    goa to observe national road safety week

    28-dec-2012 … The 24th National Road Safety Week will be observed from 1st to 7th January, 2013 in the state of Goa.  This year the theme is “Stay Alive, Don’t Drink & Drive”. Goa Traffic Police being one of the stake holders has decided to undertake various activities during this week for spreading the Road Safety Awareness amongst all road users including pedestrians and students. Goa Traffic Police will be conducting various Traffic Education Programme all over Goa covering students, road users, motorists etc. Besides these, following are the competitions organized to create awareness amongst the School children and citizens on Traffic Rules and disciplines.

    1.      Essay Writing Competition: An Essay Competition will be held for Senior Citizens on topic “Traffic Problems Then & Now – What Younger Generation should learn from us?” The Essay will be of maximum 500 words and the best three entries will be awarded Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- & Rs. 1,000/- respectively.

    2.      Essay Writing Competition: This will be held for Higher Secondary Students and the topic will be “Traffic Rules and Your Parents”. The Essay will be of maximum 500 words and the best three entries will be awarded Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- & Rs. 1,000/- respectively and three Consolation Prizes of Rs. 500/- each.

     3.      Photography Competition: It will be an open category competition. The topic will be “Traffic through the Eyes of Citizens” and the best three entries will be awarded Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- & Rs. 1,000/- respectively and three Consolation Prizes of Rs. 500/- each.

    4.      Poster Drawing Competition: This also will be an open category competition with topic “Thanking a Thankless Job – Traffic Cop” and the best three entries will be awarded Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- & Rs. 1,000/- respectively and three Consolation Prizes of Rs. 500/- each.

    5.      Poster Drawing Competition: This Poster Drawing Competition will be only for College Section Students. The topic will be “Family Trauma After Accident” and the best three entries will be awarded   Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- & Rs. 1,000/- respectively and three Consolation Prizes of Rs. 500/- each.

    6.      Drawing Competition: It will be organized for students of Class VIII to X with topic “Traffic – Your Idea (Good, Bad & Ugly)”. The best three entries will be awarded Rs. 3,000/-, Rs. 2,000/- & Rs. 1,000/- respectively and three Consolation Prizes of Rs. 500/- each.

    7.      Slogan Competition on Traffic Scenario: This will be an open category competition and the best three entries will be awarded Rs. 500/-, Rs. 300/- & Rs. 200/- respectively and three Consolation Prizes of Rs. 150/- each.

    8.      On the Spot Quiz Contest: The said contest will be held on road by randomly stopping the motorist as well as to the students while giving road safety lectures. He/she will be asked three simple questions pertaining to Traffic Laws and on the spot prize will be awarded to those answering all three questions correctly.

    9.  On the spot Prizes for Traffic Rule Abiders: Those motorists found driving/riding by complying all traffic laws will be randomly stopped and rewarded.

    The entries for all the above contest except Drawing Competition to reach in the office of the Superintendent of Police, Traffic, Traffic Headquarters, Near Joggers Park, Altinho Panaji on or before 15th January, 2013 by 5.00 pm. As regards to the Drawing Competition it is informed that it will be conducted by Traffic Police in the participating Schools itself on 15/01/2013. The drawing material like papers and crayons will be made available by Traffic Police to the students.

    OLD GOA PS: Shri Rajanish Kumar Singh r/o Opp. Health centre, Kalapur complained that on 21.12.12 at 03.00 hrs. at Kalapur, St. Cruz, accused person  Miss Ofilia Former along with  03 unknown person criminally  trespassed  into his rented room and abducted  him from his rented  room with assistance of 04 accomplices / accused person in one trax Jeep No.GA-08-U-5788 while on the way  all 08 accused  persons with  their common  object  also assaulted him  with slaps fist blows, kicks, belts and iron rode, thereby causing  him simple injuries  thereafter  threw out  the complainant  an unknown destination in South Goa.     COLLEM PS: Victim lady, age 50 yrs complained that on 23.12.12 at 11.00 hrs  at Collem  Bazar,  near  Bar and  Restaurant,  accused person namely Navanath s/o Sukdo  Mamlekar  r/o Collem  Bazar  abused her  with filthy  language  threatened  to break  her legs, and further  pushed  her by  touching  her  breast  and  then after  assaulted  her with an Iron  rod on her  hip  bone. Accused  also  broke  her tulsi  thinking  that she  has  threw waste  water  onto his  vehicle.   Accused arrested and released on bail.     CALANGUTE PS: Complaint on behalf of the State that on 23.12.12 at 22.00 hrs, accused Chukwn Jeny Dojie, Nigerian National  was found in  possession of Nigerian  passport  bearing No. A01904252 in which  was fixed with a fake  Visa  on the  Passport  and  forged  signature  of the  High  commission of India in Lagos  and thereby  committed   the  offence  of  forgery  and cheating  and  accused  foreigner  was also  found illegally  staying  in India without  valid visa.     Charas W/Rs. 4,50,000/- (approx) seized at Sinquerim, Candolim from Nigerian National by the staff of Anti Narcotic Cell Police Station

    24-dec-2012 … Anti Narcotic Cell of Goa Police under the leadership of PI, Suraj Halarnkar, PC 4835 Jitendra Kambli, PC 6120 Prakash Polekar, PC 6292 George D’ Cunha, PC 6193 Sandesh Volvoikar and PC 6418 Mayur Gawade and under the overall supervision of Dy.S.P. ANC Shri. Nilu Raut Dessai has arrested accused Anthony Chike s/o Okoye, 32 yrs, Nigerian National who was found in illegal possession of 2.933 kgs of charas. The approximate value of the seized contraband is approximately Rs. 4,50,000/- in the international market.

