CM GREETS PEOPLE ON ID-UL-FITR

July 28, 2014 …. Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar has extended his warm greetings on the eve of ID-ul-Fitr. In a message, Shri Parrikar said the festival symbolizes piety, patience, fortitude and godliness.

The Chief Minister expressed the hope that the festival of Id-ul-Fitr, which gives the message of compassion, sacrifice and brotherhood, would strengthen our feelings of unity and communal harmony. He called upon all to come forward and help weak and underprivileged people of society and express the spirit of charity on this occasion.

GOVERNOR EXTENDS ID-UL-FITR GREETINGS

Panaji ; July 29, 2014 … Governor of Goa, Smt Margaret Alva has extended her greetings and best wishes to the people of Goa and the Muslim community in particular on the auspicious occasion of Id-ul-Fitr.

The Governor in her message has said, Prophet Mohammed gifted us with his invaluable and eternal message of love, compassion and tolerance, which has great relevance today, when humanity is afflicted with problems of religious fundamentalism, hatred, violence and conflicts. In a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-lingual country like ours, it is essential for all of us to promote and maintain inter – religious understanding and co-existence among the different sections of society.

Let us, therefore, on this auspicious occasion of Id-ul-fitr, draw inspiration from the eternal message of the Prophet, and practice it in the best interest of social harmony, national unity and integrity.

Goa is traditionally a peaceful State, where people of different faiths live in harmony and mutual understanding. I appeal to the people of Goa to steadfastly maintain this rich legacy, the Governor added.

EFFORTS INITIATED TO IMPROVE POWER SUPPLY : POWER MINISTER

Panaji, July 28, 2014 … Minister for Power Shri Milind Naik has said that Government has initiated efforts to improve and provide uninterrupted power supply to the people of Goa. Minister said that thrust will be laid on laying underground cables to get rid of power fluctuation.

Shri Naik was speaking after commencing the work of extension of single phase three wire LT Street light line  costing Rs. 71,84,781/- under Public Lighting Scheme in the presence of Minister for Industries Shri Mahadev Naik and Shri Ganesh Gaonkar, MLA and Chairman of IDC at a function held at Bethoda today.

Speaking further, Minister said that transient interruptions during rains are inevitable. Punctured insulator, Falling trees, Branches, coconut leaves on overhead lines and thereby disrupting power supply are beyond control and cannot be resolved within a short time it will take some time. Converting Overhead lines to underground would reduce interruptions considerably, he added.

The Power Minister said during past two years the power scenario in Goa has improved significantly. The Government will now accord  priority for laying underground cables with thrust on 11KV particularly in those areas where there are more tree which causes power interruption. In this direction, Minister announced that the Government has earmarked Rs. 40 Crores for underground cabling of 11KV power line in Shiroda and that this work will be taken up in a phased manner in entire State.

The Power Minister also sought wholehearted Co-operation of the people including the representatives of local Self Government bodies to support the endeavors of the Government and help resolve issues related to power supply.

Speaking on the occasion Minister for Industries Shri Mahadev Naik said that leveling of acquired land admeasuring 2 lakh 16 thousand mtrs. area for setting up of Industrial Estate at Panchawadi – Shiroda is already begun which will be completed within a couple of months. He said, by setting up Industrial Estate people of Shiroda and its surrounding areas will get the benefits which will reduce the unemployment he added.

CULTURAL TALENT SEARCH COMPETITION FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS

Panaji ; July 23, 2014 ….. Directorate of Art and Cultural, Government of Goa every year organises “Cultural Talent Search Competition ’’ for the school students in Goa. The main aim of the competition is to give platform to the upcoming talent in the field of Music, Dance Drama, Fine Art, Literature etc. More than 250 schools from all the 12 Talukas  of the State participate in this competition.

The competition is organized for the school students at the Taluka level and thereafter first 3 winners from each field at Taluka level compete at State level. The students from Aided, Non Aided and Government schools from standard Vth to Xth could participate in this competition. The competition will be in the field of Tabla, Harmonium, Guitar, Keyboard, Sitar, Violin, Vocal (Indian Classical), Vocal (Light Music) Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Monologue, Vocal (Western Solo), Drawing, Essay  Writing and Poetry writing . There will be three prizes in each field at Taluka level and at State level. The 1st prize winners of the State level competition will be awarded with the scholarships.

The circular inviting entries for participation of the students have been already dispatched to all the high schools. The entries may be submitted on or before August 04, 2014 to the Directorate of Art and Culture, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto, Panaji Goa in prescribed formats. The schools who have not received the Circular may personally collect the form from the Directorate of Art and Culture during the working days. Entries received after the last date will not be entertained. The last date to submit the application forms is August 04, 2014.

POWER MINISTER STRESS ON CONVERTING OVERHEAD LINES TO UNDERGROUND CABLES

July 23, 2014 … Power Minister Shri Milind Naik in his Twenty Year prospective Plan has laid stress on converting Overhead Lines to Underground cables in the thickly vegetated area in Phased Manner. Department is in process of finalizing route for laying cables underground of 45 kms long 11 KV Poryem Feeder as per the directives of Minister Shri Milind Naik. 

