonkar informed that the hot mix carpet for a stretch of 11 kms includes NH-17 to RTO office to Dadachiwadi,from Palyewada to Dadachiwadi ,from Dadachi wadi to Kapniwada ,Anati and from chichula to Naryan Salgoankar house.

   Shri Ajgaonkar said that for undertaking any development, cooperation and support of the locals is vital and very important. Shri Ajgaonkar also appealed to the people to support the government in the process of development. Shri Ajgaonkar further said various international projects are coming up such as International Airport at Mopa, International cricket Stadium at Dhargalim which will help in generating employment for the locals youth of Pernem.