    On 23/12/2012 PI, Suraj Halarnkar received a reliable information that on 24/12/2012 one male foreigner of Negro Race, aged about 30 to 35 yrs, having strong built, tall height, Dark complexion, wearing red colour T-Shirt and cargo pant will be coming in one black colour Honda Activa Scooter to deliver Narcotic drugs i.e. charas to his prospective customer on 24/12/2012, between 03.00 hrs to 04.00 hrs at Aguad jail – Helipad Junction Road, Sinquerim, Candolim, Bardez -Goa. Accordingly the Raiding Party was organized. The team positioned themselves Aguad jail – Helipad Junction Road, Sinquerim, Candolim, Bardez. The team was able to apprehend Anthony Chike s/o Okoye, 32 yrs, Nigerian National presently residing at Candolim, Goa. On subsequent search of his person, after observing mandatory guidelines, the Raiding Party seized 2.933 kgs of charas, one black and blue colour shoulder bag and black colour Honda Activa scooter bearing No. GA-03-K-0125 with ignition key and two other keys from the possession of Anthony Chike. Accordingly, Crime No. 13/2012 under appropriate sections of NDPS Act was registered against the accused person.

    The accused was previously arrested by Calangute Police Station in their Police Station Crime No. 239/10 u/s 21 (b) & 20 (b) (ii) for the possession of 11 grams of Cocaine and 68 grams of Charas. The accused was subsequently released on bail. The case is pending trial.

    The accused will be produced before Hon’ble JMFC Mapusa and Police Custody remand is being sought for further investigation. Further investigation is in progress.

    CALANGUTE POLICE BUSTED SEX RACKET. ARRESTED THREE ACCUSED PERSON, THREE VICTIM GIRLS RESCUED FOR INVOLVING IN PROSTITUTION

    Brief facts:

    On reliable information, Calangute Police conducted raid at Sinquerim, wherein a white colour Santro car bearing No. GA-03-K-3941 was intercepted along with accused (1) Surendra Mandrekar s/o Sharad, r/o H.No. 332, Ashve Vaddo, Mandrem, Pernem-Goa, (2) Nagesh Srinivas @ Michael, and during the raid, a victim girl was procured by accused (1) Surendra Mandrekar s (2) Nagesh Srinivas @ Michael, Shikre, (3) Jeetu, Full name not known and (4) Richard, Full name not known and accused No.1. (1) Surendra Mandrekar s/o Sharad, r/o H.No. 332, Ashve Vaddo, Mandrem, Pernem-Goa, (2) Nagesh Srinivsd @ Michael, r/o H.No. 20, HIGB/9, Shikre, KS Town, Bangalore  brought the victim girl at Sinquerim for supplying her to the prospective customer for the purpose of prostitution, and accused persons were found living on the earning of prostitution in the vicinity of public place. The accused person No.2 published information on internet which is obscene in electronic form.

    In this connection, an offence vides Cr.No.298/12 u/s 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Accused No. 1 and 2 arrested.

    SECOND RAID

    Brief facts:

    On reliable information a ash color Hyundai i 10 car bearing No. GA-03-P-1702 was intercepted along with accused No.1 Sanjeev Shah, at Sinquerim, and during the raid, two victim girls were procured by accused No.1 Sanjiv Shah r/o Flat No. 704, Vaishali Building, Malad, Mumbai and accused No. 2. Sagar Patel r/o Mumbai and accused No.1 Sanjiv Shah brought the victim girls at sinquerim junction for supplying them to the prospective customers for the purpose of prostitution and accused person were found living on the earning of prostitution in the vicinity of public place. The accused person No. 2 published information on internet which is obscene in electronic form.

    In this connection, an offence vides Cr.No.299/12 u/s 4, 5 and 7 of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act1956 and section 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Accused No. 1 Sanjiv Shah has been arrested.

    Supplying female to the customer for the purpose of prostitution & living on the earnings of prostitution.