The Electricity department has also started professionally run Call Center with number 1912 to attend to the complaints,. This number can be accessed from all Cell Phones as well as land lines.

 The Power department has provided Lightning arrestors in substations and at all the transformers center to handle situation such as damage to power lines and equipment due to lightening and thundering. Once the thunder sub-sides the line and equipments are test charged for checking healthiness of line. Power line which goes from Morlem Panchayat to Kerim Dam has to cover 12 kms distance mostly through forest area and total 12 transformers are erected to supply Power to Kerim Village where total 952 consumers receive supply.

Inaccessibility, darkness and rain hamper the restoration of power supply. However department works very hard to restore power supply in time. It can be called as life threatening while staff working in soaked condition and near to High Tension lines.

Goa Electricity Department has always worked to resolve the Problems of Kerim Villagers. In past three years substantial work has been done to improve the power scenario in Kerim Village. Department has already initiated action to link Ravan( Dhangarwada) to Shiroli this will help in restoring power more swiftly and also Provide alternate Power supply to PWD Drinking Water Supply Scheme at Kerim Dam. Estimates are framed of Apr. Department has framed estimate of Rs 20 Lakhs for replacing Poles and Conductors in Kerim Village area.

Kerim Village is supplied power by Poriem Supply line which originates from 33/11KV Sankhalim Sub Station and supplies power to Village Panchayat Morlem, Parye, Kerim and Part of Harvalem. Total length of this feeder is 45 kms and supports 35 Nos. Of Transformers of Various capacity.

Total 3751 No of consumers are getting supply from this supply line.  Poriyem Supply line which starts from Sankhalim Sub Station branches at Morlem Panchyat and one line goes to Kerim Dam and other one goes in the direction chinchwada in Poriyem village. At Chinchwada one branch goes in direction of Tulshi Mala and other one towards Ravan ( Dhangarwada).

 

AIIMS-Like Institutes in the States

23/07/2014 … The Central Government has plans to set up AIIMS in each State in a phased manner under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) with the objective of correcting regional imbalances in the availability of affordable/reliable tertiary healthcare services and also for augmenting facilities for quality medical education in the country.

Four new AIIMS, one each in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Vidharba in Maharasthtra and Poorvanchal in Uttar Pradesh are under consideration. The Ministry has requested Chief Ministers of various States to identify appropriate locations for setting up of AIIMS.

The State concerned has to provide, free of cost land measuring 200 acres and other required infrastructure such as suitable road connection, sufficient water supply, electricity connection of required load and regulatory/statutory clearances. Cost of construction and running of the new AIIMS would be met by the Central Government under PMSSY.

After receipt of communication from the State, the identified locations are to be inspected by Central Teams before finalization of location.

Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh have responded so far. These responses are being examined in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

GOVERNMENT ENDEAVOURS TO INCREASE MILK PRODUCTION IN THE STATE-SHRI PARSEKAR

Panaji: July 21, 2014 …. Minister for Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Services and Health Shri Laxmikat Parsekar has said  that the Government is planning to provide automatic milk collection machines to dairies in the state which  will avail the farmers  report of their milk its quantity ,fat grade and amount etc. He said the Government has earmarked an amount of Rs.2crores. for the said purpose.

Shri Parsekar was speaking  at a meeting of milk producer farmers called by him at Pernem today. The objective of the meeting was to interact with farmers regarding their dairy business and to listen their success stories about their   business and difficulties   faced by them.

Speaking further Shri Parsekar said that the Government gives support price for crops to enhance agricultural production and incentive of 40% on milk production and various other schemes with the intention to boost milk production in the state. The Government gives importance to dairy farming and strive to resolve the problems by the dairy farmers in terms of getting subsidy   in availing the scheme etc.

Shri  Parsekar speaking informed that in order to educate farmers regarding the schemes, computerized billing and operation of automatic milk collection machine training camps would be arranged in future. The Government he said is in process of   up gradation of existing Veterinary Health Center at Chandel and also initiates steps to open veterinary dispensary at Ibrampur to avail veterinary services to the farmers. He appreciated farmers for their spontaneous participation in the meeting.

Speaker of Legislative Assembly Shri Rajendra Arlekar called upon the farmers to invoke in them trust of becoming stakeholders of future white revolution in the state.  He said it is required to work with firm determination to increase milk production to make the state self reliance. The concerned authorities have to encourage the farmers by supporting them in  time he opined. He also complimented the Minister Shri Parsekar for his attempts to enhance dairy farming in the state.    

Shri Pradeep Gaad, Shri Tukaram Mhamal, Shri Bhaiva Santosh Tilve, Shri Dasharath Gawade, Shri Girish Naik Shri Suryakant Gawade, Shri Dilip Dhavaskar,are those farmers who are dary farmers presented their success stories of milk production and also brought to the attention of the Minister various problems faced by them in acquiring schemes of the Government.