    MAPUSA PS: ShriAnand s/o Rameshwar Mapsekar r/o near Electricity Dept., Mapusa complained that on 10.12.12 at about 17.05 hrs.  in front Vrudavan Hospital, accused  Chetan  Pundalik Parwar r/o Mapusa  rode his  M/cycle bearing No.GA-03-Q07958 in a rash and negligent manner and dashed against pedestrian who was standing at side of road and sustained bodily injuries.     MARGAO TOWN PS: Mr. Himesh Rajan Prakash, Enforcement officer, employee Provident Fund Organization Regional office, Patto Plaza, Panaji complained that in between  July 2012 to October 2012 at  M/s Quadros Motors Private Ltd. Opp. Multipurpose High School Borda, Margao,  accused  Evencio  Quadros s/o Joaquim Quadros r/o  Margumpoi, Verna being responsible  person for the  conduct  of the  business of M/s Quadros  Motors Pvt.  Ltd. deducted  the amount  from the  employee’s wages towards  employee provident  fund  for the  month of July  2012  to October 2012  and failed  to deposit the  contribution of employee  in the  employee  provident  fund  account  with the State Bank, thereby misappropriated cash of rs.39369/- belonging to employees.     Nigerian National arrested by Calangute Police for Drugs

    Brief facts:

    Dec-11-2012 … Calangute Police has arrested another Nigerian National for illegal possession of Narcotic drugs. On 11.12.2012, a secret information was received and immediately a team was formed under the Supervision of PI Nolasco Raposo and  a raid was conducted near Bobs Inn Bar & Restaurant, Xemer Candolim. During raid one Nigerian national Mr. Emmanual Joshua was found in illegal possession of 2 grams Cocaine W/Rs. 14,000/- approximately, cash of Rs. 150/- & one Nokia mobile phone.

     

    In this connection, an offence vide Cr.No.282/12 u/s 20(a) of NDPS Act registered at Calangute PS.  Accused has been arrested and in Police custody.

     

    During investigation it is learnt that the foreigner was staying in the rented room in a Guest House of Mama Cecilia at Candolim. Action is also being initiated against the proprietor Joao Silvera of Mama Cecilia Guest House, Simer, Candolim for not submitting the “C” Form as per Foreigners Act.

    In 2012 Calangute Police Station has booked 12 drug cases, out of which 08 Nigerians have been arrested in 06 cases.

    Francis Fernandes r/o Alto Fondavem Ribander complained that on 30.11.12 between 7.45 to 10.00 hrs.  near western gate of St. cathedral Church, unknown accused person/s committed theft of  black color Bullet  M/cycle No.GA-07-H-3101, W/rs.75,000/- which was parked in an open parking place.     MARGAO TOWN PS: Complaint on behalf of the State that on 07.12.12 at 22.10 hrs.  accused  Ratish  Raut Desai  r/o  Assolda,  Quepem  riding M/cycle  No. GA-09-B-4468 while proceeding  from Margao  city  to  Junta  Qtrs. Pajifond  and  when reached  near  Mohiddin Petrol  Pump T Junction, rode his M/cycle  in a rash and negligent  manner  and dashed  to oncoming  Pleasure  scooter  No. GA-08-L-2458 thereby  causing  grievous  injuries  to  scooter rider  Laxmikant  Amonkar  r/o  Comba.     2) On 10.12.12, one Siddesh Bhandari, age 26 yrs. r/o Headland Sada while proceeding from Ravanfond to Khareband on Pulsar M/Cycle No.GA-08-P-4219, lost his control at Rajendra Prasad Stadium while overtaking due to oncoming vehicle and fell down with his M/cycle and came under the rear wheel of Tanker GDZ 9075 which was also proceeding in same direction and succumbed to the injuries on the spot.     PONDA PS:  Shri Narayan S. Naik r/o Darjwada, Kundai complained that on 05.12.12 at 19.05 hrs.  at Manaswada, Kundai, accused person Shrikant s/o Prasad Yadav aged 25 yrs. r/o near   Electricity Dep. Office,  Kundai  driving JCB No.GA-05-B-8472 while proceeding from Kundai to Panaji direction and when reached at Manaswada, Kundai, dashed against Eterno scooter No.GA-07-B-4805  which was proceeding  towards  Panaji  on back side  as a  result  Eterno  scooter fall  towards  right side  of the  road  and dashed  to on coming Splendor M/cycle  No. GA-05-H-1930 due to which  both riders  of above  vehicle  fall on the  road  towards  right  side   and pillion  rider  fall  on the road  as a  result   rear wheel  of JCB ran over  the  head  of pillion  rider who succumbed  to  injuries  and also  both rider  succumbed  injuries  at GMC  Bambolim. Ratnabai Tari r/o Tonca Madkai Ponda complained that on 16.10.12 between 09.30 hrs. to 11.00 hrs. at GMC Bambolim, unknown  lady, age about 20 to 22 yrs. took her  to X-ray ward  with  mollified  intentions, induced her  to remove her mangalsutra two  bangles and ear rings W/rs.1,50,000/- approx,  and took all above ornaments and  disappeared  from the  spot, thereby cheated  her. Willson Nagar,  Davorlim  complained that since last 3 months till  date,  accused  person  Mr. Vithal  Ramchandra Patil r/o  Willson  Nagar,  Davorlim negligently  allowed  the  formation and growth  of honey comb on the  parapet of the front portion of his  house,  resulting  in honeybee attacks  on him and other residents of  Wilson nagar  Davorlim  and  also  failed  to take up any  measures  for removal of the said honey comb after  several  request by the  residents, of the following  similar  incident of  honey bee bites  to the  locals  in the  past  thus endangering  the life of people  in the   surrounding  locality.
